“IF THIS IS A DREAM, I DON’T WANT TO WAKE UP!” – POP! Goes The Solo Trip **THE END**

A
<-- trip report lurker, but I couldn't resist, because I'm impressing myself with figuring this out..

PPF = Peter Pan's Flight

SFR = Swiss Family Robinson.

I think. :)

Thank you April! Great job!! Rob, give this gal a prize.

See? I told ya, I'm going to hang my head in shame now!!

I just think of those attractions as Peter Pan and the Tree house!!! :lmao::lmao:

Philharmagic is one of my favorites. One time I actually got pretty sick in the Magic Kingdom and was too stubborn to leave, and the only thing I wanted to do was watch Philharmagic. I would have sat through a couple loops if they let me :rotfl: It really is just the perfect mix of all the best of Disney.

:lmao: at the 60 minute wait at Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse! I definitely think you're right on with that theory, and should probably consider booking SFR for FP+ as soon as possible if it's that popular.

I totally forgot about the mermaids in the water until the second time I rode, and it was pretty much a moment of "...oh, that's it?" The skeleton creeps me out though :(

That picture of the bride in HM is SOOOO CREEPY but that's the purpose so it's a great picture!

Mr. Toad! I never knew that! Thanks for the tip!

Haha, the guy in the photo directly below "Wazzup?" has the face I am always making in Disney. 75% sheer joy, 25% insanity.

I also adore Philharmagic! Mmmm pie! 60 minute wait at SFR? Sure, I bet! Walter Disneyland World, haha nice. A land where everything is backwards! (Sounds a little like Epic Mickey come to that) I like your theory through, make people think it's something awesome. Of course that can only last so long, eventually they have to get through it and deal with the probable let down that will follow. Mm that dole whip float looks awesome! I think my DH would like that! I feel like I need to try to get a picture of those mermaids. Looks like a tough job! Ahh I enjoy Pan too. It is one of the rides that really really reminds me of my first trip (picture 5 year old me crying because I thought the alligator really would eat Hook... ) You got some great pics in HM! Canon Elphs are far and away my favourite point and shoot cameras. I can't wait until my current p&s kicks the bucket so I can get an Elph. Great shots of the parade, I love that one too. Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

Great update.

I like the idea of using Walter Disneyland World for whenever some seems off or bizarre at the parks.

Also might be what I call my land I make if I ever get that Disney Infinity game (which I think should be more like Philarmagic, less a pixar mashup)

I love Philarmagic too! It's one of my absolute favorites!

Spencer and I walked through Swiss our last trip, definitely not very exciting unfortunately haha!

I wanna see the Move Shake it Parade on my next trip, I haven't seen it yet!

Great update, Rob! I saw Philharmagic a few times this past week. In fact, I'm waiting for my plane at MCO after 7 wonderful days at Disney. Always so depressing, isn't it? But at least your update is distracting the depression for now ;)

Philharmagic!!! I absolutely love this attraction too. You described it perfectly, funny & moving. The songs!! I'm so lucky that I grew up during the "disney renaissance".

Wow, that is a looooong wait to climb stairs. No thanks. Although, it is a great place to take pictures from another angle.

Dole whip!! That looks good. Do you like it better than the regular pineapple soft serve?

Aw, Jasmine & Bruno Mars! So cute. I'm going to have to keep my eye out for him the next time I visit!

Rest in peace Mr. Toad! Or as much peace as you can find, since you end up in hell at the end of the ride.

Good pics in the dark rides! I also love your parade shots too! Those dancers are so good at what they do, I feel bad they just had to walk around the route. I love that they all waved for pictures. Also, did I miss seeing your small world shirt along the way?

Love your partners shot. So pretty!

Haha, you find Buzz more frustrating than fun? Isn't that the fun part!?!?

Nice score though. I'm so pathetic, I know exactly which targets to hit, so if I don't get a good score. Well.....you don't even wanna go there. :rotfl:

Hahaha, Aurora totally has the stank face on in that picture.

