The story explaining why we say "sn"! Hee hee hee

I’ve decided to try to write another trip report. I’ve never actually finished one, but since I don’t have a Disney trip planned, I need to do something!

This trip basically started out a few years ago. In 2009, my sister J won free tickets anywhere Air Canada flies in Canada and the US. She decided that since her sister in law H and I babysit her children a lot, she wanted to go on a trip with us and split the cost of the third ticket. She has four children, and had a really hard time leaving them for a long while. We ended up (after much discussion) deciding to go to Florida to shop. We were not going to do a theme park, but we’d stay for three nights at a Disney hotel (Port Orleans French Quarter) and shop at the outlets, at Downtown Disney and in the Disney hotels. Well, we had so much fun in 2009 that H & I decided we wanted to do the Parks together. So this is the trip we took in 2010!

    Cast:
Me: 34, single, teacher, has a huge family as you can see from my signature. (I will apologize and say that my school board doesn’t encourage posting our pictures on the internet, so I’ll not post any pictures of me.) I love to travel, but I haven’t done a whole lot. I was 17 the first time I left PEI, and only then because a friend had to go to Moncton to see a doctor.

H: Let’s just say she’s older than I am! She is single and she’s a nurse, but she’s off as she hurt her hip. She also has a huge family.

J: My OLDER sister, married, four children, stay at home mom, part of the huge family of mine and H’s. Both she and her husband have 9 siblings... She doesn’t travel often, in fact this only her 2nd trip on an airplane.

We call ourselves the Golden Girls (Thank you for being a friend!) and although we alternate which person we are, we basically call H Blanche, J Rose and me Dorothy, so for this, we will be Dorothy, Blanche and Rose, instead of letters.

Here’s a funny picture just so you can get an idea of just how crazy we can be, and my school board can’t really get mad at me!

I’m on the left, Rose is in the middle and Blanche is on the right.

    When?July 25-Aug 5

Where?Blanche & I spent 8 nights at All Star Movies. We got the free QSDP and we loved it. Rose flew down and we met her at the airport and we then moved to the Grand Floridian! That has been my dream resort ever since I saw the Tanners stay there on Full House! I still can’t believe I spent three nights there. We got 40% off the room only rate; Blanche and I got an extra day on our tickets, planned to spend lots of time on Disney property and do Sea World and Universal Studios (both parks). Heading off of Disney property, besides to go to mass and to the outlets last year was a first for me. I had a one day ticket saved and I gave it to Rose so we could do Epcot one day this year.

I’ll try not to talk too much, and make this a very picture oriented TR, but I’ll do some “talking” as I’m a chatterbox! (There will hopefully be less talk and more pictures on my next post...)

Day 1, July 25This is where I sat for the very short, very early morning trip to the airport.

Rose and Blanche live about 20 minutes from town, so they picked me up in Blanche’s car. Rose was not flying out for another 8 days, but she was just as excited as we were to drive us. My DN (15) stayed over the night before because he wanted to see us off too. How many 15 year old boys do you know that get up at 4:30 to go to the airport when they’re not going on the trip?!? Yes, he’s a Disney freak too...

I think it’s worth paying extra to fly out of Charlottetown, mostly because of the convenience. Very short drive to the airport (2 minutes if you hit the green lights) and it’s so small. There is literally only one departure gate-no getting lost!

Yes it’s tiny, no first class section in this little guy, and there are no tvs on the seats, but there are only window and aisle seats, so it’s great in that sense. Blanche had a hip issue and was in a ton of pain. I’m still a little upset with her for not telling me the total truth. She never told me just HOW much pain she was in. Anyways, our flight attendant noticed how uncomfortable she looked and asked her if she was a nervous flyer. Blanche normally loves flying, but this time she was in extreme pain, but didn’t complain once. She told the flight attendant, who got on her knees in order to talk to her face to face, and then gave her tips and suggestions for trying to alleviate the pain while in the air. Incredible, amazing service. She was so great I wrote a comment to Air Canada to make sure they knew how awesome she was.

