“IF THIS IS A DREAM, I DON’T WANT TO WAKE UP!” – POP! Goes The Solo Trip **THE END**

THE MOST EMOTIONAL, MEMORABLE, UNBELIEVEABLY WONDERFUL,
PERFECTLY MAGICAL MOMENT IN TIME... EVER!
Day 4 – April 30, 2013 Part 2

I still had about a half hour before my Toy Story passes could be used, so I just sort of wandered.

On my wandering, I found myself outside the Muppet Theatre.

41.jpg

I really wasn’t feeling another show just now, but there was one thing I was feeling just inside the entrance…

42.jpg

43.jpg

I finally got this photo after years of forgetting! :hyper:

I decided to ride Start Tours since the wait was short, and YAY, I got the Wookie scene.
This one is so good and funny. I just love it.

Anything other than the Pod Race though and I’m good.

Afterwards, I briefly watched some young Padawans fight the Dark side…

44.jpg

45.jpg

OK… Seriously… Dude…
Do you think it’s a good idea to hold a light saber like that???
And you’re the one teaching these kids.

46.jpg

No wonder the Jedi almost went extinct.

After watching the genius “teacher” almost cutting one young girl in half ,
And following that by basically cutting his own hand off,

My Toy Story passes were ready for use.

The queue here is truly spectacular.
Plus, being less than 3, I got to use the famous "blue gate".

47.jpg

48.jpg

51.jpg

52.jpg

53.jpg

54.jpg

OK, so my score wasn’t great, as my goal was to break 200K.

However, in my defence, one of my screens (the one where you toss the hoops over their heads), did not display in 3D for me.
So I had absolutely no idea what was happening as it was just a blurry mess.

Now, I’m not saying I would have broken the 200K goal if this screen had been working but…

Ok… that’s exactly what I’m saying.

Even though I didn’t beat my goal, I had fun anyway, and isn’t that really what it’s all about?

Before leaving, I wanted to get one more ToT ride in, which I did, but this is also the other ride photo that I was unable to get due to idiots.

So, that out of the way, I made my way out of the park and sped off to Downtown Disney.

It was mid afternoon at this point so I was getting a little hungry.

So I decided on a place I (shockingly) had never eaten before…

55.jpg

I had heard amazing things about this place, so I was eager to try it.

I got into the line; placed my order; was handed a pager; continued on in the line; ordered a frozen lemonade; got my frozen lemonade; paid; and then moved to the side to await the ringing of the pager.

And wait.

And wait.

And wait.

People were coming to and fro with ringing pagers and picking up their food while I stood there waiting.

I asked a gentleman who had gotten his order how long it took.
His reply was about 4 minutes.

So I said, “Oh ok. So 20 minutes would be a long time then, right?”

Seriously, I stood there for 20 minutes and nothing.

So I asked one of the folks working and showed him my receipt.
He went away for a minute and then returned to tell me it would be along shortly.

So basically... THEY LOST MY SANDWICH!!!!!!

Eventually I did get my sandwich, and while no one was rude, they didn’t seem too apologetic either.

So I took my sandwich and my mostly finished frozen lemonade outside to enjoy in the sun.

56.jpg

The verdict? The sandwich itself was fantastic.

Will I return.? That’s debatable.

You only have one chance at a first impression, and from a service standpoint, that impression was not good.

Anyway, I was refilled so I continued on my mission which would take place here…

57.jpg

I had a few items I was after, but the main item was a 2013 mini Snow Globe.

I’ve been collecting these for a few years, so I wanted to make sure I got this before I left.
I came to World of Disney because I couldn’t find it in any of the other stores I’d looked in.

The first place I went to was the Information Desk.

At first, the gentleman told me they didn’t make one this year.
I knew this was incorrect as I’d seen photos of it online

He checked his computer and verified that, yes indeed, they did make one this year,

…But they were completely sold out on property.

This was April 30.

Last year I ran into the exact same problem for the 2012 snow globe as it was completely sold out in October and they were not bringing any more in.
Thankfully the one I got in Disneyland last year was identical (except for the park name on it).

So to me this sounds like it just might be a somewhat popular item.

How about maybe ORDERING MORE!!!!!!!!

Anyway, I did not get my snow globe at this time.

I am happy to say that I was finally able to purchase it at the Disney Store online recently (They were sold out online as well for a while).