Duck butt = perfection. That is all.

Overestimation of wait times is actually a pretty common thing in theme parks. We used to do it all the time at Six Flags.

Now we're talking!! That's an update!

A 60 minute wait for Swiss Family Robinson?? :rolleyes1 Cazy huh???

Yep, sounds like you had entered that Walter Disneyland world place! Hang on coming back for more comments...

Ahahaha, you ask... I deliver. I just could not figure out where a good place to cut would be, so I just left it all in and rambled incessantly.

Seriously cra-cra. :crazy2:

Definitely a Walter Disneyland World moment for sure.

Oh look there's more...

Ok, now I'm paying attention and I'm gonna prove it!! :rotfl2:

You certainly don't need to prove it, but let's have at it anyway...

Yep, sounds like a wife!! [insert evil eye here.... hold it... hold it... ok, he get's the message lighten up now!!

HAHA, I would NEVER say that. :rolleyes1

Excellent! You know you can sell that on the black market!

Probably true, but then I'd never get to ride. Standby Line way too looooooooooooooong.

Yes, wrong I tell ya!

I know right!?? So very wrong, but I fixed it.

Wait, what??? Muppets 3D doesn't have that distinction?? That's it!! I'm telling Miss Piggy!!

Haha, I have loads of love for Muppetvison, but Philharmagic is my #1.

Makes ya wanna bust out singing, A Whole New World and The Lion King song - which one???

It does, and I may have. Actually I'm kind of partial to "Part Of Your World" for some reason. :scratchin

And for those of us gals who sport long enough hair there is a certain magical website that sells these awesome ribbons that have Donald's butt as the mascot for this attraction. Sorry Rob to hijack ya there.

Hijack away!! That's actually pretty awesome.

Methinks it's a ploy as well. Or someone was messing with the guests.

Oh totally someone messing around, but so funny to see.

I'm going to kick myself for asking (since I AM new here and all) what's PPF and SFR?? I have my hand positioned for the Doh! moment that will surely follow.

Ha, yes, welcome to the DISboards Brenda. :rotfl2: Obviously I was too late and Annie beat me to it, but yes, she is very much correct.

It does exist I'm sure....

It does because I was clearly there.

No!! Disney would stoop to that??

Ahhh, you're probably right. They would NEVER do something like that.

If you find yourself in a line with ONLY women, you may want to tap the one in front of you on the shoulder just to check and make sure what they are doing. I just think with that hilarious episode of past updates that you were looking to explore every nook and cranny of the kingdom and you got a little carried away.

HEHE, that could be very true. I've been backstage now, so why not check out some other places I've never been. :lmao:

Disneykid4Life - the next Disney Imagineer. Has a nice ring.

AHHHHH that would be so amazing! I'll keep all the really good stuff secret until they hire me.

Spoiler alert but I FINALLY ordered a Dole Whip something this trip. Yum!!

YUM INDEED!

Yeah I trust you because I don't see anything!!

I know. :sad2: I will try again though until I get something usable. We may have to depend on Wendy for this one.

Looks like he is focusing on the raft. Hmmm....

Ha, no clue what he was shooting. Maybe he's scared of boats so he wants to keep a safe distance.

Next Time Jas!

Oh for sure!!!!!

Nooooooo leave it alone. My favorite FL ride and one of my top 5 for MK.

I'm with you Brenda. While not a technical marvel in this day and age, that's what makes it so special.

I would say to slow the flight down a bit. it is hard to get low light photos with how fast it goes.

There's an idea. I don't think I've ever even tried to photograph in there. But, if they did slow it down, capacity will lower even more, and the lines would be even worse.

And I would agree. Your photos came out great!

Thank you. I was very impressed given the level of my camera.

Ahhh I learned about that one on a recent tour...

Haha, now what tour would that be? I love that they have this little tribute. and I REALLY loved being able to ride it again in D-Land.

