2 MONTHS FROM TODAY I AM GOING TO DISNEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :yay:

    Okay now for the update.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Chapter 19: Our Lazy Morning
    December 8th, 2011

This morning I woke up a little after 9:00 am. That's a little late for Disney, I know. But I needed to catch up on my sleep!

The night before I took one of my acne pills immediately before I went to bed... and I think it settled the wrong way because when I woke up my throat was burning. :( Ugh, great. What an unpleasant feeling to have in Disney World. Especially on the day of my audition!

I got up, showered, and got ready! We left the room and went to The Riverside Mill for breakfast!

They have a FANTASTIC selection! There were so many choices, I didn't even know what to get!

I ended up getting Raisin Bran with strawberries and raspberries on top. The fruit was a bit tart, but the cereal tasted great!

Mom got some oatmeal with strawberries, raspberries, and yogurt. The fruit tasted fine to her! She also got a banana and some coffee!

Once we ate, we went outside to take some pictures! It may look sunny, but it was actually very chilly out that morning!

Apparently I stayed at Port Orleans Riverside back when it was called Dixie Landings. I vaguely remember this big wheel!

Port Orleans Riverside is so pretty! A huge regret I have about this trip is that I didn't make enough time to really explore the resort. I mean, we didn't even get to see the pool! I guess I'll just have to stay there again someday!

We went inside and took some time to look in the gift shop! The Christmas Tree in the lobby was so pretty!

From the pictures, the blue skies might have you thinking that the weather was really nice that day. Well... do not be deceived. It was sunny, but it was definitely on the chilly side. It was December, after all. We had to go back to the room so I could put some jeans on before leaving the resort!

We drove to Downtown Disney after that.

We arrived and I decided to get a smoothie! That sounded like it would coat my throat well. It was Strawberry Banana Flavored and it tasted really good. It definitely helped!

We went into the Art of Disney store and the T-Shirt store just to look around. We also browsed through the pin store!

    I love the princesses!

Downtown Disney is very relaxed this early in the morning. It gave us a chance to just take it all in!

At 11:30 am we headed over to T-Rex for our lunch ADR! Woohoo!

This was our first time eating here and I was SUPER excited! I had heard great things!

The decor starts before you even enter the restaurant! IT'S SO AWESOME!

I asked if we could sit in the Ice Age room and my request was granted!

It was SO cool in there! (Yes, pun intended. Ice... Cool... Ha. Ha.) Oh my gosh, I loved it! It was dark and very loud, but since it was just me and my Mom we didn't mind that at all!

There are less animatronics in the Ice Age room but the giant ice wall CHANGES COLORS during the meteor showers! (that occur every.. 15 minutes?) That totally makes up for it.

We were both so excited to be here!

    Let the adventure begin!

    Chapter 20: ROAR. DINOSAURS!
    December 8th, 2011

We placed our orders and then I got up to take pictures of the restaurant! T-Rex Cafe is definitely one of the most visually appealing restaurants I have ever been to!

If you have a dinosaur fan in your traveling party, you are DEFINITELY going to want to eat here!

    These dinosaurs are seriously life-sized!

    Jellyfish!

Similar to Rainforest Cafe, they have an aquarium in here, too!

    Why, hello there!

The room that housed these guys didn't have ONE person sitting in it yet! It was still so early in the morning so some of the rooms were completely empty. The restaurant started filling up more around 12 o'clock. You know, T-Rex is so big... I can't believe how difficult it is to get a reservation! (It's just that good, I guess!)

That giant octopus is over the bar area and... IT MOVES! That's basically insane.

    The Wooly Mammoth!

    ROOOOOAAAARRRRRRRRR!

Even the bathrooms are brilliant. Like... look at this.

    HE-REX:

    SHE-REX:

    BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

That's funny, right?! I thought that was clever.

The bathrooms are even decorated. Like... that's fantastic.

And this cool thing was near the restrooms as well. Such. Awesome. Decorations!!

I made it back to the table and our food arrived shortly after! For my lunch I ordered the T-Rexadillas!

Quesadillas are like one of my top favorite foods EVER. And T-Rex Cafe has my favorite quesadillas OF ALL TIME. Oh my gosh they are BEYOND amazing. They're just jam-packed with goodness. I don't know what they do to make them so perfect but WOW they're delicious. Absolutely fantastic!

And they are actually considered an appetizer, so if you're not finding them in the entree section, it's because they aren't there. Appetizer menu all the way!

I think I was only able to polish off three and a half of them. I would have definitely eaten them all if I could have! I think it came with five t-rexadillas total?

Mom got the Tomato Basil Soup:

As well as the Saber-Tooth Salad, which was an "iceberg, romaine, and mixed greens salad, with fresh pears, gorgonzola cheese, pistachios, grapes, dried apricots, and apple chips in a balsamic vinaigrette."

My Mom was EXTREMELY impressed with her food! She raved about it and still does to this day! I'm so happy that we both enjoyed our meals so much!

We left there VERY pleased! I couldn't wait to return! This place is just awesome, I absolutely love it, and I recommend it to everyone who asks me where to eat in Disney!

    Oh also....

Christmas Tip #14: At T-Rex Cafe, if you're using an Annual Pass discount, the discount is only taken off of the entrees. So if you get an appetizer, (such as the T-Rexadillas) that item is not discounted.

Just so you know! :-) I wasn't aware of that until I got there.

We headed toward the exit and I saw this sign and laughed.

WE ARE NOT IN EPCOT, YOU SILLY DINOSAURS!

Thank you T-Rex for a delightful lunch! I absolutely cannot get enough of this place! YOU ALL MUST GO MAKE A RESERVATION NOW!!

Oh no! I hope your burning throat didn't mess up your morning too much! :sad1:

Yay! I'm glad the smoothie helped! :thumbsup2

The ice age room at T-Rex is so cool! I want to eat in there the next time we go. :goodvibes

Great restaurant pictures! Haha I'm getting ready to post my T-Rex update right now in my June TR! That place is amazing, and John loves it! I will have to try those quesadillas next time...they look amazing! :lovestruc

Great post! I can't wait to read about your audition!

We enjoyed T-Rex last Jan too! The food portions were HUGE and yummy!

It was loud and so much going on. Sammy had a headache so she didn't enjoy it as much, but it was an amazing place that we'd def go again!

I hope yopur sore throat didn't interfere with your audition!

Aw, a burning throat is no fun. I hope it didn't last. :sad2:

T-REX WOOOOOO! Thankfully, the jelly fish are NOT life-size. Omg, imagine the terror.

Hahahha now I wish I had gone to the bathroom in there. SO funny. She-rex yall! :rotfl:

2 MONTHS!!!!!! Ahh!!! Do you have your ADRs booked and everything? I need details, woman!! I am suffering here. Oh man I wish I was going in two months. Well, two days. But you know.

I hear Riverside Mill is one of the best food courts. My friend raves about their create your own pasta. I don't know if you've had it but she says it's only $10 and is as good if not better than some of the TS restaurant pasta she has had. I am definitely hoping to stay at POR or FQ if we go in Sept.

Where did you get that smoothie from? I hope it helped your throat!

We fell in love with T-Rex on our trip too. We actually went there twice. The food is sooo delicious there we just had to go back again! And I had no idea it's usually hard to get an ADR, both times we had no ADR and didn't even have to wait for a table! I guess it depends on the time.

WE ARE NOT IN EPCOT, YOU SILLY DINOSAURS! :rotfl:

AHHH! I can't believe it's only 2 months until you guys are going back. Crazy. I'm so excited for y'all! :goodvibes

POR looks so pretty! And Riverside Mill sounds wonderful. I love a good CS restaurant with plenty of selection.

I'm glad they put your smoothie in an actual cup. When I got one in July, they gave it to me in a styrofoam coffee cup. :rotfl:

YAY! T-REX!! It's so strange to see it without a massive horde of people milling around outside. It was a madhouse when we went lol.

Your T-Rexadillas look delicious! I think I'll have to try those next time. I can't get over the bowl your mom's soup came in. It's too cute! I want some of those for my house.

Congrats on being two months away from pure bliss. Save some for me and my October trip!! TREX is a great place. It does get loud though. Funny thing, every time we go we are seated in the ice cave. I also have a tip for everyone!

