We are going to be staying at RPR for 3 nights in December. The parks close at 6pm, any suggestions for what to do in the evenings? The 4 kids going are ages 8-11. I guess we can go for supper after the parks close and then if it's nice for a swim. Any other ideas?

December weather is hit or miss. Some cold snaps and some warm ones.

Do dinner at CW, catch a movie,go swimming weather permitting do the dive - movie,go to the other resorts, they are beautiful. If its the weekend you can do the Luau. Sightseeing the grounds. We never run out of things to do,:thumbsup2

We like to go to the dinner theatres. Pirate's Adventure is the closest to RPR but Arabian Nights is easy to get to and you can find pretty good deals for tickets on Ebay. Medieval Times is the furthest away (still not that far) and usually the most expensive but a lot of fun. All three are great for kids. If you want to save money you can walk around Citywalk or Downtown Disney for free and there is always International Drive.

How do you get to arabian knights if you're staying onsite at universal without a car. Is it far?

Arabian Knights is down near Disney in Kissimmee on 192 so it's pretty far from Universal. Since you are staying onsite, ask to see if they can arrange transportation for you.

ok-didn't know arabian knights was that far. Just thought it looked like fun and my daughter would love it but we'll have to wait until my ds is older. Too much like work going that far with him. Thanks for the info thought. Maybe next time.

Ok and for what else to do at night? All I keep hearing is, "When are we going swimming?" Can we go swimming as soon as we get there? Can we go after the park? Can we go everyday????? So I guess we vote for just swimming at the hotel pool:banana:

    Dinner and movie in CW
Dinner and stay for the entertainment in CW
    Tour the other resorts
Resort character or themed dinners. IE Islands Dining room has something going on every night such as character meals, magician etc.

    Swimming
Dive in movie at the resort pools (if they still have those)

Thanks for all the ideas. I just realized that Mickey's Christmas Party is on over at MK 2 of our 3 nights. It's from7-12 so maybe we'll get tickets for that one night.

They have a really nice movie theater at Citywalk with stadium seating. There are usually some good family movies to watch around the holiday season! :thumbsup2

Arabian Nights is about 14 miles from USF, 15-20 minutes by car. Transportation probably wouldn't be that expensive if you wanted to go.

Actually the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World published a study (under the section Whose Dream Is It?) years ago that showed smaller children considered the hotel pool to be the best part of their WDW vacation.

I would agree with this. I remember the first time we took our eldest DS, he had just turned 5, and all he wanted to do was swim in the pool. DH and I just looked at each and realized we spent all this money for a WDW vacation and the kid never wanted to leave the resort. We have this one picture taken at Downtown Disney where they add the characters to photos. Well DH and I are smiling and DS has the most sour look on his face because we made him leave the pool. We laugh about it now.

On some evenings, the RPR has a torch lighting ceremony.

At PBH, they have musicians singing on the balconey after sunset.

All three hotels also have a Dive-in movie at their pools on select nights.
