    Pam and Lisa, thanks for your encouraging comments over in the old thread!! Am feeling better now - my sister told me to drink lots of tea with honey and that seemed to have done the trick! Still can feel the infection, but feeling lots better.

    Had a very active day. Finished putting together the Ikea furniture, cleaned out all the papers on my desk, cleaned the balcony furniture to prep it for the move. I also took it inside as it is going to rain the next few days and I think it will be easier for the moving company to carry the stuff (down from my 5th floor apartment which does not have an elevator!!) if it is dripping wet! I feel like I have been running around all day. Now some vegetables are being roasted in the oven which I intend to eat with some cold meat. And then I might take a hot bath!

    I am happy to see so many people signing up! Let's hove that we all have a great November!!

    I hope we get a chance to see you all! :)

    What an exciting month! And I think a 50th bday definitely needs some cake!

    Oh my gosh! Hope you are feeling better!

    I am trying not to be too frustrated with myself. I started off October high because we'd just gotten back from a weekend in SC. I finished down in October but still higher than I was in September. I am up 8 pounds for the year. And I just can't get my head in the game and I am feeling very frustrated and afraid that the scale is going to keep creeping up. I feel like since I gave up gluten in 2011 I just can't get a handle on things. I am up 25 pounds since giving up gluten....Anyhow. sorry to be a downer. I am not giving up, just feeling very beaten down and don't know where to start. Everything that I did the first time won't work this time, or at least not as well. I can't eat a lot of the same foods. I can't use my strategies for treats cause eating out doesn't work. And I just don't know if I have the energy to reinvent the wheel. Anyhow, going to think about it some this weekend and try to put a plan together.:) Thanks for letting me be a little frustrated and sad about this. I feel good about being honest about things at least. And I am still down about 27 pounds from my original weight in 2010. So all is not lost yet.:goodvibes

    So sorry that you have to fight so much!! Have you ever considered to talk to a nutritionist to get some professional help with how to eat without gluten but so that it does still help with your weight loss? I just got this idea from when you said that you don't have the energy to reinvent the wheel - maybe someone who does this professionally would already have all the alternative knowledge on how to build the wheel - so to speak!

    Just to let you know, I've done races where my bib number was in the thousands & there was only a couple hundred ppl. Sometimes they just pull numbers for a race & they don't start at 00001. 12,000 is A LOT of runners, if there is that many!!!