Tip: If you are going to dine at TREX or Rainforest cafe be sure and join their safari club. Once becoming a member you don't have to wait in line or make ressies. You simply walk up and show your card. If they are really full, like no tables full, you'll have to wait for a bit, but not like those that don't have the membership. We have always been seated instantly even when they are handing out wait time to other folks.

Sorry, not meaning to hijack, just wanted to share a tip.

Your food looked delish and that is an insane amount of food for an appetizer. I noticed you went to...ahem...the potty room. Did you use the Dyson airknife? Personal question I know, but they are so cool. My kids actually want to wash their hands just to use them. If you ask me that's a win for sure for whomever was in the marketing department! TREX can be a little sensory overload, but fun nonetheless. Glad you enjoyed it.

I love TRex!! It's got such great food, and such great atmosphere. I like it better than Rainforest Cafe! We sat in the ice room in May, I totally love it! The changing colors were awesome! I didn't notice the inside of the bathrooms being decorated! That's great!! Love the updates

Aww thanks! It bothered me a little bit for the rest of the day, but overall I was pretty much able to ignore it. I hate when my throat hurts, it's the worst!

It is really cool! You should definitely request to sit in there!

Thank you! I had a lot of fun going around and taking them haha. Aww YESS I'm so excited to see that update. T-Rex is one of my top favorite restaurants! I'm glad you and John both love it. And mmm definitely try the quesadillas. They're my favorite thing EVER

I'm glad you guys got to go there too! I totally agree about the food. It's delicious!

Aww a headache and T-Rex would definitely be a bad combination. :headache: But I'm glad you guys didn't let that completely ruin it for you! Hopefully you'll make it back there soon!

Thank you! I was worried that it was going to, but thankfully it didn't!

Hahaha that's super funny! I just followed it on tumblr.

Thankfully I was able to ignore it (mostly) so I survived and it was better the next day.

Omg if Jellyfish were really that size in real life.... I would never set foot near an ocean!

Haha I'm glad you found that as amusing as I did! :rotfl:

    I agree!

It was really, really fun! I'm glad you liked those too haha

We actually don't have them booked yet! Crazy, I know. I think Kristen is waiting on her Dad calling the travel agent to book the room and stuff before we make ADR's. But we will tell you as soon as they're all set! I wish you could come with us... you need some Disney and you need it now!!!

I actually have not had the Create Your Own pasta but that sounds DELICIOUS. I'm a big pasta fan. Riverside Mill is fantastic... I really like it there! (ps if you're deciding between Riverside and French Quarter for September, my reccomendation is French Quarter. I like it a teensy bit more than Riverside. :thumbsup2)

I got that smoothie from this little smoothie place across from World of Disney by the water. My iPhone app is telling me that it's called "Forty Thirst Street Express" and it's right next to Wetzel's Pretzels!

Hahaha I'm so glad you went there twice... because the first place we went when we came back for Christmas was T-Rex AGAIN! We had to bring my Dad and my brother. And yeah it's super hard to get an ADR! But if you just show up at like 11:30-11:50 am they seat you without a problem! It's crazy!

I know, right!? It's so soon I can't believe it! Your trip is coming up soon too, missy! I'M SO EXCITED FOR YOU!

POR is beautiful! And Riverside Mill is a fantastic QS. Yum!

Haha oh boy, did they really!? That's frumpy. :rotfl: For some reason I'm thinking that my cup was made out of styrofoam but I can't remember. My mind might be making things up.

Lol oh yeah, T-Rex is super crowded later in the day. We were there at 11:30 am so it was pretty much a ghost town!

PLEASE GET THE T-REXADILLAS! You won't be disappointed! They're absolutely FANTASTIC!! And haha I know, even the bowls are themed! How perfect.

Thank you! Haha there is a never-ending supply of bliss at Disney World... I promise I won't hog it all! I'm glad you like T-Rex, too! And yes, it's definitely loud but that's okay. The food and atmosphere is awesome!

Thank you so much for that tip! That's a great one!!

I know, right!? It's only $10.49 for all of those quesadillas... which is enough for your entire meal! It's wonderful.

