A different thread here on the DIS got me to thinking. (Always dangerous)

Some people try to do "Beer around the World" in which they have a beer in each of the countries of World Showcase. It might be fun to try "Wine around the World" instead. But as I think of it, I'm not sure that you can get wine (preferably "to go") in each of the countries. I know you can get Wine (at least a tasting) in Germany, Italy, Japan (Saki) & France. What about the other countries?

They might sell an "ice wine" somewhere in Canada, but I'm not sure. Other than that, I don't recall there being wines available in any other countries other than those you have listed. Even if there were, I'm not sure I want to try Mexican, Norweigan, Chinese, Morroccan or English wine anyway (I know they are making wine everywhere in the world these days, but I have never heard of any great wines from any of those countries).

Norway has wine but it's American wine (just like the beer now).

You can get "to go" wine at Germany. And there's a better selection inside France than at their kiosk.

Madalex, good point about the wines from those other countries. :goodvibes

Sounds like Wine Around the World will be no problem - except maybe for getting thirsty in between the countries that have wine.

I've had wine from just about any country that had it - China does/did have a plum wine at their CS you can try. think they have it at the JOy of Tea stand now.

Tangierine Cafe has a morrocan wine, but I have not tried it.

We've done a "Drink the World" where we just drank whatever alcoholic beverage we thought we'd like at each country. So we drank beer, wine, margaritas, cider...it all tasted good!

That sounds like a plan! For us, DH will have the beer, and my sister and I will have the wine and any other drinks that sound good....We're thinking sharing though might be a good option...or do they have any sample/tasting sizes?

The plum wine is still there. However - I caution you. Get an egg roll to go along with it. It tastes like crap without food.

The Tea Stand is good too. I didn't think I'd like their frozen teas with alcohol but it was surprising good and refreshing.

I got an eggroll and still thought it tasted like crap  But didn't stop me from drinking it all!

I thought the peach tea schnapps slush was about the best drink at Epcot (found at Joy of Tea). So good that I promised my sister I would share with her and one taste changed that arrangement fast - she had to go buy her own ;)

There is a sake tasting bar in the far back corner of the store.

Moroccan wine is quite good! And we had the one at the Cafe in The World, and it was fine.

Some of the lands carry local wines, and not ones from their countries.

Plum wine is yummy, but can be an acquired taste,as it is sweeter and thicker. I agree that it tastes yummier with something salty with it. I love the potstickers with it. :)

Hubby and I also "drink whatever around the world". It's more fun to try whatever sounds good at the time and place than to try and restrict yourself. WDW doesn't exactly offer the Best of the Best of each country's particular offerings and brands, so don't dismiss all wines/beers/whatever from X or Y country just because you didn't like the one offered at WDW. Keep an open mind and be adventurous with your palate!

We've never tried plum wine, & the posts on here have peaked my interest. We love ice wine, which is very sweet. Is plum wine similar or is it more like a port? TIA :)

Agree completely; I always wonder about people who have every food item they want scheduled out for their trip instead of going with what looks good to them when they get there. The few times I have bought something just because the Dis told me to, I was sorely disappointed (like schoolbread) and wished I had bought what actually looked appealing at the time.

It's much easier to just eat/drink whatever looks tasty at the time. Even if that is just a funnel cake in the American Pavillion (and yes, I've actually passed up a treat from the Norway bakery in order to have one because it sounded tasty at the time!).

I know that I have had ice wine, but I honestly can't remember what it was like! Sorry I can't help there!

Stop by the store at the Italian Pavilion for a glass of Rosa Regale, a sweet, sparkling wine.

Ice wine (Canada) is a very sweet, dessert wine.