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I'm in for November! Thanks for hosting :) I started the month off right with my eating, but I didn't get any exercise yet. I woke up at 3:00 am with a terrible headache and I didn't get back to sleep until after 4:30 am. My alarm goes off at 6:00 and my head is still achy feeling. I may just rest tonight.
    No soccer games tomorrow means I may go for a run in the morning :) Then we are going shopping for indoor soccer shoes for both boys. We are probably going to hit up Sam's Club while we are out, so I need to make a list.
    It feels good to start a new challenge month! I'd be happy to coach Nov 26-30 :) I'll be back to check in tomorrow. Have a great night. Jill
    NO EXCUSE NOV - I needed to hear that :thumbsup2 Admitting that I am slipping into the pre-vacation thinking mode - still 2 weeks away - NO caving yet - still time to stay on target!
    I did take today off, gone from the house most of the day, no way to get in my goal steps but I will be journaling my food to keep that string of days intact.
    my weight goal will be just to maintain - I'm allowing for a weight gain on the cruise - with a few days to get it off and be at my starting number for the month - makes sense to me :cool1:
    step goal will again be 8k per day with the days I attend a class at the Y 5k - it was a bit hard to get the 8k on some of those days & my 45 min class does get me some calories burned- 1 free day per week :flower3:
    Food journaling will be EVERDAY except for vacation days!
    off to PM that I'm in and then to journal what I munched today!
    WISHing everyone a great Nov with NO EXCUSES - we are here to support one another - let's do it!!!
    thank you hostess & coaches - you make this possible :flower3:
    I'm in! Gotta keep some kind of momentum going into the holidays...October was not the best for me - I definitely slid hard toward the end of the month! Picking myself up and starting again. :)
    Woohooooo! I hope I can see you & Rose somehow! I think the only meet we know for sure we're going to right now is the one for the Mickey Miles podcast (11am Saturday at Sea Breeze Point on the Boardwalk).
    I have been SO STRESSED lately - work, my sister's terrible situation - I am looking forward to our F&W trip so much! I badly need that break...
    Happy November, everyone! Here's to a great month for all of us!
    XO
    Morning all and greetings from Orlando and Minecon 2013! It's like a giant nerd convention! :rotfl2:
    I had a "no excuses November" breakfast! Egg white omelet with onions peppers, and mushrooms, a bit of potato (not deep fried ;) ) and a big serving of fruit, plus coffee with nonfat milk. I did taste the grits ( I usually like them) but only had a taste (about 3 Tb.). I avoided the pastries, belgian waffles, bacon, sausage, , sausage gravy & biscuits. It really wasn't too hard...because I just kept thinking "save your calories for Butterbeer"!:cool1:
    I have a WW cheese stick and a Fiberone 90 calorie snack in my bag for later, but I did forget my collapsible water bottle at home. So I'll have to pay for my first bottle at least. Got my walk in today already with a looooooong trek from the parking lot to the actual registration table! I see plenty of steps ahead!
    Hope you all started November off with a bang (and a salad and a walk ;) )! I'll BBL to chat! ...........P
    Oh Rose. I'm so sorry that you are struggling. I have had similar moments of doubting that I can do "this" for the rest of my life...and I don 't have your issues with gluten, etc. I agree that you need to find some help with this. I'll see if there are any WW resources that deal with eating GF. Meanwhile you should look into talking with a holistic nutritionist or a Naturopath maybe. I know that YOU know it isn 't all about just the number on the scale, but also about a sustainable enjoyable lifestyle and overall health... And if you are struggling in those two areas, then you need help. We love you (well, at least I do :love: ) and i'm so glad you are still here with us, so at least you are still headed in the right direction. I'll send you a PM later when I am NOT sitting on the floor of a convention center surrounded by geeks.:lmao:
    So glad you are here! Miss you! ........P
    Since we don't have a coach yet for the first part of the challenge I'll post a QOTD for this week-end.
    QOTD Saturday, November 2 and Sunday, November 3, 2013: Please do a quick intro and share what your plan is to meet your goal for November.
    I am Lisa and I absolutely love the WISH boards -- where else can you match a great love of all things Disney with a desire for a healthy and active lifestyle? :smickey: I've had a good year but I am determined to finish it with a bang and a new decade. I will stick with my WW and be better about not eating those APs and weeklies and will be ramping up my Princess training as best I can while I finish recovering from an injury. princess: I'm better but still have a ways to go before full recovery. :sad2:
    :welcome: This is a great place! Thanks for joining us.
    Thanks! Hugs to you, too, Cam! :hug:
    Here's to a great November for all of us! ::yes::
    So true! :thumbsup2
    I think you've got a lucky number there, Helen, no matter how many racers there are. You will do great! :yay:
    Glad that you are feeling better! :flower3:
    Ouch! Hope you are feeling better now, too. :flower3:
    Hang in there, Rose. :hug: I like Liz's idea about a nutritionist. Hopefully there is a local person who would know not only what to do but where you can go that is local where they do the gluten free thing right. You are strong. You are determined. You aren't giving up. And you're going to Disney World! :yay: I have faith in you! pixiedust:
    Great plan, Molli! :thumbsup2 We're always glad to see you when you are here.
    Oh, and Candy Crush, I've given up on that at level 70. But not Zuma, of course. :lmao:
    BRB due to smilie police. ;)
    Thank you Magdalene and Pamela. :)
    Hi I'm Rose. :goodvibes I am 46, mom to a 22yo, married forever, g-f and a runner. I have struggled with weight my entire life. I remember being told how big I was and then sneaking into the sugar bowl and just eating sugar to make myself feel better when I was in elementary school. And the worst part--I was pretty normal sized at the time. I lost ~50 pounds in 2010. Went completely g-f in 2011 and have put about 25 back on. I am just outside of a healthy bmi, and a little frustrated that I have put so much back on. In the big scheme of things, I still look pretty good, but I know I feel better when I am carrying at least 10 less pounds. At this point it truly is about health. Oh and did I mention I haven't had a real t.o.m since last October...can't officially say I have hit menopause, but I am close. I don't think that is helping matters here lately.:rotfl:
    My plan--is to plan. Every stinking meal when we are not traveling. And to have at least a written plan of action for the rest of the traveling time. We have 3 short trips planned this month, so I know if I do not pay attention I will be in trouble. I think that if I can have one good month, I will be on the right track again. Mike and I had a conversation last night (while walking 4 miles) about why we stopped sharing meals out and why we were doing things so differently, anyhow, the point being I have gotten into a lot of really bad habits because I have been comforting myself with food again.
    Food is fuel. And it absolutely should taste good. And I believe even in some cases "feed" our souls. But it is not our friend. It cannot make us feel better. and it cannot fix things. It is fuel. I need to remind myself of that this month.
    Welcome to everyone. :)
    Man, no soccer games but still a big soccer week-end for you, Jill. ;) Hope you are feeling better today. If not, rest. :flower3:
    :woohoo: Your cruise will be here before you know it! Great plan to stay the course until you step on the ship! ::yes::
    You can do it! :yay:
    Hang in there, Liz! :hug: You're going to have a blast at the F&W and a great race. :cool2:
    LOL! Sounds like a good time, Pamela. :cool2: I'm always amazed at all the wonderful worlds that people have taken the time to create in Minecraft. It's amazing! Hope your DS is having a blast. Is Notch there?
    Have a great week-end all! :goodvibes
    Hi all, I'm Amanda. I'm 38, single, no kids, gluten-free. I've been overweight since college, and I was never skinny - I hit puberty young, and I always seemed to have a little 'cushion' on me. I definitely use food for comfort and for things other than fuel. I relate a lot with what Rose has already written.
    I lost 25 pounds in 2009, gradually gained it back, then lost 25 pounds last year, and gained 20 pounds back. Since May this year, I've lost 18 pounds, 10 of those last month. The thing that kicked me in the butt to really get me motivated again was when I was flying to visit my parents for a vacation and to celebrate my birthday with them in September, the seatbelt didn't fit on the plane. :( It was awful, the first time (and hopefully the last) that I've had to ask for a seatbelt extender. So I started logging all my food, tracking my calories. I'm insulin resistant, so I got serious about it and cut out starchy veggies like potatoes and corn, along with a lot of other sugars. I increased my workouts. I use SparkPeople and really like the tools on there, plus being motivated by other Sparkers. And now I'm very excited to have discovered WISH and all you wonderful WISHers! :goodvibes
    My goal this month is to lose 7 pounds, that will put me at a 25-pound loss again for this year. I want to lose it by Thanksgiving, since I'm flying on Thanksgiving morning to Los Angeles to spend a week with my brother. And we're going to Disneyland, my first time! :banana: I don't want to worry about any seatbelts not fitting or about me being uncomfortable on any rides. I'll keep logging in all my food, stick to the dietary changes I've made, and keep exercising 5-6 days a week.
    Speaking of which, I'd better get outside while it's still nice out and get my power walk through Central Park in today! I'm avoiding the area tomorrow because it will be crazy with the NYC Marathon.
    Lisa--glad the injury is improving. :)
    Thank you Pamela and Lisa. :grouphug: I just truly needed to be honest, come clean and admit how far I have fallen. If I don't get a handle on this quickly I will be buying a whole new wardrobe yet again....I just haven't yet learned to eat without "bread" products. G-f breads (baked goods) just truly aren't worth the calories and are usually not even that good for you. The calories are killing me. The g-f beer I drink has 160 calories a bottle.:eek: I can't keep doing the same thing over and over and expect positive results.
    So I planned our dinners (and hopefully leftovers for lunch) through the 24th. Feeling pretty positive about it. We are having roasted butternut squash with figs and goat cheese for dinner. :) I still need a plan for breakfast and snacks. Might just stick with fruit for snacks. Need to think a little more about breakfast.
    And I bought a 32 ounce bottle for drinking water. I am 2/3 of the way through my first bottle. I feel like I am drowning.:lmao: On average most days I have been drinking a couple of cups of black coffee, maybe two glasses of water and a beer or martini....might explain some of my issues.:rolleyes: My goal is to get up to 2 containers of water a day, but that might take a while.
    I hope everyone is having a good Saturday. We are watching football and then we are going to walk a mile and maybe ride bikes. Saved our run for tomorrow.
    Hi everyone, I'm Helen. married for 20 years this year, no kids but 1 mad cat!!
    I started my weight loss journey on 7th January 2013, and wanted target by my 50th birthday in 2 weeks time...well it ain't gonna happen, but I'm still pretty proud of the 73lb I have lost so far!!!! 12lb to go. The target date has now been moved to Christmas!
    I have discovered in the last 4 months that I enjoy running. Started out walking most of the 5K event which is held in our local park every Saturday morning (http://www.parkrun.org.uk/hull/) but now have a personal best of 33:34 and can get around the course with only 4 x 30 second walk-breaks . I also run an additional 5K at least twice a week on the treadmill at the gym. In 2 weeks I will be running in my first ever 10K for my 50th birthday.
    I have no laptop of my own at the moment, so I am bringing my work one home at the weekends so that I can log on and catch up with you all. (Work would not be happy if I logged on over their wifi, but I can do so at home)
    My weight loss has kinda stalled recently, since I upped the running in preparation for the 10K. I have decided to take this weekend off healthy eating altogether and get straight back on it on Monday (been to Burger King for lunch today). In the past this has given my weight loss a kick start, so fingers crossed. ToM is due this week too, so I feel like a water filled balloon anyway!
    Tomorrow is my mum's 70th birthday and there are 14 of us going out for a 3 course lunch. I have also got her a 'chocolate overload' cake - it's a chocolate marble cake, covered in chocolate buttercream and then coated in Cadbury chocolate fingers, giant chocolate buttons, Rolos and Maltesers. I will definitely be having a piece!!