So, I do now have my 2013 snow globe… along with some other stuff too.

ds1.jpg

At the time though, I DID buy a shirt and hat with my ANNUAL PASS!!! discount.

I also picked up a set of Mickey Ears for my co-worker, Rachel, since she had mentioned to me that these were something she always wanted.

I was surprised to find out, though, that they don’t do the engraving in World of Disney!

So after purchasing, I hoofed it all the way to the very end of Downtown Disney and got the ears engraved.

I was a little bit out of sorts due my less than awesome Downtown Disney experience.

I pulled out of the parking lot to make my way back to POP when , coming up to a set of lights, I spotted a turtle making his way across the busy road.

We're talking like six or eight lanes of road here.

I wanted to immediately stop the car, jump out and rescue this poor creature.
Unfortunately with this stretch of road, the headline would have read,

"Twenty car pile up outside Downtown Disney caused by idiot trying to rescue turtle.
Lack of snow globes blamed for his stupidity."

Thankfully all the other cars noticed this turtle crossing as well and slowed down or stopped long enough to let him pass.

When the turtle recognized the volume of automobiles in his path, he turned on the overdrive, hoisted himself up, and booked.

Trust me when I tell you that this guy would have left the hare in his dust.
He was motorin'.
I had no idea a turtle could move like that, but apparently they can.

After making sure he made his way safely across, I went back to POP to regroup before setting out for the evening.

Little did I know that I was about to have one of my most memorable nights in Disney…

Ever.

TO BE CONTINUED…

Aww, your Johanna post was wonderful, I love when TRs include a little bit of "real life" stuff. I always send World Vision gifts on my birthday and at Christmas each year but when I make more money I really want to sponsor a child! Especially after seeing what a great relationship you and Johanna have :) That picture she drew is PRICELESS, I hope it's up on your fridge!

I like the underlying turtle theme in your other update also! Player 1 on TSMM (who was totally letting you win best in vehicle, btw!) got a turtle as their prize, and then you rescued a poor little turtle later that day. Love it! And I would have LOVED to see a turtle moving at top speed, too bad you didn't catch a video!

I hope you do give Earl of Sandwich another try!! I agree that first impressions matter a whole lot, but Earl is SO DELICIOUS and you didn't even try the chocolate banana smoothie, which in itself is cause for a return trip ::yes:: I think you must have just gone on the one day when all the unhappy CMs were working. I've been 5 or 6 times and I wouldn't say I've ever had 'magical' Disney service there, but I've never felt like I was treated rudely or anything.

Can't wait to read about the most memorable magical night EVER!!

Caught up on Day 1. Okay, so how did you get a picture of the Welcome sign if you were driving? :confused3:scared:

Nice photoshop job where you superimposed the "correct" name of MGM. (The picture with the girl with the big merch bag.)

Glad that you enjoyed that showing of Fantasmic! so much. Sounded like a great evening.

I only found this thread tonight and have only read day one so far but I had to pause reading to say THANK YOU :)
It's a fantastic report so far, all the photos and your style of writing really make me feel like I'm living it with you. Traveling solo must be AWESOME and liberating!

Thank you so much for telling me to go see Walt's Dream. We've only been to WDW once and I really wanted to but assumed my children would be bored so skipped it. I am a HUGE Walt fan, so believe me, next time I will be there! And from all of your photos I can tell you that I will have children enjoying it too :cool1:

And WOW at Fantasmic! I can honestly say I had tears in my eyes (and may have shed one or two) reading along with you. Simply epic.

More comments...

I think that the girl making the fish-face during your first trip on EE outdid you. Just sayin'.

Ooo, glad you got your wallet back. That woulda been disastrous. And yes, I have visited Guest Services for lost items on a couple of occasions. :(

Pocohontas as Cher -- love it! If she only flung her hair over her shoulder every 2 seconds.

I can't decide which EE kid-pic I like better....the little girl in picture 8, or the little boy in picture 9. :rotfl2:

The Most Annoying Family Ever would've had front-row seats for your duet with Cher, and they certainly didn't deserve that, so it was probably better that you left. (Great use of gifs in that section of the report, btw, especially that "make them go away" one. :rotfl:)

So cool that you found out on Space Earth that in the future....you'll be TWINS!!!

