What is going on with Rental Car Prices? $838 for 9 days?

What is going on with rental car prices! I got $838 for an economy through Alamo. That is without any codes of coupons. With codes and coupon it is $730! I have never seen prices this high! What is going on? Are they going to come down? I have an economy booked through Dollar for a little over $300. We go every year at the same time and I have never payed more than $200. Anyone know

Prices just seem higher this year. $310 is the best I've found using any code, for 8 days in late February. Usually I can get it closer to $200-$250.

I just got $99.00 with Alamo for a mid-size in January for 4 days. Got my email comp and yes it is $99.00!!! No code was used. Everyone else was over $200.00.
