We are thinking of coming down Dec 28th - Jan 8th. We were there that time last year & stayed at WL. There was only 1 day the boys could get in the pool because of it being too cool even with the pool heated.

If we stay in a pool home & pay for the heat would it be enough to be able to swim more? Some have a southward facing pool & get more sun so that may help too.

Anyone done this before? I've never been when I needed pool heat so I wasnt sure how much it actually heated up the water.

    Thanks!

Oh Yes most definitely -even a south facing pool will need extra help in Jan .If the owner has provided a cover make sure you use that too as it will help keep in the heat over night.

Jannyans is absolutely correct! We just spent our first winter living in FL. Heating the pool was necessary if we wanted to swim. We kept it at halfway pretty much all winter and the pool was 90ish. We also had a solar cover and without that, I would say that you are wasting your money on pool heat. You would lose it all to the cool air. My DD8 thought that there was nothing better than swimming in the winter--all winter!! Enjoy!

Do you think that we need to heat the pool the second week in May? The kids love to swim and I am afraid it may be to cold. Then again what do I know we live in NJ and we only have 1 1/2 months of pool weather a year. LOL

Can't say I disagree with this thinking ! Wish this was possible where I live....I'm lucky to get a good 3 months out of the entire year to be able to swim...... :rotfl: We got a new pool 2 years ago. We were toying with the idea of getting an in-ground, but we'd never get enough use out of it. You guys in the south are so lucky ! I'd pay for heated water in Jan----but Merriwind makes a good point about the solar cover.
    Have a nice trip !