I agree, I like those temporary Character Spot backdrops better. I kinda can't stand the real ones.

Thanks for the review of the Keys to the Kingdom Tour. :thumbsup2

Is this gif from "The Graduate"?

wt.gif

Seeing glimpses of Wishes while driving away -- done that!

Great photos from ToT. I might have to try that someday.

Thanks for sponsoring Johanna! :goodvibes

Sorry that you didn't break 200K on TSMM, but at least you got "Best in Vehicle", so that's some consolation, right? ;)

Oh, you should try Earl of Sandwich again. They're usually quite speedy in delivering your food. I think your experience was an unfortunate fluke.

And with that, I'm officially caught up on both of your TR's. Man, you're gettin' slow!

ARGH! CLIFFHANGER!

At least you looked out for the turtle. And got to finally eat your sandwich. I'll definitely be making a trip to Earl of Sandwich. I think your experience was definitely out of the ordinary.

I have to keep track of all my TSM scores on my trip...which will be in 13 DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (excuse me while I go a little nuts)

Oh. Right. Your trip report. Great update about Johanna. I heard about that organization at a missions conference that I went to. They do great work!

Hi Rob! Thank you for sharing about Johanna! World Vision is such a great organization and you're helping to change her life through your generosity! How awesome to know there is a lifetime impact for what you do. That picture she sent is so cute - especially you with a purse. (At least that's what it looked like to me!) :p

As for your TR update.... Ahhh I MUST remember to look for the key under the mat at Muppets 3D but I just remembered that it is closed for refurb next month. I'll have to wait until December to confirm this best kept secret. Well, probably not a secret since there is a sign announcing the key is under the mat.

Ha ha! So funny about the Jedi Master and his hand on his light saber... I'm sure that in Jedi training 101 it is a known fact that if your saber is engaged don't touch it!! In that 3rd photo of the kid with the saber... one swift upswing and Darth Vader will be toast.

Your TSM score beat my last attempt and I don't even have an excuse! Statistically speaking with your 32% accuracy rate and the number of missed targets due to your screen not working and the number of secret targets I calculate that yeah..... you'll have to stay tuned... I'm giving you a cliff hanger like you gave us!! :p

I LOVE Earl of Sandwich. You had a poor example of service at EoS. I couldn't tell which kind of sandwich you had but my personal favorites are the roast beef and the caprese.

At least you were able to buy your 2013 snow globe on line. So strange that they were sold out in October.

Ok.... waiting... waiting... still waiting for your next update.

still.....

waiting......

Yeah....

I love it when rain empties out the parks a bit! It also usually cools things down, which is generally good ;)

Lucky you, getting one of those Toy Story fastpasses! I still have my (unused) one from my last trip because the ride was down and never ended up opening while I was there (that story is still to come in my TR). I feel like actually having a TSM fastpass is a rare souvenir!

And I love the Beauty and the Beast show! It's one of my favorite movies and I always try to get to the show while I'm there if I can.

Awww, how nice of you to be a World Vision Sponsor! Johanna is beautiful, and it is amazing what you are doing for her and her family :goodvibes

I can't believe you'd never been to Earl of Sandwich! Though that's totally awful they made you wait that long. I'm glad you enjoyed the food though. Which sandwich did you get? I love it there, we try to go on almost every trip. The Full Montagu is my favorite!

Haha, we have a funny family story about a turtle in the road - when my parents were on their honeymoon, my dad saw a turtle in the road and stopped the car to pick it up and help it across. Well, the turtle ended up biting him! It seemed he did not want the help!

And you've left me in suspense once again!!

Aww, thanks for sharing Johanna and her story with us. That is awesome that you do that.

Now onto the Disney comments...

Gotta love watching the little Padawans battle Darth Vader. We always get a good laugh out of that show. And the Jedi Master (or whatever you want to call him) is always pretty funny too.

TOY STORY MANIA!!! Love that ride. I'd say your score is pretty good despite only seeing a blurry mess. :rotfl:

Wow, sorry you had a bad first experience at Earl of Sandwich. Usually the service there is pretty fast. When Dad and I were there in April the line was literally out the door when we got there and it took maybe 20-30 minutes for us to get through. Hopefully you'll decide to go back there sometime.

Yay for getting your snowglobe and other souvenirs!

What a cutie Johanna is!! Thank you for doing your part to try to make the world a happier & better place.

