WHEN & WHAT'S HAPPENING in April 2012 in the LOWCOUNTRY​

April 9 – 15: RBC Heritage, which for 2012 will return to its traditional week in April immediately following the Masters Tournament, has been an important element of South Carolina’s culture and economy since 1969 when debuted at the Pete Dye-designed Harbour Town Golf Links. 2011 Heritage Tournament Winner Brandt Snedeker will be here to defend his title. Sponsored by RBC, Boeing and the Town of Hilton Head Island. It’s Time to “Get on Your Plaid”.

April 1 – 30: Coastal Discovery Museum sponsors Gullah Trail Tours, Tuesday – Sunday. 2 hr tour of 10 neighborhoods that were established during the Civil War. Reservations required. Call: 843-681-7066 or gullaheritage.com.

April 1: The Avid Gardeners of Hilton Head Plantation will present a standard flower show “The Mystical Garden” from 10 a.m.-4p.m. Exhibits will be in three categories. Garden vendors, boutique and café. Free admission. Pass at gate. Call; 843-681-5346.

April 2-6: Gregg Russell Concerts under the Liberty Oak in Harbour Town, Monday-Friday, 7:30-9p.m. Family-oriented singer/storyteller performs sing-a-longs, ballads and silly songs with audience participation. Complimentary. Call: 843-842-1979 or seapines.com

April 3-4: “Symphony Under the Stars” presented by the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra at the Coastal Discovery Museum at Honey Horn. Gate opens at 6 p.m.: concert begins at 7:30 p.m. An evening of opera, classical and popular Broadway music conducted by John Morris Russell. Bring your own picnic. Tickets are $62.50. April 6-8: Easter Bunny Wagon Ride! Friday and Saturday: 3:30-4:30 & 4:45-5:45 p.m. and Sunday, 2-3 p.m. & 3:15-4:15 p.m. Enjoy our spring exploration of The Sea Pines Preserve by wagon. April 6: Tasteful Tuesday at Benny Hudson’s Seafood Market. We begin with Island history. The Island Winery will also be joining us to pair their local wines with our dishes. Free, space is limited so reservations are required. 843-682-3474.

April 7: Easter Extravaganza at the Shelter Cove Park, 10:30-1:30 p.m. The Egg Hunt begins at 11 a.m. sharp, plus blowup rides, music, face painting and more.
