Ugh that is AWFUL. Poor little MEG! I was going to try out the one in Western MA too, but I am so glad I didn't. It was really smart to do a " tester" theme park day though. Hopefully this kind of " crappy" experience will make your friends appreciate the DISNEY MAGIC so much more.

Also I miss your Pre Trip Reports and am glad I caught up on this one.

ALSO if I MAY BRAG in your thread I am down 11.5 lbs thanks to YOU. I started low carb because of your success and I am BEYOND THRILLED. In one month 11.5 lbs is amazing for me. I would love to lose like 9 more lbs in the 5 weeks we have to go to Disney but I am just really happy that I am losing at all. THANK YOU for being such an inspiration!!

Wow. I am sorry that the experience was so frustrating. Poor Meg. We make it a game now as to how the other theme parks are lacking behind Disney when we go to non-Disney parks. The employees all seem to react like it was either this or McDonald's and McDonald's wouldn't hire them, so they were stuck doing this. It is sad that Meg had to suffer as a result.

It was a pain in the you know what... YES Mc-Jobs... they need to go and work at a dog park. they would be better qualified for a scooper upper.

When we went to Universal, it got so annoying because on the majority of the rides, they didn't allow any backpacks or purses, even the crossbody type. Always having to put it in their free 45 minute lockers and hoping the line wouldn't take that long or riding the ride in shifts, so someone could be purse watching. Our second day, I went with the water pak thing I had bought for the water parks. Put our tickets and money in and had it under my shirt. That was better but still a hassle.

I read that on Ariana's trip report! i don't know if i can do a ride and leave my camera!!! EEP! scary

I'm sorry.. I wasn't really keeping this too much alive until the November trip was well on it's way.. Which it's not.
Otherwise i would have sent the invite! sorry.

As for resorts, my order of choice of your suggestions would be: Boardwalk (use the quiet pool), Poly, Yacht Club, Beach Club. I was not a fan of the Beach Club at all. And the monorail is NOT all it is hyped up to be lately with the "closed hours" etc.

Poly. and beach club. i think these are my top two... especially for the first timers?!?!

We have not been to Great America since our kids were about 8 and 10. We had some really nasty guests we dealt with on a ride (I won't even go into the language being spewed all over the place) and the customer service was awful.

I am glad that you did learn some things about the family and their traveling style. I would get them to go again with you all...see if it makes a difference second time around. I am starting to be a little concerned about my trip next year, but I have told them that I will be touring by myself if I feel like I need to. I so wish my son could be off and come with us. But it will be his last semester of college, so he will not be able to do so. I have thought about bringing my sister with me again (just her no little ones), as she will tour like I do! (and listen to what I say!)

So sorry you had such a bad experience at Great America It's days like those that remind us just how wonderful a Disney is. I would have been livid. I hope you get a decent response back from them.

Six Flags over Georgia in Atlanta is only about 1.5 hours away from me but i've yet to take my kids (8 & 9) bc i don't want them to be dissapointed. With the height requirements my daughter is too short for the stuff she would want to ride. Food prices were awful for what you get. Its also not the cleanest or happiest place to be. That being said, i havent been there myself in a couple of years so it could be even worse! When coworkers give me crap over planning another trip to Disney i just tell them its 1000x times better than 1 day at six flags and worth it to me.

I am so happy for you!!!!! SERIOUSLY that is AWESOME! you will lose the next 9 with no problem, just stick with it. I would suggest maybe doing a SMALL amount of carbs before you go. get your system used to have a little of it before you go, incase it makes you sick.
Some carbs do make me ill.

I can somewhat understand the water park, becuase I'm sure someone would ride with a cast not protected and then try and sue the park when the cast gets wet and ruined- BUT she had a protector on it. Maybe a "ride at your own risk with a cast" type disclaimer.

There is NO REASON for her not to be able to ride a roller coast. A wrist (finger) cast doesn't even affect mobility like a leg cast would. That is straight bull they wouldn't let her ride, especially after SO MANY employees could have stopped her and didn't. I would almost consider a trip back (especially if you have a season pass) just to check out the warning sides they post and see if "people wearing a cast are not allowed to ride" is posted, if not photograph it, and send it to corporate. This experience alone, plus the rip off with the floats, really should warrant. Refund of your money. That experience sucked, sorry for you guys! But on the bright side, Disney should look even more MAGICAL for your friends!

I have to agree Yet i understand some rides you would have to hold on to something and she would only be able to do that with one arm I would rather be TOLD about this before hand!

GAHHHH I know that Six Flags is definitely not the most cleanest or friendly park, but what you went through is so much worse!!! I'm so sorry it was such an awful day!! And that you got season passes- all I can say is if you are up for a second visit fright fest is usually a LITTLE bit less crowded. We have season passes and have only gone after work twice..for about 2 hours each time haha

I get aggravated going and compare everything to Disney, it's hard not too when things just do not run as smoothly there.

I also can't believe that BS response from them! I wish they would have at least done something for you or at least not just try and BS there way around what really happened.

Anyways- bright side- I'm sure there are many people who have only been to six flags and don't have Disney to compare it too

WOW. What a response. I used to love going to Great America when I was in high school--it was one of our favorite places to go every summer. I think I went there only once more after my first trip to Disney World and it was just SO SUBPAR with regard to wait times, employees, cleanliness, etc. I just never went back again. Yep, it's true, they should change their slogan to, Great America: If you've been to WDW, just don't bother!

GAHHHH I know that Six Flags is definitely not the most cleanest or friendly park, but what you went through is so much worse!!! I'm so sorry it was such an awful day!! And that you got season passes- all I can say is if you are up for a second visit fright fest is usually a LITTLE bit less crowded. We have season passes and have only gone after work twice..for about 2 hours each time haha

I get aggravated going and compare everything to Disney, it's hard not too when things just do not run as smoothly there.

WOW. What a response. I used to love going to Great America when I was in high school--it was one of our favorite places to go every summer. I think I went there only once more after my first trip to Disney World and it was just SO SUBPAR with regard to wait times, employees, cleanliness, etc. I just never went back again. Yep, it's true, they should change their slogan to, Great America: If you've been to WDW, just don't bother!

Poor Meg. We won't go to theme parks other than Disney and maybe universal because of our last experience at. Busch Gardens in Tampa. It was unpleasant.