Our flight left 20 minutes late, and I even took a picture of my watch to show it!

Here's a few pictures of beautiful PEI from the air. Regis and Kelly filmed about 4 episodes here last summer, some of you may have seen it. (Can you tell I love my Island?)

So here is what happened in Montreal. I had the dreaded SSSS on my boarding pass! I didn’t know what it was, nor had I even noticed until I was pulled from the regular security line. YUCKY! Thank goodness the line was short, but it took at least 20 minutes to get through. I had to go through the normal scanner, then she used the wand and had to pat down at a few spots (just my barrette in my hair and my clasp on my bra – in the back, thanks), then I had the choice of a full body pat down or the x-ray machine. I took the machine because it would be faster. Then they went through my entire carryon luggage. Thank goodness you no longer pick up your checked bag going through Montreal. It just goes straight to the final destination. He took his jolly time going through my things; he was friendly, but slow. And I didn’t have much time. I started dancing around and looking at my watch quite regularly, but he kept going really slowly. When he was FINALLY finished, I found Blanche and she said not to get my hopes up.

The line to go through customs was incredibly long. It was about 15 minutes before our flight was scheduled to leave for MCO. I got in line and kept looking for someone to ask. The gentleman ahead of us told me to go talk to someone and pointed her out to me, and to have Blanche stay in the line with our bags. I did and she started asking me why I was so late getting to the airport. When she realized I was on a connecting flight, she patted my arm and said “oh, you’re not late dear.” LOL Then she told me to get my friend and to head over to a special line, after getting our flight information. We actually went through the line for crew. They ended up holding the plane, because when I got close enough, the guy near the gate told me to slow down because he didn’t want me to get hurt. He said it was okay. We got on the plane and the shut the door on our behinds! We were quite relieved.
Our pilot must have been speeding, because we landed on time. By 12:30 we were wandering through MCO.

Ok, so I promised not to babble! The flight to Orlando was fine; Blanche got some sleep, while I got more and more excited!

That's enough for today, since I had to wait so long for these pictures to upload to the website host or whatever it's called without naming names. You know the one, it's being really difficult lately since they made some changes? :rotfl:

I know where Saulte St. Marie Canada is, and Toronto, but I am ashamed to admit my geography is horrible concerning Canada. But I am determined to learn. Me and my dh took our first, or I should say, my first time-we finally visited Canada. We were in Ontario, we took a train ride, we did some fly fishing, and whe went to Niagra Falls. I kept telling my dh, "this is just like the movie in Canada at WDW.

    Enjoying your TR.

Um, where is Montreal?:rotfl: I'm thinking it is North of New York.

Welcome! I remember how excited I was the first time I went to the US, I hope you were excited to see parts of Canada too. Only my first trip into the US we were driving to Toronto, but we made a trip out of it and shopped in all the States we drove through. We spent at least 2 nights in Maine, camping and then it rained so much that we spent the last 2 nights in hotels. I think we drove through Maine, Vermont, NH, and NY. I loved it. I wanted to keep on driving down to Disney World though!

Montreal is basically due north of NYC. Good job! PEI (where I live) is north east of Maine. You'd have to drive through NB and then take the Confederation Bridge here. Ask any questions you want about Canada and I'll see what I can do to find the answers! I can't say I know everything there is to know about Canada, but I am fairly average as far as geography goes.

When I left off, we had just landed in Orlando after barely making the flight.

Our first Disney sign, still in MCO.

Before we knew it, we were getting on this:

    Then going under this:

We stopped here before getting to our hotel:

    It’s 1:26 and we’re home!

By 1:47 we were all checked in and in our room! I love when my room is ready. We were in the Dalmatians section, with a courtyard view.... well, a tree view! LOL

    Looking right

    and left

We then went down to get some lunch. We were hungry!

I'm not sure how many times we ended up getting those chicken nuggets, but we really liked them. And I love that marble cheesecake too. Yummy!

(I’m not putting the times anymore for you, I’m sure that’s boring! I think they are just a little off as well, because I had 2 cameras, and sometimes they are PEI time and sometimes Florida time.)

