What is Rosen Inn REALLY like?

We have never stayed in any hotel near Universal and since this is a last minute trip we are looking to save a few bucks. They have what seems like a good deal with the hotel Rosen Inn but after reading the reviews I’m a little hesitant. It will have lots of good reviews and the next one will be bed bugs and cockroaches….eek. I want to save some money but not if it’s a dump. I get grossed out pretty easily! I like the fact that we can come back from the park and eat at a reasonable priced restaurant rather than staying closer to the park and just having the city walk choices. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Subscribing for info. I've got a room booked for February and the reviews from the past year are outstanding. It was supposedly updated within the last year and a lot better than the years before.

I think there are a few Rosen Inns in Orlando? I remember seeing them from I4.
Anyway, a friend of mine stayed in one of them last spring and enjoyed it. Her dh attended a conference there and she joined him. She had no complaints. HTH!

To which Rosen Inn are you referring? There are several. We stayed at the Rosen Inn Closest to Universal (6327 International Drive) in November and found it to be just fine. The room was clean and beds were very comfortable. I didn't care much for the area (we usually stay in Kissimmee and had never stayed on International Drive before), but it was VERY close to Universal (2 minutes or so) and convenient to leave for a rest in the middle of the day. We didn't use the pool or eat in the restaurant, but it was a positive experience overall. Hope this helps!

Yes the one near Universal.

We booked the room through Universal and got a special buy 2 days, get 2 days free for the parks as well as early entry to UO each morning. I thought it was a good deal! The hotel isn't particularly fancy, but we had no complaints. Good luck!

That sounds great! Did you use their shuttle at all, or is that drive-time?

We did not use their shuttle, as we always have our car. If memory serves, it's a left out of the hotel parking lot and another left at the next light, right across from Wet & Wild. We found it very easy to leave midday, grab lunch somewhere, and take a quick nap before heading back for the afternoon.

We are staying there in March, a little hesitant as well BUT I read a lot of bad reviews about Pop Century and we loved it. Please post back how your stay was! Thanks!!

Just got back from our 4 night stay at Rosen Inn closest to Universal. The place, for the money, is alright. The face of the hotel and awning faces I-4, not International Drive; so all 8 of our Uber drivers had a terribly hard time finding the entrance. That was the first thing we were weirded out by.
The second weird thing was that the hotel has a motel section attached to it. A 4 story outdoor-entry building that is closer to International drive than the main tower. I was about to be FURIOUS if they put us in one of those rooms, but luckily they put us in the tower. I'm still not sure how that building works.

When we finally got checked in I was surprised to see 2 full beds, not queen beds. I'm sure my reservation mentioned full beds, and that was alright, but I've just never slept in a hotel that uses full beds. The rooms were also surprisingly small, which didn't make them feel 'homey'.

The hotel and room seemed clean, but the brown and tan color scheme they used in the room didn't convey the message that it was actually clean. Almost every wall socket had no friction, so everything we plugged in kept falling out. There were no windows in the hallways, and the lighting was pretty poor, so that dampened the mood a bit.

For a place to sleep that is close to the parks, it was okay, but it certainly wasn't a 4 star hotel. I'm sure it is much better than it used to be, but it isn't quite there yet.

Thanks for the info, especially about the Uber drivers - good tip to have as we will be using them a bit as well. I will be sure to request a room in the tower too!! These boards are priceless for information like this! Thank you!

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: I guess you never stay in the WDW Value "Resorts" LOL

I am surprised that the difference of a half a foot (6 inches) is noticeable

but I agree it is . . .
