were you ever accused of being a Troll?

I never was, I started out on the trip reports and DVC boards. I gradually starting posting on the community board.

I've gotten a couple of PM's lately that I don't think are genuine to the topic at hand. You know that feeling you get?

So, any experiences?

No, but I didn't come over to the Community Board until I had been here quite awhile and I really don't tend to get involved in the big controversial topics. I do read a lot of them. I just don't tend to post on them.

I've never been accused, but I am often ignored. I just said earlier today that on the CB, it seems like post counts = IQ scores, and if you don't have a high post count, then you are not intelligent enough to deal with. At least that has been my experience.

Maybe some people think I'm too "young" for the CB (& I definitely don't mean age-wise ;)), but I've never been easily intimidated, so I feel comfortable posting.

I guess it's natural to be skeptical of the "new guy", but I'll continue to post, and although I'll be ignored a lot, I don't want anyone thinking I'm a troll. There's enough drama going on at my work that I don't need to get on a message board (especially a Disney board) in order to see some trouble.

I will admit to erasing a lot of posts that I've started because I know that I am pretty new here, so I don't want to rock the boat too much.

No, but I didn't find the Community Board for a long time. I was on the Theme Parks board and the Family Board for at least a year or so. I also tend to be a fluff poster rather than a flame poster (although I can flame with the best of them).

Princess, I like your posts...I have a feeling you'll fit right in on the CB...post away :thumbsup2

I joined the DIS in 2000 and didn't get accused of being a troll until a few weeks ago. It only took 7.5 years and 3000+ posts, so at least I'm a devoted troll. Can you say clueless? :rotfl:

I do get ignored, though. The CB can be very cliquish!

I couldn't agree more with this and that is the reason why I often don't post in the CB. Also, I haven't had the time to make my signature box all jazzy and I've noticed that seems to make people think you aren't serious about Disney and don't fit in.

No. I started off on the Theme Parks board and then migrated to the Debate Board. In fact I think the CB was the LAST board I visited.

Me too. It seemed like we never had a problem with trolls on the DB. We argued with them just the same as everyone else. :rotfl:

no, but then back when I joined almost everyone was fairly new.

To me a troll is someone who joins the board just to stir up trouble. They will post something that they know will get a rise out of the members here. So if someone comes on and for the first post ever trashes WDW then I would think troll. But if someone has been around for a while (even with low post counts) and posts something about a bad trip or experience that doesn't make them a troll.

The CB can be very cliquish!

 Say it ain't so!!!

;) j/k

No, I've never been accused of being a troll. It took me awhile to really start posting on the CB though I lurked a lot!

I started out on the Cruise Board, and migrated here after I had been there for quite a while.

I don't tend to say anything to ocontroversial, and I don't start controversial-type threads, so I haven't been accused of being a troll.

I was VERY new to the boards and to the CB. I was posting on a CB Big Brother thread :scared1: and was accused of being a troll. They said I must be one because I had so few posts.

nope. But #1 I am not too extreme and #2 I spent years on the other parts of the DIS before I ventured to the CB. Several years back, I could NOT understand why people would post to a Community Board at all :confused3 Obviously I have figured it out! ;) :surfweb:

Can I ask, what is a Troll?

I just realized that no one answered this.....

A troll is someone who comes on the board with the sole intent of creating controversy or ill will between posters.

Huh? Did you say something? ;) OOOOOOOOOOO SSSSSSSSSSSS UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU! :thumbsup2

I started on Theme Parks also, then went to restaurants and resorts before I ever came here. Spent a LONG time just reading here, and an even LONGER time posting on existing threads before I ever started one. CB is its own world...........

When I first discovered the Dis, I was planning a Disney vacation. I didn't even read the CB until I had been a member for awhile. When I did read, there was no way I was going to start a controversial thread. So no, I have never been called a troll. Yet. ;)

I thought it was just me!

To answer the OP, yes, on my very first post I was accused of being a troll. It was on the wedding board of all places. I was planning my Disney wedding and there was a girl who said she had the same exact time, date and place scheduled for her wedding. I had already had everything planned and paid for so I was a little panicked. I registered (had just lurked before) and posted about how we had the same time/date blah blah and maybe there was a mix up somewhere. I was thinking someone at Disney had told one or both of us the wrong thing.

Well someone lays into me about how it's not nice to troll and upset brides planning their weddings. It's stressful enough to plan a wedding without having someone causing problems, etc. The other girl calls her wedding planner and posts that she had been told the wrong thing and her wedding was actually in the next time slot they had available.

I was happy that the crisis was averted, but I didn't especially like being layed into for trying to get things straightened out.

I couldn't agree more, except more often instead of being ignored, I am treated like I am a jerk or a moron for having a different opinion. Like somehow my opinion is less valid. I seem to get jumped on immediately when I post in a thread, even if I agree witht he topic, it seems like people find one line of my post to take offense to and it becomes an all out assasination of ME!!!

:thumbsup2 Ahhh the good ole days. ;)

Wedding board is scary...almost as scary as DVC boards and resort board. :scared1:
