somehow I got bumped out of this thread!!! Can you believe that?? The NERVE!! I was WONDERING why I wasn't seeing updates from my fellow August DISers!!! Hopefully this will do the trick and I will be able to get back to planning and getting excited with the rest of you@!!!

I had a similar experience - the first CM didn't really understand how to deal with my week as it spanned the two discounted periods. Had a much more knowledgeable CM this afternoon. Although the room I wanted (Poly GV CL) was not available with this discount, I was able to get a AAA discount applied to my last five nights (saved me about $400 - the 20% offer would have saved about $650, so it's better than nothing!). She had to split the week into two separate reservations as well, but said she'd make a note to keep us in the same room for the whole week. She also said to keep calling back to see if rooms opened up under the 20% discount - she said they are constantly changing/updating discounts.

We have 86 days!!! Josh is doing ok. Still having rejection issues. We were supposed to have a biopsy tomorrow, but his blood count is off and they are worried about risk of bleeding. Its a process. It will all work out!! I'm actually GLAD we have so many days until we go--it will give him plenty of time to get into good, healthy shape!!

Called in this morning to apply the Disney Visa room discount to my Nemo suite and they said I'd have to move to Cars or Lion King. I decided to wait and ask my travel companions. I didn't really get to make a choice though. While I was waiting to hear back from them I got a call from my boss informing me that I'm going to take a 10% pay cut. I'm not laid off so that's the good thing but it does mean that I'm going to have to be a bit more frugal than I otherwise would've been.

I called tonight and got it moved but it didn't save me as much as I thought it would. The CM I talked to in the morning quoted me a new price without taking my insurance into account. The total discount was $262. It beats a sharp stick in the eye for sure, but it's definitely not the free dining discount I was hoping for.

Ugh. Sorry to hear that! I got the same call from my boss last year, although it was only a 5% paycut. That hurt as it was, so I hear ya on the 10%. It also stinks that the insurance wasn't initially included, which led to false hopes for a bigger discount. Double whammie. Well, hopefully knowing Disney is only THREE months away will be your spoonful of sugar!

We never fly anywhere, but for kicks, I tried the calculator. It said it would cost us $200 to drive (which is true) and $1000 to fly. Made me feel better about taking the time to drive instead of fly!

We always drive as well and the calculator showed an over $400 savings by doing so, not to mention saving us the potential awful experience at the airport. We make stops where we want and really include the drive as part of our vacation.

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that. My DW had an almost 25% cut a few years back - plain and simple, it sucks. But the good news is you can still go, and at least you got a little discount.

I noticed you used your Disney Visa. We don't have a Disney Visa, but we do have a different Chase Visa and it has travel protection on it (including cancellation), so maybe look and see if they have any perks like that for the future.

She is intubated and has a feeding tube but she is finally showing signs of responding to the medications. I read the forums on my phone and tablet while in the waiting room but unfortunately cannot do any updates. In just a few days I am down to double digits for my trip, which right now is my bright spot in the future.