I agree about the performers of this parade. They seem to engage with the guests more than any other that I have seen.

Ok, I think I remembered all of my comments this time.

Absolutely my favourite "parade" (besides Boo To You). And that is the reason why. The performers aren't under the same constraints and I do love me some interaction.

HEHE, and it was awesome reading. :thumbsup2 :goodvibes

PPF = Peter Pan's Flight

SFR = Swiss Family Robinson.

I think. :)

Hi April, you're a lurker no longer so it's my absolute pleasure to :welcome: you.

And yup, you are right on the money!! I have no prize, so I will just give you a big bunch of pixiedust:

Thank you April! Great job!! Rob, give this gal a prize.

See? I told ya, I'm going to hang my head in shame now!!

I just think of those attractions as Peter Pan and the Tree house!!! :lmao::lmao:

Haha, prize denoted above (it's the best i can do on my feeble budget).

No need. I was just being lazy.

Totally my fault, I should have been more clear.

Philharmagic is one of my favorites. One time I actually got pretty sick in the Magic Kingdom and was too stubborn to leave, and the only thing I wanted to do was watch Philharmagic. OMG totally Courtney. I just LOVE those songs and you really nailed it. It's such a great best of Disney. LOVE IT!!!

I was toally freaked. That will now be my top FP+ priority for sure... or at least what I will recommend to everyone else. ;)

Yeah, that was kind of my impression too. I think it's a bit better if you hit it just right as I think it's just on a cycle, but it's nothing amazing. The skeleton IS creepy, but really neat too.

Oh I know. HM is pretty gruesome when you get right down to it. I'm actually surprised more kids aren't terrified.

Oh you're welcome. I love that Disney does things like that. If you're not aware, you can also see a photo of Mr Toad handing over the deed to the building to Owl on Winnie the Pooh as well.

Haha, so spot on!!

I also adore Philharmagic! Mmmm pie! 60 minute wait at SFR? Sure, I bet! Walter Disneyland World, haha nice. A land where everything is backwards! Philharmagic is so great. I remember smelling that pie for the first time and asking my friend if he could smell it too. It was so vivid.

Hehe, someone was having some fun with that wait time.

I think the strategy is a sound one, but it probably would create quite a few Guest Relations enemies in the process. :rotfl:

Those floats are heavenly.

I am totally counting on you to get a photo of the mermaid Wendy. If you can't do it, it can't be done.

I think that's probably a big reason why I have to ride it even if I ride nothing else in FL. It's total nostalgia.

Thanks Wendy. I really do like that camera.

Great update.

Thank you!!!

Haha, totally. You can thank Brenda (emmysmommy) for that one. Too funny!!

Yeah, I've seen that game. I'm not a gamer, but the concept for that seems pretty neat.

I love Philarmagic too! It's one of my absolute favorites!

Spencer and I walked through Swiss our last trip, definitely not very exciting unfortunately haha!

I wanna see the Move Shake it Parade on my next trip, I haven't seen it yet!

YAY Philmarmagic!!! I just can't miss it.

Haha, yeah I went through last October. I did like some of the views from up there though so if nothing else, there's some nice photo ops.

OMG Jess, YES YOU DO!!!!! I want to see it MORE! It's such a high energy thing. I think you'll love it. Maybe you can get Spencer to join in on the dancing to!!

Great update, Rob! I saw Philharmagic a few times this past week. In fact, I'm waiting for my plane at MCO after 7 wonderful days at Disney. Always so depressing, isn't it? But at least your update is distracting the depression for now ;)

Aww Tracy I knew you were down there too. Thanks so much for checking in on that depressing trip home. It really is the worst.

Thank you for the kind words. I'm so glad I'm able to provide a bit of a distraction.

Philharmagic!!! I absolutely love this attraction too. You described it perfectly, funny & moving. The songs!! I'm so lucky that I grew up during the "disney renaissance".

