April 29-May 24: The Arts Center of Coastal Carolina presents Gypsy! Considered by many to be the greatest American musical of all time, Gypsy tells the backstage tale of vaudeville entertainer-turned-stripper Gypsy Rose Lee and her domineering stage mother, Rose. Stephen Sondheim’s lyrics and Jule Styne’s infectious music produced more than its share of Broadway standards, including “Everything’s Coming Up Roses,” “Together Wherever We Go,” and the climactic “Rose’s Turn.” This popular show has appeared on Broadway five times, with the original production winning eight Tonys including Best Musical. May 2 – May 9: With a full line-up of events, Bike & Dine Week celebrates the island’s bicycle friendly setting with island-wide bike and dine specials, coffee and lunch meet-ups at various restaurants in Coligny Plaza, an after work networking ride, bike to work day, special Brew and Bite event and a beach bike ride.

Saturday, May 2 – Island-wide kickoff of Bike & Dine Week! Travel by bike to your favorite restaurant and take advantage of their cycling specials. Sunday, May 3 – Bike & Dine History Tour –Start and leave from Ruby Lee’s on Old Wildhorse Road at 10 a.m. Monday, May 4 – Meet up for coffee at Skillet’s Café in Coligny Plaza at 8:30 a.m Tuesday, May 5 – Lunch meet-up at Coligny Plaza at noon Wednesday, May 6 –Safe Ride to School Day & Chamber After-Work Networking Ride at Bomboras at 5:30 p.m. Ride your bike and meet up at Bomboras for a networking ride around South Forest Beach. Thursday, May 7 – Hilton Head Island Bike to Work Day with noon meet-up lunch at Charbar Co. Friday, May 8 – Bikes, Brews & Bites – start and leave from Captain Woody’s on Target Road and travel to various Island establishments, starting at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, May 9 – Community Beach Bike Ride at Coligny Plaza at 9 a.m. The free bike ride from Coligny Beach to Palmetto Dunes and back is organized by the Town of Hilton Head Island and the Bicycle Advisory Committee and is an open to all.

May 1-3: Hilton Head Island Boat Show at Windmill Harbour! Don’t miss the 11th In The Water Boat Show. Windmill Harbour, known for some of the finest waters on the East Coast, will be showcasing some of the finest boats as well. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. $12 per person in advance, $15 at the gate. 12 and under free. May 2 – 3: Join Outside Hilton Head for a celebration of everything paddling! Try out every kayak and stand up paddleboard that Outside Hilton Head sells. Take part in one of their expert-led clinics on Kayak Fishing, SUP Yoga, Coastal Kayaking, Boat Design, SUP Fitness and Coastal Paddle Boarding. A highlight of this year’s celebration will be a One-Design Paddle Board Race each day.Paddle Fest ’15 will be held at The Hilton Head Island Boat Show in Windmill Harbour. May 2: The Island Recreation Association introduces the Beer, Bacon & Music Festival from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. at Shelter Cove Community Park. Beer, Bacon & Music is a brand new festival developed by the Island Recreation Association to benefit the Association’s Children’s Scholarship Fund to ensure that no child is denied recreational activities.This extraordinary culinary adventure will be all the fun of a bacon themed block party mixed with a full scale festival experience. Join us as many of the area’s top restaurants, several of the area’s top bands, and hundreds of the area’s top food lovers gather to celebrate American traditions – Beer, Bacon & Music. This event will feature bacon sampling and full sized bacon cuisine, bacon confectionary delights, live music from some of the area’s top bands (who also love bacon), bacon cooking competitions, full service bars with beer, liquor, wine and bacon themed cocktails. May 3: Step aboard stunning yachts, docked in The Sea Pines Resort’s Harbour Town Yacht Basin, and enjoy wine and mouthwatering hors d’oeuvres freshly prepared by some of the area’s premier chefs! This fundraising event also includes entertainment by The Headliners, as well as silent and live auctions. The evening closes with dessert and a champagne toast. Thursdays: Join The Hottest Spots for a Bar Crawl Park Plaza and Riley’s Plaza aka The Triangle on Hilton Head. Just like a pub crawl you will be crawling with a group of people that all have the same goal… to have the time of their life! Thursdays: The best live local music combines with gourmet food and fantastic sunset water views for the return of Music & Taste on the Harbour, an annual spring tradition at Shelter Cove Harbour. Local bands will take the stage, while select Shelter Cove restaurants offer appetizers and drink specials. Entrance to the event is free and it is weather permitting. No coolers or outside food are allowed, and limited seating is available. Attendees are encouraged to bring canned good donations for the Deep Well Project. May 15 – 17: Join us at the Palmetto Dunes Tennis Center for the Smash T1D Team Tennis Challenge presented by the No More Diabetes Foundation. May 16: This year the 28th Annual All Saints Garden Tour, which is themed “A Potpourri of Gardens,” will showcase six of the area’s finest gardens. At this annual event, there will be be a boutique, a bake sale, and Pino Gelato cart located in the parish hall, as well as a variety of original works of art available for sale by different vendors on the church grounds, and a special lecture about the treatment of the diseases of trees.This event provides the rare opportunity for everyone to see some of the premier gardens in our area, while at the same time helping our community respond to the challenges of hunger, homelessness, literacy, and aging,” said Jim Osberg, Chair of the 2015 All Saints Garden Tour Board.Tickets cost $35 and include a seated luncheon that will be served in the church’s parish hall from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. They can be purchased beforehand at several retail outlets located on Hilton Head Island and in Bluffton, or at the church, the day of the event. May 16: The Kiwanis Club of Hilton Head Island announces The 19th Annual Rib Burnoff and Barbecue Fest. The Club expects participants from both restaurants and amateurs alike. Professional certified judges will direct the blind judging to pick the Judge’s award winners and ticket holders will vote for the popular vote winners. A children’s tent will be available featuring face painting and The Johnnie O Band (formerly The Porta Johns) will entertain the crowd with music well suited to barbecue cooking and eating. May 22-24 Over the years, Gregg Russell has become a Sea Pines Classic, Under the Liberty Oak in Harbour Town is where you’ll find Gregg Russell entertaining adults and children alike. His concerts are not to be missed. Shows are free.

May 23 & 24: 7th Annual Hilton Head Island Art Festival at Shelter Cove Harbour. 150 of the finest artists and crafters will converge upon Shelter Cove Harbour & Marina on Hilton Head Island for a two-day juried outdoor gallery style art exhibit. 4th Thursdays: Fire’em Up and Cruise In from 5-8 p.m. at the Shelter Cove Towne Centre. This classic car show takes place on Shelter Cove Lane waterside overlooking Broad Creek.
