Did you ask to speak to the ticket office cast members lead? now that you have actually activated your ticket, you should go back to a ticket booth and ask again, and if they say no, ask to speak to the lead. City Hall has always said no, just like when you phone to ask, and another member here asked at the ticket booth was told no, but when they asked to talk to the lead, the lead said yes and did it! When we did ours less than a month ago, the cast member at the ticket booth had to have the lead come over and do it on their computer screen, the cast member themself could not do it.

You see this with many businesses when they make a change they will implement it slowly.

I think you will find that as the weeks and months pass the chance you will be able to upgrade any ticket past 5 days will become difficult to finally impossible.

Try again. If that doesn't work, try again at a different ticket booth (different physical building). Ask for a "lead" if necessary. People have been successful recently, even with 5 day tickets, so don't give up. Be sure your whole party is there with you as you may need to show ID for each adult.

To others who get bummed out over one story of rejection... STOP IT. :) Seriously though, there are plenty of success stories and I'm sure many who are successful do not report back. Until there's either an official announcement from DL or we really see wide spread rejections with zero success stories, I wouldn't lose hope. That being said, I also wouldn't plan a trip with the expectation of success. I know that sounds awful but it's the current reality of the situation. Man I wish the execs would figure this out and cater to their customers needs.

Don't give up! Go to another ticket booth. Yesterday I upgraded three 5 day passes to 6 day passes. The first agent and "manager" said we were out of luck and when I said that last week people had successfully upgraded, she said "Last week we were figuring things out. This week we won't let you upgrade and you have to get a 1 day pass or AP instead. I walked across the esplanade to another booth and the woman and "manager" there had absolutely no problem making the changes. We had not used any days yet on our passes.

If you are told no, go to another booth.

Sorry for any typos, I am on my phone.

This is possible but if they were really making change you would think they would just take the option off the computer. Leaving this much uncertainty is poor customer service.

Sorry I didn't say how many tickets. We were able to upgrade 5 6 day park hoppers ( bought before the ticket changes) to 8 day hoppers for a total of 25 dollars. so it was 5 dollars per ticket to get 2 more days.

Well, yes, that's exactly my fear for our Halloween trip, that they will have gotten everyone on board with the No Extensions idea. But we'll see.
I really appreciate everyone who has taken the time to come to this thread and report on their experiences, positive, negative--or a bit of both, as seems to occur for many!

I don't think it's the difference between a 5 day pass and a 6 day pass. It's a matter of finding a CM at a ticket booth who knows how to add days. I know it must be frustrating when you run into a CM who doesn't know how, but just try another ticket booth. There are some replies in this thread of successfully adding days to 5 day passes. See the quoted examples below. :goodvibes

I was denied tonight. :-( I wanted to add 1 day to a 6 day and they said 'no" they no longer sell 7 days. We are on day 5 of 6 today-with the last day tomorrow morning. I would come back on Monday if we could. We have finished everything we wanted to - hurt by the 95 degree temps this week.

Alas. So, assume you can't and hope for the best. I'll try again tomorrow morning. (and try early on in your trip) I wanted to wait until later on as I wanted to see how we were doing. DH has 1 more day left on his hopper too so it would just be for DS and I.

Not to stir the pot :stir: with what I said but after watching how many businesses (including Disney) implement changes I think people need to get ready for this decision. Disney no longer will sell 6+ day passes (I think Austrailian guests may be the only exception) and the exceptions that Lead's make will be exactly that Exceptions.

For years it was not an issue to upgrade your ticket from 5 to 6, 7, or 8 day tickets but I believe those days are coming to an end. No matter how :furious: Mad you get the best way to deal with the decison is not to get mad at the Leads or the ticket agents.

I have seen this done before with TV shows that get cancelled, products that get pulled etc. We need a letter writing campaign. If enough people send letters to the same address (ie George K) it will be noticed. Emails are to easy to disregard. I would be happy to send a letter if someone was to organize this.

I agree it seems silly that they have spent all this money making this a major DESTINATION but then limit the amount of days (financially) many people can visit and spend their tourist dollars.

So curiousity got the better of me so I went to the website to compare package pricing for a 5 night 5 day to a 5 night 6 day package cost. Only the "book your vacation package" option was down yesterday. I checked again and it's still down?

I just can't understand this policy. This is terrible customer service. This is terrible business practice. I'd be so flaming mad if I was in some of your shoes. So Joe gets the wrong person and can't get the trip he could plan ahead of time but spent a lot of money to make happen, but Jane can because she asked the right person. And Jennifer and John are scared and trying to figure out how to plan their stay because their families of 5 really are impacted because they want to know if they can get tickets that used to be there for say $60 more for their family, but now may be $607 more for "one more disney day", or hey, they can shell out a mere $1855 for PAPs they won't really use, or maybe say they can squeak by with DAPs for an additional $955, UNLESS of course one of their dates is a blockout date, in which case make that an addtional $1205...

AS IF THIS IS ROCKET SCIENCE. It is not. If you can get Mickey to talk and blink, surely we can figure out how to sell honest folks tickets that give them the "Magic their Way" vacations....

Umm, I think there's a bit of confusion here, my understanding is that now, if you try to book any length of stay, the maximum ticket they'll sell is 5 days. So, in the example above, 5 nights 5 days would be exactly the same cost as 5 nights 6 days... because there's no option to buy a 6 day ticket.

FYI They have now taken off the 6 day hopper off the convention rate tickets. A week or so ago it was there.

This one I do not understand as you can't really scalp a convention ticket as they are only good for certain days and you can't really add or do anything with them. At least that was my understanding.

So do you really think that the scalping of tickets was the reason. It would seem not, but I am at a loss. Anyone have any speculations?

I am almost certain it's to thin crowds (a major complaint by people) while still making money. I think scalpers were a convenient excuse for them as it puts blame on the customer, not them. I highly doubt they cause them THAT much concern. So many in this thread feel they have power in that they'll just take their business elsewhere for those extra days, but that's what Disney wants. They make that money they're missing by you leaving back with the higher price tags, while taking care of crowd control at the same time. Many have also said they're considering going over to WDW instead, which is also a positive outcome for them, as attendance there is flagging and is more suited to larger crowds.

While I appreciate them trying to take care of crowds and customer complaints (I certainly don't like huge crowds!) I am saddened it's at the expense of those that already have difficulty affording a Disney vacation. Now the rich still get the same enjoyment, plus thinner crowds, while those of more medium income cannot have as long a vacation, or can't go at all. Just.... stinks.

Mamachelle - Hehe :D Totally going to have to sketch out a Greedy dwarf sometime for fun! (I'm an artist) I'm also going in December. It's going to be a blast and I'm sure my toddler will have the best time ever! :)

Hilarious!!!:rotfl: :rotfl2:have him holding a 6day ticket with a big "x" on it and the a finger pointing and the person looking at him!!! haha i can somewhat picture it in my head!!!

the rich get richer!!! very sad, i am still going to try anyways and just hope for an extra day at disney, won't hurt to ask. and even if we don't get it, we plan on going every december so whatever we missed this year at our slower pace we can definitely see next year! not going to be all bummed about it already. nothing that I can do about it anyway. rules are rules!

My girlfriend and I upgraded our city pass 3 day park hoppers to 7 day park hoppers for $42 dollars each. Just went and asked the night we got there if we could do it and the guy said we could do it after we use 1 day, so the next day we used it and upgraded. :)