Love your partners shot. So pretty!

Aww thank you Jennifer. It's so wonderful. You are for sure lucky to have grown up during the renaissance. Such a special period in Disney history.

Hahah, right??!! I totally agree though, it's a great place for photos.

Yeah, I really really like the citrus swirl. All those flavours are a great combo.

Bruno Mars :rotfl2:

Bahaha, true. But I so loved that ride when I was a kid. I was so ridiculously excited to ride it last year at D-Land.

Thank you. Move It Shake It for me is all about the performers. They really make all the difference. Even on this day they were very interactive.
You may have missed the shirt since I don't think I pointed it out. But you should be able to see it in any photo that I'm in.

Aww thanks. That statue is perfection.

Haha, you find Buzz more frustrating than fun? Isn't that the fun part!?!?

Nice score though. I'm so pathetic, I know exactly which targets to hit, so if I don't get a good score. Well.....you don't even wanna go there. :rotfl:

Overestimation of wait times is actually a pretty common thing in theme parks. We used to do it all the time at Six Flags.

Bahaha, yeah probably.

Thanks! I want so bad to max it out!!!

OMG I know, it was priceless. I wish I knew what caused it.

True that!! :thumbsup2

Yeah, very true. It's a great technique actually. Definitely better to over-estimate than under. Like if I was in a line that said 30 minutes, but I only waited 15, I'd be excited. Not so much the other way. It's probably a good thing for guest satisfaction.

SFRT a 60 minute wait :rotfl2: I also like Philharmagic !

Oh Mary, I just found that so funny. Like that would never happen. I was actually surprised the sign even had the capability to show 60 minutes. :lmao:

Any update that begins with Stacey quotes is gonna be good. :thumbsup2

You're probably right about the Treehouse wait time. There is no way it was really 60 minutes. Maybe during Christmas week. And does that mean 60 minutes before you get to the stairs, or what? Hmm.

Interesting mermaid photo. I can't really make it out but at least now I know what to look for!

People want a Peter Pan update? Ahh why. That's one of those things I want to stay just as it is, really.

Hi April, you're a lurker no longer so it's my absolute pleasure to :welcome: you.

Ha. Well, thanks. :) I do taxes for a living - acronyms are my life ;)

ROB I HAVE BIG NEWS.

I don't know if I can link to it, but this Twitter I follow called DLifestylers posted a picture of an "I Conquered It's a Small World" shirt Disney is now selling at DHS.

I hope you're collecting royalties!!!

Ahhh, a truer statement has never been spoken Lia!! :lovestruc

Haha, nope not a chance it was 60 minutes. Presumably it would be before you get to the stairs, but you know, I never really even thought about it. That's interesting. Now I'm trying to remember if there is even a queue area there? Anytime I've done it (which admittedly has been very little) I just walked right up. Hmmm...

Yeah, there's honestly not much to see sadly. Since it's just a projection, it doesn't seem to show up really well. I know I briefly saw it, and you could kind of tell it was a mermaid, but it just doesn't show up clear at all. But it is on both sides of the boat and right before the mermaid skeleton scene.

I have heard people wanting that. Crazy right??!! The relative low tech is what makes it so charming I think. It's the one Fantasyland ride I have to do every time. I'm with you, leave it be.

Ha. Well, thanks. :) I do taxes for a living - acronyms are my life ;)

Haha, the sad thing is, I usually HATE acronyms.

OMG, I totally looked that up. :rotfl2:

Seriously it's about time. That's hysterical!!! I actually do prefer my wording of "survived" as opposed to "conquered", so I can still wear my shirt without conflict. Though I may have to make a purchase of this bad boy as well. :scratchin

Another Little Something Extra From The Real World...

Hi gang!! :wave2:

I know I chime in periodically to say it but it never seems to be often enough, so,

THANK YOU for all your wonderful comments, opinions, and stories and just for continuing to follow along.