I'm going to go find the key my next trip. The muppets are the best. I love that show.

Dude I don't know what year you were born, but that is definitely not the way you hold a light saber! Get an education from the old star wars movies soon please!!

Toy story mania! That ride is one of my favorites. You did better than I have! It's my goal to get 200000 at least once.

Wow...disney usually has it so together. I can't believe they lost your order! That's so odd for them.

World of disney!! Wow, what a downer trip to downtown disney. Lose your order, no snow globe... At least you got your AP discount going for you. PS, how nice of you to get ears for your co worker!! So sweet.

Thank you for trying to save that turtle! I'm glad he was a quick mover. I hate when I see animals in traffic. I'm always praying that everyone is paying attention to look out for them.

Cliffhanger! I can't wait to hear about your memorable night!!!

Your Earl of Sandwich experience sounds strangely similar to mine...curiouser and curiouser!

"Twenty car pile up outside Downtown Disney caused by idiot trying to rescue turtle. Lack of snow globes blamed for his stupidity." LOL! That would definitely be an attention-getting headline! I'd sure stop to read the story! :lmao:

Aww, your Johanna post was wonderful, I love when TRs include a little bit of "real life" stuff. Thank you so much Suzi! It's a wonderful organization and I'm very lucky to have been given a wonderful child to sponsor.
Believe me, I have MANY drawings up on the fridge.

Haha, that's exactly what I was trying to do. So glad you picked up on that. :rolleyes1
I know, player 1 absolutely sucked!
I was SHOCKED  at how fast a turtle can run. It was unreal.

I imagine I will try again as the sandwich was REALLY GOOD! Nobody was really rude at all. It just would have been nice to acknowledge the mistake. That''s really all I wanted. Haha, but I'm over it now.

And I can't wait to start telling it! Soon!

Caught up on Day 1. Okay, so how did you get a picture of the Welcome sign if you were driving? :confused3:scared:

Nice photoshop job where you superimposed the "correct" name of MGM. (The picture with the girl with the big merch bag.)

Yay Glenn. Wow, you must've had a slow day today. Hmm, I refuse to answer that on the grounds that it might incriminate me. :rolleyes1

Thank you. It really does look better doesn't it? Haha, that kid with that big bag still makes me giggle.

OMG it was soooooooo awesome. I can't even.

I only found this thread tonight and have only read day one so far but I had to pause reading to say THANK YOU :)

Oh wow thank you SO MUCH Elaine!!!!! and I'm so pleased to :welcome: you.
Solo really is surprisingly fun and I really wasn't sure it would be. But I had one of my best trips EVER.

Definitely see One Man's Dream. I cannot stress that enough. I always say that it should be required, and I truly believe that. As a Walt fan, you will LOVE IT!!!! I think your kids may just like it too. ;)

Aww thank you. It was unbelievably memorable. I was just loving every second of it. Well, I always do, but this one was just extra special.

Thank you SO MUCH for reading. :goodvibes

p.s. I had a peek at your blog and really enjoyed it. You have some adorable children and I have to say I LOVE your hair colour(s).

Wow Glenn you're really cruisin' :moped:

Haha, yup I have to agree with that for sure. That one was good.

OMG it was scary! I will add that I've had AWESOME luck at Animal Kingdom for lost items. In 2009 my niece lost her phone off the safari... but somehow it turned up at Guest Relations.

I can't look at her without thinking that anymore. My God it was funny.

Bahaha, I know. They're both good. I think I lean to the one in pic eight.

Oh believe me it would have been FABULOUS!!! People would have gathered from all around for that one! That "go away" gif is one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

I know right?! But then nobody DEFINITELY deserves THAT! Honestly though, I have no idea how that happened.

I remembered you mentioning that before. Honestly I thought about you when I saw it since I know how much you disliked the regular one. No lie.

You are VERY welcome. it's a great tour.

You know, I'm not sure. :scratchin

Haha, you beat me to it.

Definitely do that. Sometimes those shots aren't available, but it's such a great shot.

Believe me, it's MY pleasure.

Best in Vehicle was certainly better than nothing.

I probably will. Everybody else seemed to be getting their food quickly, so I'm sure it was just a fluke.

WOW that's an amazing accomplishment. I will do my best to move a little quicker from now on. :lmao:

Seriously though, thank you so much for reading! :goodvibes

Haha, sorry Lauren. Like a good novel, I have to build suspense. ;)

I do too honestly. The sandwich was really good. I'm sure I'll be back.

AHHHH 13 DAYS!!!!!!! So jealous.

They really do. I feel so honored to be a part of it.

Great update :thumbsup2 Aww Johanna is beautiful!

Thank you Mary. Johanna is truly precious... and growing like a weed.

Hi Rob! Thank you for sharing about Johanna! World Vision is such a great organization and you're helping to change her life through your generosity! Yeah....

Believe me it's my pleasure Brenda. I'm so happy to be a part of making a child, nay a family, nay a whole community better.
Haha, It does look like a purse. Not sure what she was going for there. I think it's my suitcases as I head off to Disney. :thumbsup2

Definitely look for it the next time you can. I think its still a pretty good secret since most people wouldn't think Disney would be THAT detailed. Of course we all know better.

I was just laughing at this so hard. Like, what are you doing dude????

Bahahaha, well thank you for making me feel better about my score AND for repaying me with a cliffhanger.

The sandwich WAS great, no doubt. I'm sure I will give it another go.

I thought it was weird too. By December it can be hard to get anything for that year. I was happy to at least get one, but being in Canada it is SO expensive for shipping. That's why I ended up getting some extras.

Oh dear, I'm sorry to make everyone wait. I just want to post and be done... but where's the fun in that. ;)

I love it when rain empties out the parks a bit! It also usually cools things down, which is generally good ;)

Totally agree with that. People who stay away (and I'm glad they do) don't know what they're missing.

OMG I got a sneak peak at a future update!!! Oooh I could post a comment beforehand and it'll look like I have psychic powers. :wizard:
Seriously though, an unused TSM fastpass truly is a rare thing indeed.

I was really impressed with Beauty and the Beast. I loved it.

Thanks Becky. It really is MY pleasure. She's growing up quick.

I know!!! From what I've heard it was probably just a fluke. Everyone else seemed to be moving along quickly. I think I also had the Full Montagu or maybe the Earl's Club. How awful that I can't remember for sure.

Haha, to be honest that also crossed my mind. I didn't want to cause a traffic issue AND get bit for my trouble.

Ahh sorry. There are a few magical moments to come, I promise. I just had to get through the first part of the day first

Yay for getting your snowglobe and other souvenirs!

Thanks so much Sarah. I just adore that kid.

It really is enjoyable. Some of those kids get pretty intense. But that Master just really made me :lmao:

Thanks!! It was just the one screen that was faulty, but I like to pretend it was the reason I didn't hit my goal.

I think everyone has convinced me to give it another go, so I'm sure I will.

Thank God for Disney Store online is all I have to day about that.

My thoughts exactly! Can't wait.

Ahh sorry. It's still to come I assure you. Thank you for your patience. :)

What a cutie Johanna is!! Thank you for doing your part to try to make the world a happier & better place.

Cliffhanger! I can't wait to hear about your memorable night!!!

Aww thank you Jennifer. It's truly my honour.

Make sure you do. It's really cool.
Bahaha, it was so funny to me. I think some re-training is is order.

That is totally my goal as well. One day it will happen.

I think this is run independantly, but I could be wrong. The sandwich was good at least. :thumbsup2

It was disappointing to be sure. But on the bright side I did eventualy get what I was after. And thank you... she was REALLy excited!

Oh me too. My God he was quick though. It was funny actually to see a turtle move so fast.

I know I keep with the cliffhangers... but I'm getting there I promise!

:lmao:

Hmmm Interesting... :scratchin Really good sandwich though.

Bahaha, I agree... That's a story I would most definitely read.

I had a little extra moisture in my eyes with your Johanna post. You're good people, Rob. Johanna is a very lucky, and beautiful little girl. I love her letter and her drawing, how wonderful that she is doing so well.

Onto your update!

You found the Muppets key!! I keep forgetting. I need to tie a string around my finger or something.
Nothing worse than when a restaurant makes a pretty big mistake and offers no apology. All it takes is a "sorry about that! Our bad!"
Seriously, sold out of the snow globes in APRIL?! Wow. That's bad!
Glad you got it though!
So glad everyone stopped for the turtle!
A cliffhanger? No way!
