What food/cuisine does Disney need, or need improved?

    Would love to see Vietnamese cuisine - it would make a great cart food. Could offer summer rolls - the ones in rice paper and not fried because they're light, easy to prepare, require minimal cooking beforehand and ingredients are inexpensive. Also, a good bowl of pho offered at a stand would be great.

    I always thought this is what they should do at POR. They should combine Boatwright's and the River Roost into 1 big restaurant and lounge and turn it into Tiana's Place with a more authentic Southern cuisine menu with some Bayou flair. Of course, Ye Haa Bob would be moved into the restaurant or lounge area. I think Boatwright's is fine if you are staying at POR and just want to relax at the resort at night, but Tiana's Place would be more of a destination for those not staying at POR.

    That is basically exactly what I was thinking (just not with Pooh and friends since they already have a character meal or 2).

    I always thought a Pixar restaurant would be great. They have Cinderella (CRT), Belle (Akerhaus) and Beast (BOG) meet separate.... why not Buzz, Woody, Characters from UP, Wreck it Ralph? You could have a different set for each meal or something. They don't need to walk around since they gave set up successful character meals not walking to each table...

    I have thought about a Tiana's place ever since the movie came out and they marketed her recipes in a Disney Store cookbook and as part of the DS game...beignets, gumbos and muffalettas!

    I think a Tinkerbell and Fairy Friends character meal would do great in The Land area...that would be another great organic food tie-in

    I saw it on here somewhere but I love the idea of Greek food in Epcot with it's own pavilion...

    With Pixar, they could even jump on the food truck craze and have a Mack food truck...

    There is an Indian restaurant right outside disney in the crossroads shopping center fyi! :-)

    Ah, yes. A lobster roll that has shrimp is all wrong.

    I will also add that the PotC ride in Paris has a restaurant. It's sort of pirate themed. It's a bit like the Mexico restaurant in Epcot, but no characters. It was some time ago that I went.

    I also loved that in the Paris theme park served kids Mickey shaped pizza. Tehre are plenty of small fun things WDW could do like that.

    Another super fun thing...the Land grows a few Mickey shaped foods. It woudl be super cool to get a salad some where that had say - hidden Mickey cucumber slices as a garnish. I truly think something like that would encourage kids to try more healthy foods.

    Love the Tiana idea. There is New Orleans food at POFQ.

    If they are going to add an adult only place (don't love that idea)...but if they did, it should be an 'adult' character meal. Tarzan rocked!:lmao: They could also add Pirates Sparrow and Turner....maybe Ariel....

    I agree. Their attempt at southern/country cooking is pathetic. No self-respecting southern cook would put the food they serve at LTT dinner on their table. It doesn't take long to cook a meal that doesn't taste processed, frozen, or canned. :sad2:

    Maybe, they need some adult only restaurants & an adult character meal. I want some adult only restaurants to be able to enjoy a romantic meal with my DH, without the noise, chaos, & interruptions you experience at other restaurants. I'd also like to be able to enjoy a nice meal with my 21 yr. old. w/o having to yell across the table. This is why I said no large adult groups also. They're just as loud, if not louder than kids. I definitely don't want an adult character meal for me, but if others want it, I hope they get it. I can understand why those with younger kids wouldn't want an adult only restaurant, but kids grow up quickly. They'll be grown & no longer traveling with you (not you personally), before you know it. Trust me I know. I'd happily pass on a restaurant that was adult only to have my DS be younger again. :(

    It sounds like DLP has some unique dining experiences. For curiosity, do they have a dining plan? I'm guessing not. At least, not one similar to DDP. As long as WDW offers DDP, I don't expect any of the unique offerings to reappear.

    HK style Dim sum (has to be good and not over priced) would be a great option

    I would say they need a burger option or a chicken sandwich option on all menus. We are fine without it, we go to Pecos bills when we want a burger, but sometimes we are limited on where we dine if traveling with others and there are picky eaters involved. One example, I personally love Marrakesh but my son won't eat anything there and it is one that we often skip

    I agree with more Mexican restaurants. We do not like San Angel at ALL, so we never eat there, but would love to find some great Mexican food.

