I wonder if the Late Show with David Letterman will air Obama’s swearing in screw up errr I mean nervous mistake on the 'Great Moments in Presidential Speeches' segment tonight.

You know the segment where Letterman show’s clips of famous speeches by past presidents like JFK and Roosevelt and then a clip of Bush making a “flub”.

Hmmm maybe Bush was just nervous when he made his flubs.

On a side note I was shocked last week when Jay Leno on the Tonight Show stage actually told an Obama joke. But alas it was about his mother-in-law living with him in the WH.

Then on the same night David Letterman took a shot at an Obama joke but somehow the punch line involved “old man McCain”.

When will the BO honeymoon/love affair be over on late night talk shows?

I sure hope so! It's only fair. Of course I doubt that it will happen, but here's to wishful thinking. :goodvibes

OK, I hope Letterman keeps that segment. I am sure he will have plenty of Obama "flubs" in the next four years.

I am a GB supporter, and I loved that segment. I laughed at every one of them!:rotfl2:

Check the facts it was actually the Supreme Court Justices mistakes- he's the flubber.

But hey I'm sure they'll be mistakes in the future(there is Biden afterall) Said by an Obama supporter.

I too like Bush and thought that segment was hilarious. I'll miss his silly mess ups.

Me too. If my son’s aren’t asleep I call them in to watch the segment. We die laughing together.

A classic is when they have JFK’s “ask not” speech, then FDR’s “fear itself” speech, and then President Bush saying “the right hand didn’t know what the left hand was doing” as he raises the wrong hands. ;)

He could extend it to all the politicians if that becomes necessary. I'm sure Pelosi has one or two she can help out with. ;)

Letterman said last week that they were retiring the segment and even had a "best of". (which had the left hand/right hand thing - I had never seen that before and I woke my husband up laughing)

I hope they keep that segment, it was hilarious! (and I'm an Obama supporter)

Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert have been having a lot of fun with him, especially the crazy 'messiah' stuff.

I remember one joke not getting a great response and Stewart telling the audience "It's OK to laugh at him."

The segment didn't start until years and hundreds of gaffes made it inevitable. If Obama builds up as impressive a resume, we'll see it back. But don't worry, there will be plenty of other segments aimed straight at BO, but only after he earns it. And he will.

There was no "flub" by Obama. The guy giving the oath actually made the flub and Obama tried to bring it to his attention without out and out correcting him. That's not to say he'll never flub, but there was none today.

Yup Obama got 'thrown off' because the Judge made the mistake!

What are Leno, Letterman, John Stewart, Bill Maher, and the rest going to do now. You won't be allowed to make fun of Obama, Will these guys be giving up soon

I think the flub they are referring to is that President Obama said he was the 44th American to be sworn in when in fact he is the 43rd as Cleveland had two different terms.

I would never have noticed, Charles Gibson pointed it out.

I hope so...I love a great joke as much as the next guy. :teeth:

did you see that? He only had 35 words to get right and he said it wrong -- so Obama didn't know if he was suppose to repeat it wrong or repeat it as it was said to him:confused3