    In the food court

I did better with the less talking today! Maybe tomorrow I'll have more time to post the rest of the day.

We had decided that we wanted to go to Hollywood Studios because I really wanted to see Fantasmic! It’s the first night time show that I saw at WDW and to me it is special to me for that reason. I cry every time.

I had planned to stop and actually watch more of the Streetmosphere cast, and I did a little bit, but not too long. I was too excited to stop and watch, so I just snapped pictures. These guys were all so funny.

These next two were competing for pictures!

We decided to start with the Backlot Tour. I think we just wanted to see anything to feel like we were totally at Disney. We must have totally missed the entrance because we were first in line. The CM asked if we wanted to be in the little show and Blanche was all "No thanks." I can't remember what I said, but I said that I did want to go, and the CM took me inside to get ready. Boy those wet suits are really hot!

I realized I’m not an actress; I spent most of the time laughing. The other ones on there were great though. They really knew what they were doing.

I like the look on this one:

I think it looks really crowded in this one:

    I love Enchanted.

    No Toy Story tonight!!!

Up next: Some headliners and who didn't eat all their veggies?

Since there were no fastpasses left for Toy Story, we decided to check on the lines at ToT and RnRC. They were too long for a ride at that point, and the single riders line at RnRC wasn't open. We wandered the shops before going to check in at 50s Prime Time Cafe. Neither Blanche nor I had ever eaten there and we were really looking forward to it. Blanche had no idea about the way the restaurant CMs would act, she just knew that it was decorated and themed in a 50s look. I deliberately didn't let her know anything more!

Oh, the best meal! I loved the chicken! In fact, I think I still dream about the chicken.

Blanche liked the meatloaf, but will probably get the chicken if we can go back. And split it! It was so much food.

Blanche didn’t finish her veggies and got teased by Mandy a little bit. I knew what might happen, so I ate my veggies before much of the chicken and potatoes. When we asked if we could split another time, Mandy said that would work well, because then Blanche would only have to eat ½ her veggies, or rather, I’d eat them all! LOL I really wanted her to at least threaten Blanche... Oh well. It was very fun because we joked around with Mandy as well. Blanche ordered a water and a diet pop (soda for all my American friends!) and Mandy asked if she had plastic sheets for her bed. Blanche told Mandy I was "tattling", which is against the rules, when I told the waitress that she was probably just going to get dessert somewhere else once we left. Mandy said that I was being sneaky, but it wasn't tattling, I was just stating what would probably happen!

Blanche even accused me of putting my veggies on her plate! :scared1: I couldn't believe it! But then again, it was a great idea. I might do that next time.... :rolleyes1

We loved the restaurant and the food was delish, we will be back! One day... if ever we go back at the same time. We might be back separately!

I'm going to go now and hopefully I'll get the next installment up tomorrow. I need to upload all my pictures from Fantasmic. I took a ton, but I have about 30 or so that I'll post here. Don't want to bore you too much!

So when I wrote my title, the lies I was referring to were not supposed to be mine! I guess I lied in my last instalment though, because the 30 pictures I’ve chosen for this segment are not all Fantasmic shots. I did take a few hundred shots though, and a few little videos.

After supper, we rode RNR through the single riders line and then ToT (or the other way around). We met this couple in line for ToT and he kept telling her that she would be fine. She didn’t sound convinced, so Blanche and I tried to help. Eventually, she left the line, refusing to ride. He kept talking to us, and it turns out that he had never ridden the ride and was nervous himself. He chatted the whole way with us, and when it came time to split off, he started to go one way while we started the other way, and he said “Oh, you’re going that way? I’ll go that way, too!” When we got to the ride, Blanche and I both said “3” when they asked how many guests. We thought that was so funny. I think the man ended up grabbing Blanche’s hand by accident a few times. It was quite a comical situation.

I love the bathroom signs near RnR! We ended up getting snacks near RnR too. I got an ice cream cone and Blanche got a smoothie. She really enjoyed how we didn’t have to pay for them. Gotta love free dining!

