When do resorts typically put up their Christmas decor?

We will be there from November 2-10. We want to take advantage of Food & Wine but also hit MVMCP if possible. This will be our first time during the holiday season and I'm wondering when the resorts typically put up their decorations as we're hoping to do a little resort tour to see the different decorations, if they're up.

I would say, from our experience .... Middle of November (the week before thanksgiving week) ... You might be a week too early

The parks start right after the last Halloween parade.

Resorts start a bit later and are not guaranteed to be completed by the Saturday after Thanksgiving, which is the day I normally arrive. The deluxes take the longest, because they are the most intricate. For your week, you will see very few resorts completed.

I figured we'd be pushing it, but we really didn't want to miss F&W! As long as we can make MVMCP and get some Disney Christmas we should be fine.

That's a little early because the resorts are gradually decorated, but it's not complete until the day after Thanksgiving which is the start of the holiday season for all of DW. They'll start making the GF gingerbread house, but it's unlikely it'll be complete by Nov 10. Most of the resorts are decorated one at a time, but often the transformation occurs overnight and there's no announced schedule.

After the last Halloween party (usually Nov 1 or 2), the MK will be transformed from Halloween to Christmas in time for the first MVMCP. There's usually about a week between the 2 events. Osborne Lights typically start about the same time, but most other holiday events (e.g. Candlelight Processional) won't start until the day after Thanksgiving.

My suggestion to hit both F&W and MVMCP would be to stay two weeks. It is really the most sensible thing to do :teacher:

So if one were to be at WDW from say Nov 8 to Nov 22 in 2014 (so leaving the Saturday before Thanksgiving) would resorts be decorated?

If so, that might change my opinion on where to stay.

Some would be decorated; most likely the easiest ones; however the more intricate deluxe ones are not guaranteed to be done until the day after Thanksgiving, as PP's stated.

From past experience they start the week before Thanksgiving. We were there last year during the week that you are planning on going and none of the resorts had their decorations. MK will have their decorations though, as the first MVMCP is November 8th this year.

We went the weekend before Thanksgiving a few years ago, staying at the Wilderness Lodge, and the tree had just gone up a few days before we arrived (so, about 7-10 days before T-giving). We visited the Grand Floridian during our stay to see the Gingerbread House and it had been completed a few days before, also. I would say that if you're there until the Saturday before T-giving, most of the resorts will be decorated and you should be able to see the Gingerbread House and the resort Christmas trees.

You're too early. The resorts dont decorate until closer to Thanksgiving.
