I'm considering doing this when I go in September of 2015. Has anybody done it and if so, is it worth the price?
Thanks!

I did it a couple weeks ago and it was absolutely worth the price. I loved it. Both of our guides were fantastic - full of knowledge and stories and really enthusiastic about everything. Standing over the hippos was amazing. The safari tour was really cool too because we could stop for however long we wanted near each animal and they took pictures of us with the animals. The food was great too. I highly recommend it.

I LOVED doing the wild Africa trek. I did this with my older son a few years ago. I highly recommend it. And the lunch is delicious.

Did this in October 2013 - loved it - going to book again for August this year. You won't be disappointed.

Absolutely one the best experiences we have ever had at WDW.

Would do it again in a heartbeat.

I had completely forgotten about this and now am considering it as well. How far ahead does booking for tours open up?

We (DH & I) did it in Dec 2013 and loved it. Food was good. I'm allergic to seafood so they modified the meal for me. They took lots of great pictures while walking over the bridges over the hippos and alligators (great picture of DH taking a picture of the animals on the bridge). Lots of time spent on the little cliffs above the alligators and hippos with lots of information from the staff. We stopped several times once we were in the truck closer to the animals than you normally get on the Kilimanjaro Safari and they will spend a good quantity of time there so that you can get some great photos. Then lunch is in a building in the middle of the savannah and you can sit and get a great view of the whole area. We'd definitely do it again. I don't know why it never occurred to us to do it years ago.

I'm looking at this for my Sept trip also. Last year they had a $50 discount if you did an afternoon time, trying to balance the discount vs the afternoon heat and thunderstorm possibilities.

I can't wait to do this! I don't know what I'll do for a camera though, I usually just use my phone. Maybe I will buy a new camera, lol. I only have my phone or my big SLR, and I really don't want to lug that down on my trip to use just one day.

We did this last September and loved it. Just as a heads up- you can't take anything with you that does not have a lanyard, including your phone. Lockers are provided for all of your gear. The guides take lots of pictures. This would be especially great for kids - we had several on our trek and they loved it.

Yes, the lanyard thing is why I knew my phone wasn't an option. Though I am wondering if there are cases with lanyards...surely there are....regardless, I am not too worried about taking pictures of animals, just want photos of my family, so I'm sure the guides photos will be fine for that.

Just curious if anyone would be willing to share their pictures? I'm interested in doing this too, but I'm wondering how close and such you get? I'd like to book this for my husband, but don't want him to be disappointed. I know Disney isn't going to let you touch the animals, but do you just view from a distance like you do on the safari?

DS & DD did it last September with the $50 off and had a great time. No weather issues, lots of animals out and active. My other DS and I actually scheduled our Safari FP+ in hopes to see them and we did, their vehicle was next to a group of giraffes and they were taking their pictures with them. They loved the meal and it included all the photopass photos of them during the whole thing. They took their own camera and Go Pro (he put on his helmet).

It's worth it ONLY if you can get a deal on it. You don't get any closer to the animals than you would at a local zoo. But, it's super fun.

Oh! I have a Go Pro, not sure I have a lanyard for it, but will get one. Thanks!
