Last year I was having real trouble getting a few things I wanted. What ended up happening was I would check the day before on my laptop from our resort room and got everything I had been looking for. For the restaurants with credit card guarantees, people cancel them when they change plans so that they won't be charged. So make sure to look while you are down there if you don't find it beforehand:)

I never thought about checking the day before with the credit card cancellations. I'm hoping that when we get closer to the 45 day mark that people will cancel as well. Congrats on your BOG ressie!

Call me crazy, but I'm thinking about canceling BOG. I LOVE Beauty and the Beast, but when I first saw the menu my thoughts were "meh and expensive". Also, I didn't really see too many good options for my kids......but, it's Beauty and the Beast!!! What are the chances of getting in for lunch? We don't have a meal plan and are already doing Biergarten, Chef Mickey's and the Dis Junior character dining.

Obviously we have to make our own decision, but I'm curious what others would do?

The single biggest reason I want to go back to BOG is for the atmosphere. Disney absolutely nailed this project. The restaurant itself is just magnificent and the detail is amazing. The food? Meh. I can't remember what we ate which tells you something I guess.

So to sum it up.. you still get to see and experience the restaurant for lunch and if we weren't on the DDP I would be going for lunch too. I believe the current advice is to get there about 30 or 40 minutes before opening to line up and that the line moves pretty steadily. I think you'd be fine with lunch and you'd still get the best part..just being there!:goodvibes

I think we'll book a LM room at AoA to check out the resort.

Good luck, there is a reason that the LM rooms have not been included in any of the discounts. ;)

Thanks! Going to think about it, but this might just be a better plan for us!

No hope of a discount here. We're just going to stay one night to look around and move to POFQ the next morning so I'm not too concerned. There's availability for the date I need. If it changes before I book we'll likely do a room only at POFQ for one night.

No hope for a discount here either being at AoA but the LM section :( Oh well at least the trip is at a 0 balance so all I have to do now is wait.

And the good news is even though you are paying more than the other values, the pools and the themes at AoA are out of this world!! I think you'll love it! I just can't wait to walk around with the kids and show them all the different areas. I really contemplated a Lion King Suite when I got my free dining pin but in the end it was just too much money and we don't need all the room. It would be nice..but not necessary.

DD wants to wear her princess dress at the airport. We're bringing 2 anyways (Cinderella for CRT and either Snow White or Belle for Akershus) so it would save room in the suitcase if she was already wearing it :rotfl: but do you all think it's okay to wear in the airport? I guess my main concern is leaving that trail of glitter across half the United States.

The thought of leaving a glitter trail across the US is just too adorable! :goodvibes

I'm still just figuring all of this out... (I have no idea what this will look like once I hit "post") I used to just lurk. I did notice they extended the hours of operation for MK on several days between 8/18 & 8/31. Does that mean they're anticipating larger crowds? :crowded:

See! My ticker thing didn't work. UGH!

Yes I believe thats why they have extended hours. I've mentioned it before but its worth mentioning again, we've been the last week of August for 4 years now. Every year it's busier than the year before and Labour Day weekend at the MK at least was VERY busy last year. Busier than I have ever seen it.
Touring Plans has that Sunday at a 9 this year:scared:

Anyway, the extended hours and the fact that free dining was included for late August leads me to believe that yes, it will be busier than normal.

Our part of the hotel is paid off! :cool1: Just waiting for the rest of our travel party to pay their part so I can see that sweet 0 balance!

The best part of waiting is crossing things off that To Do list! Big ol' check mark for payment!!

I can't wait until mine says zero balance. Should be soon.:)

QUESTION OF THE DAY??
If staying on site and flying in, Are you using Magic Express?
Are you as afraid as I am that you will not get your luggage until 10pm at night and will miss out on swimming your arrival afternoon, and then will have weepy kids who don't have their 'jammies to sleep in??
Why have I only read horror stories about ME?

We will use ME. Because of the stories, we will have an extra set of clothes, bathing suit and pjs in our carry on. We will also be mixing our packing. Each suitcase will have 2 outfits for each person (4 of us) in case one doesn't arrive, we would still have clothes. I guess I am a bit paranoid, but I would rather be safe than wearing the same set of clothes day after day.

We've rented cars for the last few trips (though we I did use ME with the kids this last trip to get to the resort while dh picked up the car). Before that we used ME and the buses exclusively. We have never had one single issue. However, I pack carefully just because anything can happen when the airlines are handling your luggage. Like OregonMomToWDW, we put jammies, bathing suits and one outfit in our carry on in case of delays. Plus it can take a few hours to get your luggage delivered to your room (which is standard) and then we can swim while we wait. We also have started mixing our luggage up so each person has a few outfits in each suitcase in case just one piece of luggage is lost. Then it isn't one person who loses everything.

Yes! ME is DH and my favorite part of going to Disney. We love ditching our bags at curbside check-in in Pittsburgh and having them magically arrive in our room. Like the PP said just put anything you would want for 24 hours in a carry on and don't worry about it. The convenience factor is huge.