After we rode the 2 headliners in the area, we got in line for Fantasmic! We met a few people from different parts of the US. They said they’d get mad at me if they didn’t like the show, because I had told them it was worth the wait. I was glad we got separated from them when we found a seat. I realized just how tired Blanche was when I asked her to say hi when I was recording a little video on my camera, and she said “hi” to me instead of to Rose!

This is the crowd in the long regular line for RNRC. We were in a slow enough line, but the regular wait time was somewhere between 60 and 90 minutes, I can't remember.

WARNING: Do not jump from the single riders line into the regular line. They are very strict about that (and so they should be.) There were some girls about 20 people behind us in the single rider line, and they jumped from the single rider line in behind the regular line, then were escorted out of the attraction.

This is the same picture as earlier, but later in the evening..

Ok, so I guess I need to post Fantasmic pictures in another post because I had 27 pictures and you're only allowed 25. oops....

We had an early morning ADR for Crystal Palace, so we wanted to be up and ready to go early. I believe the ADR was for 8:25. I love getting into MK when it is basically empty, and Blanche had never been to a character meal before, so this was something new for her.

I took a few pictures on our way to the bus stop.

You can see part of one of the tour groups in this one. They were everywhere, but they really were not rude or overly loud. They didn’t seem to make a big difference in wait times as far as I could tell either. One night we could hear people yelling, but other than that, they didn’t bother us at the resort or in the parks.

I wish I’d gotten the whole Magic Kingdom sign in this one...

    Our MK bus is coming!!

We're on the bus. I can’t decide if I like the balloons or not.

We’re here! I get so excited each time I enter ANY park... They are all so special for me.

We were happy to see the Grand Floridian, still in denial that we’d be sleeping there in about 7 nights!

Let me know if you get tired of the Castle shots... or if you want more. I tend to take a lot. Probably to make up for my first trip, with my film camera, when I only took ONE picture and it didn't really turn out well!

Did I not upload any of the outside of Crystal Palace? Or did I not take any this time? Wow! I guess if I find some I'll post them later.

Here is my food... I love the little Mickey waffles, but my favorite was whatever that French Toast was.... SOOOO good!!! I found it odd that I didn't like the chocolate Mickey waffles as much as the original, and I'm a chocolate lover.

Here’s Pooh Bear hugging Blanche.... I love this one! I don't think she'll mind if I post this picture.

That's what I think too, but my family disagrees.

Thanks! We definitely have fun talking to other people in line, not sure what the other people think. We have a few funny stories coming up.

Thanks! That was one of my goals for pictures this trip, to take shots that make me feel like I'm there.

When I left off, we were just finishing up our wonderful meal at Crystal Palace. The food was good, the characters were fun, but the price was a little steep. It was worth it though. We loved it!

We headed straight for Space Mountain after breakfast. Blanche thought that maybe she could do the thrill rides, that maybe her hip was hurting more because of the flight the day before, not the rides, so this was our test ride.

After SM, Blanche realized that the thrill rides hurt her hip. It was not good because she loves the rides as much as I do. This was when she came to terms with the fact that the trip was NOT going to be what we had planned. I still didn’t have a clue just how much pain she was in, but the plan was that if it wasn't a thrill ride, or a ride with too much jerking, she would go on it. If it was a ride we were not sure of, or we had never been on, we'd stop and ask about the intensity.

We then went to Buzz, but unfortunately, I didn’t get any good pictures. I bet Blanche though, 13,300 points and 95,300. Let’s just say she is not as competitive as I am. Maybe if we go together again, she’ll feel more like competing.

We looked at some of the construction signs around.

And headed for Winnie the Pooh

Look who we saw walking through the park... and I don’t mean the ladies in the black skirts!

    I love Disney signs,

We made it to Snow White’s Scary Adventure

And then got a snack. It wasn’t quite 11 am, but we were warm and Blanche needed to rest for a minute. She got an incredible Fudge Brownie Sundae that was big enough for the 2 of us, but I only had a bite because I got a chocolate shake. We stopped at Mrs. Pott’s Cupboard.