    LTT is not supposed to be indicative of Southern food. The description says, "Colonial New England." Although, I don't think it's representative of 'self-respecting' cooks from that part of the country either.

    Did you perhaps mean Sassagoula Floatworks? (POFQ):confused3

    They need another new restaurant at MK. maybe close Tonys & open a southern home cookin kinda place. fried chicken,grits,homemade biscuits, pork chops, greens etc.... :bitelip:

    I'd love to see a fancy Hawaiian restaurant @ Poly. Amazing fish & pineapple salsas etc.... The poly show food was Ehhhhhh :hippie:

    A Tex-mex kinda place maybe in Adventureland. Table service & not QS for a nice AC place to sit. I HATE swiss family tree house make that into a fun place to eat? LOL

    one of those build your own frozen yogurt places? I"ve never been to one HAH but I'd assume theyd be fun :)

    All great ideas! I was also thinking that they could put the Tiana/New Orleans-style restaurant in MK somewhere or maybe like you are saying, close Tony's and put it there!

    I also agree they need some good dining in Adventureland. It is my favorite land at MK, but it needs more! We haven't been to the Swiss Tree in like 10 years! There is LOTS of room there to expand if you take the tree out (sorry to those that love it).

    If they would go back to the days before the standardized bar menus, that would be good enough for me.

    Oh, and no additional character meals. Replace an existing one with a new one, OK.

    Shake Shack has denied the rumor. We shall see what goes in there.

    Ohhhhh New Orleans place sounds good too. :) I miss Copelands I used to live near one here but it closed :(

    Food at Disney has just gotten boring and of so so quality. But everyone loves it because (a) it's Disney and (B) we got such a good deal with the DDP.

    It totally depends on what part of the south you're talking about. LTT's food is reminiscent of country cooking that is served in many parts of the south. It's just a very poor representation. The actual restaurant is styled in a Colonial style. I automatically think of Williamsburg, VA, when I see it. Regardless, let's not forget there's more to the south than Alabama, Mississippi, & Louisiana. ;)

    All great ideas. I'm not sure I have anything new to add, but I can just chime in with dittos.

    Love the idea of a NY deli. Breakfast sandwiches on hard rolls that actually taste like something, real coffee (light and sweet, please), kosher pickles, pizza by the slice. And HS would be a great place. We always arrive super early to do TSM and then end up hanging around for a couple hours until everything else opens. We walked for at least 15 minutes just to find a blinkin Coke. Terrible.

    A large Indian buffet would be terrific in my mind. I know, I know...buffets. But would love it for lunch.

    South America is glaringly absent at WDW. I'm not into steakhouses and not sure WDW needs another one but a lot of people like those Brazilian steakhouses.

    Love tapas. If I had my way, we'd eat this way all the time.

    Also with a lot of DITTO. Mexican, more American, other ethnic. Like the theme ideas, Fairies, Pixar - did anyone suggest Villains? That'd be a fun one. More quick serve that's nicer, better quality for the prices vs. the burger/pizza options.

    Can't exactly disagree. When we first started really dining, we liked the variety. Menus are more limited - typical 1 steak, 1 chicken, 1 pasta, etc. - it does seem more average now, especially the basic (1 credit) table service. Plenty of places I still have/want to try, others no interest in every going back (Tonys, WCC, LTT). Probably why we stick to signature. FWIW. :-)

    While there are regional differences in what folks serve on Thanksgiving, I have little doubt that turkey is pretty much served in every state, by at least one family. I was not trying to imply that nobody in the south eats turkey - or 'traditional foods' like thsoe wserved at LTT.

    This is one of the those things where, "colonial" might equal Willliamsburg to you, because that is the 'colonial' you know. That's doesn't mean it's the only one. I quoted the actual Disney website, which says "New England," and I think probably all 13 of the the former colonies likely have their own version of Williamsburg- like places.
