My 7th grade son's teacher is perfectly fine with him going on vacation in 16 days, but today she mentioned to him that it would be nice if the class could have some face-time on Skype with him while he is gone. ( he attends a very close-knit charter school) I don't necessarily want to pay for ship-board wifi (although, he thinks it would be cool to skype his classmates while on the Dream!) and I also am wondering if the ship connection would be strong enough for skype. Are there any places in Nassau that have free wifi that we could take the laptop to and skype? This is not a requirement and we could probably just do this on one of our Disney days too.

No accessibility to Skype or FaceTime onboard. I believe I had heard that there is Free Wi-Fi in the "Welcome center" that you have to go thru to get out of the port area in Nassau. I know they have Wi-Fi other places too but I don't know where, anyone??? :santa:

I tried the free wifi in the Festival Place Welcome center at the port in February and it was horrible. Could barely scroll through facebook on my iphone. Skyped my mom on her regular cell phone, not facetime or webcam, and it connecte but was so in and out and dropping, we could not hold a conversation. I gave up after 10 mins and went back to the ship- I sure was glad I warned her ahead of time that the service might be spotty so she wouldnt have to worry if we got disconnected, thinking something bad might have happened!

Here is a Downtown Nassau shopping map. It should gives you a pretty good idea. :)