You will never know how much it means to me. :goodvibes

I originally joined the DIS just this past March simply to share some stories and hopefully interact a bit with some like minded people.

Little did I know at that time how much of an impact it would have on my life.

I feel so blessed to have “met” so many wonderful people, which is far beyond any and all expectations I had going in.

I certainly never expected to develop actual friendships, but that is exactly what happened.

I actually noted on Facebook recently that I think I have more interaction with people from Disboards than I do with people I’ve known for years.

There are still a couple more updates remaining for this day and then a whole other day yet to come.

So, by my calculations, I figure this TR should be finished up sometime a little before I leave for…

cd.jpg

That’s right, I just booked yet another trip back to the world for this coming December 3-12.

Gotta work that ANNUAL PASS!!! to its very core. Burn baby burn!!

And after much thinking and debating, I just finally decided to stay the whole time again at POP.

I had considered a split stay with a few days at a deluxe at the end (specifically Wilderness Lodge or AKL),
But when I did the math it just made more financial sense to stay at POP (clearly I'm a math genius). :scratchin

I can still visit them anyway!

This did prompt me to add one more day on the trip than I had originally planned. ::yes::

Now, this trip was originally conceived a while back to be a gift trip for my parents, but in talking things over with my father, he just didn’t feel comfortable traveling right now.
He has appointments and other things coming up, so hopefully it can still happen in the future.

In the meantime, he told me I should just go, so I am.

I don’t have any intention of doing any type of PTR really, but I may add some odds and ends here if there’s anything noteworthy.

For instance, I will be attending my second ever Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party on December 10 (which is ironically the same date as my first back in 2009).

It was also the last time my parents were in WDW and was also my father’s birthday.

bd.jpg

As you can see by that cake, we spare no expense in this family.

My Mickey Ear Santa Hat is all ready to go, shown here with my niece as we displayed our Mickey and Donald love.

md-1.jpg

On that trip we all arrived on December 5th, so we celebrated my father's birthday on the 10th and my niece's birthday on the 11th.

This year, the December 3rd arrival date was picked specifically so that my first full Disney day will be December 4th.

Why is that important?

Well… December 4th is MY birthday, and I have ALWAYS wanted to be IN Walt Disney World on my actual birthday.

I do hope to meet some other Disers as I know there will be some floating around,

PLUS…

A VERY SPECIAL EVENT on December 7 made possible by the amazing generosity of Brenda (aka emmysmommy).

I have been graciously invited to be her guest on an Illuminations Cruise!!!!!!!!!

ic.jpg

Needless to say, I am over the moon excited for this. :hyper:

Seriously, I just can’t tell you how this felt. I really can’t.

There are just no words other than to say that this is simply one of the kindest things anyone has ever done for me ever, and it kind of left me speechless.

This is something I’ve always wanted to do, and not only am I getting to do it, I get to do it with DIS royalty!!

Other than those amazing hi-lights, there are no major plans to report as I expect to be fairly free and open and just “flow with the wind”.

I may take a day trip to Seaworld to see the amazing Seawold Christmas Celebration, but I'm undecided right at this moment.

Obviously I will focus a lot on Christmas related items like The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights, which I’m really excited to see again,

And of course all the resort decorations like the Grand Floridian Gingerbread House, which I missed last time.

Oh, and one other little thing I am pretty stoked about as well…

gs.jpg

Oh Yes, these will be mine!

Anyway, that’s it for now.

I hope you all have a Magical Day! pixiedust:

WOW!!! Look at all the happiness in that one little post!! So happy for you that you get to go back AND hang out with Emmysmommy!! What fun!

I love the pic of your dad blowing out his candles :goodvibes

:cool1: Congrats! :cool1:

I'll have to keep an eye out for you (and emmysmommy since I love her TR's also) since I'll be there the 1st -7th.

A bit of bad news though, IASW is down that week. :sad1:
