Talk to me about summer trips

For us, we would never do summer again. While we are rope droppers and midday breakers during the heat, the heat is too much for our family. For us, it is not enjoyable if we are melting and uncomfortable. The stress of keeping everyone extra hydrated and cool was not fun.

    Stroller for almost 8-year-old??

This!! Our last trip my daughter just turned 8 and my son was 5. We haven't used a stroller at home in years. We rented a double from a stroller rental company and loved having it when we needed it. The first few mornings we left it at the resort because we stay at the park until lunch and then...

    Akershus or Cinderella's RT?

While it is clearly better value to do Akershus and Trattoria, I would highly recommend trying to get CRT. Having been to Akershus 4 times before finally getting CRT this last trip, I have to say CRT is magical! There is nothing like being in the castle, the princesses were amazing and the...

    Going strollerless

I think you will need it. It is a tremendous amount of walking for little legs day in day out. My two were 7 and 5 on our recent trip and we needed the stroller just about every other day and most nights if we went back out. Truthfully it was also easier to get around at crowded times.

    Akershus Royal Banquet

We have been 3 times for breakfast and always enjoyed it. Some of my favorite Disney memories are of my daughter when she was 2, 4 and again at age 6 interacting with the princesses there. So magical!

Can an average ht 8 yo fit in the disney strollers?

My children no longer use a stroller at home but in WDW we totally need it. They tire easily and we would much rather let them rest or snack as we head to another land that take a million breaks sitting on a bench. Do what works for your family! That being said, we find the rented city mini GT...

    Park Hopper with young kids?

Our children are 7 and 5 and have been hopping on every trip since the youngest was 18 months. Like some previous posters we like the flexibility to switch it up based on their preferences for any given trip. That being said, we are midday breakers always! So we head back out to a different park...

Does park hopping really wipe you out?

We always hop! Stay onsite, rope drop until after lunch, back to resort for a break with the kids, sometimes pool, sometimes just playing in the room and we chill on the balcony. Then we prefer to go back out to a different park around 4-5pm for dinner and touring the evening. Not our style to...

Help me get excited about planning next trip!

I have to say each trip with our kids becomes the best ever! As they get older they become interested in different things, sometimes become a little braver, stay up later, etc. Last trip was a surprise the morning of, the kids were 6 and just turned 4. We stayed on the monorail for the first...

Diaper bags v. backpacks in the parks?

While I don't recommend a bulky diaper bag, in all our trips I was never a fan of a backpack. Tried it once and besides it making me way too hot, stopping i order to grab something out of it was annoying. LOL. The cross body was either right on me or hanging over the handle of the stroller so I...

    Sweltering Summer or Crazy Crowds

Having gone at both times, we have said no way never again to summer. We found that we were so worn out from the heat and humidity we did less than on previous trips. We would rather deal with crowds than heat!

    # of Days in each park?

In case anyone is interested, moved some stuff around. You guys had great points and suggestions! We love shopping at Disney Springs so we switched to lunch and a break from waking up early. Arrival Day: MK (it's a first day tradition) until we tire out (which is usually around dinner) Day 2 AK...

    # of Days in each park?

I think that seems to be the consensus-what are our kids' preferences. When they talk about our last trip to WDW, it is all about MK! The next time we go, the magic is going to be a little different as our children get a couple years older. We are a hopping family, always have been. :) We hop...

    # of Days in each park?

Thanks! As of now the parks are not open later than 8pm at DHS, and 7pm at AK when we are there. Not willing to swap any MK nights because we want to see Happily Ever After and the other night is the Christmas party. But definitely going to consider changing an MK day to one of the other two parks.

    # of Days in each park?

Hi everyone! We are headed to WDW the first week of December. DH thinks we have too much Magic Kingdom in our plans. Is that even possible? This will be our first time going during the holiday season. Staying at Poly. Our daughter is 7 and our son is 5.We usually like to rope drop a park in the...

    How many days?

I personally think 6-7 days does the parks justice. We have gone anywhere from 5-9 days over the years before we had children, with babies, toddlers and now our 5 and 7 year olds. Any every trip was magical and filled with memories. Some trips we saw and did more because it was cooler, or less...

    'Ohana dinner for picky kids

I am guessing it would just be the normal child's price for dinner/# of credits. We paid out of pocket. :)
