Who is your favorite Disney character? *Rumor*

I was just speaking to a friend (DVC member) who's son is going to WDW in April. According to his son, when customizing his Magic Bands, he was asked "Who is your favorite character?"

At first, I thought he was talking about the luggage tags and maybe you could now choose which one you get. However, he said he chose Jiminy Cricket and got a message about a possible surprise when you get to the parks.

I checked my MB customization page (for February stay) and didn't see any options like that. Anyone else experience this or heard anything about it?

Going in December, but that would be awesome! I doubt that it's for MBs though because if they ask an open-ended question for MBs to be customized for any character, they'd have a hard time with that (unless they do something cheap like stickers or charms). It may be because they will give him a complimentary stuffed animal or something. They gave a free Goofy animal with a birthday note to my brother-in-law a few years back.

I have a trip booked for April, and there was no question like that on my MB customization page...test run, perhaps?

I just customized ours over the weekend and there was nothing like that. Perhaps this person was confusing this with choosing an avatar on MDE?

I was also asked who my favorite character was when customizing our bands for our February trip. It was definitely different than choosing my avatar.

I made reservations for my immediate and extended family (12 of us total) back in July for early January. The cast member did ask who my niece's (age 2.5) favorite character is. There are other young children in our group but I think I may have called on a previous day for those reservations. I'm hoping that some pixie dust may be in store for my niece.

Disney, to me, has been trying to add more value for DVC lately. It wouldn't shock me if this was a dvc exclusive thing and new perk they are trying. They also ahve done dvc only meet your favorite character events so it might just be how they are figuring out who to have to invite everyone too that week as a surprise also.

We are DVC members and just customized our magic bands the other day. We did not have any questions asking who are favorite characters are.

If it's a surprise for when you get to the parks...maybe when you scan the MB at the entry point there will be a special sound. In this case a Jiminy Cricket voice. Of course, I don't know how they could possibly be prepared for every single Disney character that someone might answer with.