Yes, I did use that hand drier. THAT THING IS INTENSE OMG. It's like the coolest thing ever hahaha.

And oh yes, it definitely can be for some people, but I absolutely love it there! Thank you!

Me too! I totally agree! And yes, I like it better than Rainforest, too! Ahh I'm glad you got to sit in the Ice Cave too! It's so amazing in there! Thanks for reading!

AHHH I need some Disney and I need it now is right! I want to go so bad! It's all I keep talking about... I need help.

I like French Quarter more too! Just going by the pictures since I've never been there. But it's not available. I've priced out all the resorts and it's the only mod that I can't get for some reason. CBR is the cheapest but we just stayed there in 2010 and want to try a new place. We'll probably end up at Riverside, though AKL isn't much more and I REALLY wanna stay there. It's gonna be a split stay anyway so I was thinking about doing the first 5 nights at a mod to get the free dining and the last 5 elsewhere. I wanna rent DVC points... but i'll also miss my beloved POP... wow so much rambling. hah! See, I told you, I can't stop talking about it.

hahaha of course you would go there twice too!! Ahh it's so good! I'm so excited b/c we're going to Rainforest Cafe the day before my birthday (which is next month) and I just looked at the menu and they have the same tortellini that I got a T-REX! Yum!! It's gonna feel just like Disney... yes!!!

It's nice to go to DTD during the morning/early afternoon! T Rex is so much fun! I have been there twice; once to get a drink at the bar area and another time to get dinner. Your food looked amazing. Wish I got that! I'll have to go back to try it another time. My parents don't really care for T Rex or Rainforest. I'm not sure what's wrong with them lol. :) It's so exciting to wander around there and take pictures of all of the dinosaurs! Have you ever looked up Landry's? That's the name of the company that owns T Rex and Rainforest. They have a lot of other pretty cool sounding restaurants that I would love to go to!

I'm looking forward to hearing about the audition part. That's something I've never heard about and have always been curious about!

Nahh it's completely normal :thumbsup2 You just need to plan a trip, that's all!

Oh no, it's not available?! Dang, that stinks! But hey, POR is a wonderful second choice. Or AKL... omg you should stay there! See if it's doable... that resort is AMAZING! And aww I know you'll miss Pop, but you can visit! And there are probably many trips to come when you can stay there again!

hahaha we're the same. :p And aww that'll be so fun to go to a RFC on your birthday! Especially if they have that tortellini! It sounds like the second best thing to being in Disney!

It really is! The atmosphere of DTD is so different during the day vs. at night. I like it a lot! T-Rex is great! You will definitely have to go there again and get those quesadillas. SO GOOD! I'm sorry your parents aren't huge fans of RFC or T-Rex. That stinks! And no I haven't but that's a really cool website! It's crazy that they own Yak and Yeti, too!

Haha that's coming up next! Stay tuned! :goodvibes

Yeah, POR is beautiful and it's not like we can't just walk right over to FQ and check it out...and of course try the beignets!! We've been obsessed with AKL for years and were supposed to stay there in 2009 before I had to cancel the trip cause of work :headache: So hopefully this time it will work out!!

Yes, that's what I was thinking!! Since there's no way I can actually go to Disney for my birthday I am trying to bring Disney to me in any way I possibly can! I have more ideas... we'll just have to see what works out!

BTW I was looking at Disney tumblrs before and I found this http://adidadisney.tumblr.com/dcpexperience I thought you would be interested in following along with that!! She gives a lot of details. :thumbsup2

Yeah T-Rex Cafe!!! I'm so glad we decided to eat here too! Not gonna lie, that food was amazing! Ya know, I dare say it may even be a little more awesome than Rainforest Cafe.

You got to sit in the Ice Room/Cave!? When we went, we were talking about how 'cool' it must be in there. We even made an excuse to go to the restroom so that we could walk through it.

Thanks for the great review on T-Rex! My mom LOVES RFC, but we have one here in MN (ate there yesterday, in fact!) so I am going to try and convince her to try T-Rex on our next trip. Plus, my son will be 4 when we go, and he loves dinosaurs now!

Can't wait to hear all about your audition!
