What do you do to make your resort room nicer

We are prepping for our first full onsite stay at Pop in Sept. In the past we have stayed onsite for a day or two before either switching to a condo/townhouse or going on a cruise, but this time we are staying onsite for a week at Pop Century with free dining.

I have plans to decorate the windows, bring DS some gifts from Mickey, and we already have a small travel coffee pot that will come with us, but what do other people do to make their rooms more festive or comfortable? Just looking for ideas of what others do.

I don't really bring anything to keep the room more festive or comfortable, but I do have a few things I bring to keep the room organized (which I guess, in turn, makes it more comfortable for me. :)). I have a few collapsible fabric bins of various sizes that I bring along regardless of where we stay. They're great for extra storage -- especially on the shelf in the "closet" by the bathroom sink. I have one that's small (about 5" x 7" x 2") which is a great end-of-day catch-all for watches, magic bands, receipts, etc. -- basically anything small that might get lost in the room. I also take a collapsible sweater holder that hangs from the bar in the closet. That's where my youngest daughter usually stores her clothing (each outfit in a ziploc bag) so it's easy to grab an outfit and get dressed every morning. I've also used it just for extra storage in general. At Pop Century, since there is limited counter space around the bathroom sink, I take an over-the-door shoe holder that I also hang from the bar in the closet (and usually put empty suitcases on the luggage rack behind it to keep it flush). We use the pockets for all of our bathroom sink supplies (toothbrushes, toothpaste, shaving supplies, sunscreen, air freshener, etc.).

Thank you for those hints. We bring a lot of those when we cruise, but I don't have them on my Disney packing list yet. And yes, by more comfortable I meant either more organized, fun, or actually comfortable. I have cruises and off site stays down to a science, but not onsite stays yet.

I do this exactly (except our shoe holder went over the bathroom door), and I do my daughter's outfits in ziploc bags too! I also always bring a pump soap from Bath & Body Works to wash our hands... that's just a 'me' thing... I prefer liquid soap to wash my hands. I also bring an envelope for each day, and put our receipts from the day in it, and will jot on it a few things about our day (weather... time out of room, time back, nap or not, swim or not). I do that b/c I do albums of our trips (sometimes a couple years later), and it helps me record in the scrapbook those details.

The Bath & Body Works soap is a great idea! Something about that hotel bar soap that just doesn't do it for me when washing hands.

We usually bring a small pack of Lysol wipes and give the room a good "once over" with those when we check in. Door knobs, sink top and faucet, and yes....I'll say it.... the toilet. Are we germiphobes? You all can be the judge of that. But that's my story and I'm stickin' to it:D

I also take liquid soap for the bathroom(s). I usually just pick up something that smells good and is cheap and then I leave it behind when we checkout.

I almost forgot one of my favorite things to take on a Disney trip...

If you use the refillable mugs and have more than 3 people in your room, this caddy from Thirty One is a life saver. You can fit up to six mugs in it --- meaning one person can take the mugs from the room and go refill them by themselves. I've used it on 3 trips now and every time I use it, I have at least 1 or 2 people stop me and ask where I got it. I've also used the cardboard carriers you get from fast food places, but I like this better as it folds flat and is waterproof (and easily wipes clean)

Comfortable - pump hand soap (foam), small battery operated tealights to use as night lights on the sink area and the back of the toilet if its in a separate area, small fleece or fuzzy blanket that I like over my arms when sleeping - I hate my arms to be under the sheets, I feel constricted but the blanket is lighter and I can throw it off if I get too warm. Ipod/speaker which charges the Ipod since I like to have music playing whenever I am in the room including at night ..........my best friend and I travel a lot and we tell people we book rooms without a TV in it (there is one) but we never turn it on! I love the fabric "boxes", hanging shoe bags etc and those go everywhere with us even for a 1-2 night trip! Clips of some sort (chip clips work great) to hold curtains closed.

Now decorative - that's another story :) Small strings (100ct) of clear mini christmas lights or sometimes colored depending on the holiday at the time of year we are traveling - we hang them in various places in the room to enjoy. We have been known to travel with a 6ft collapsible christmas tree (Disney themed) but that's only when we drive and travel in December :) Decorations for the windows, gel or reusable stickers to put on the windows and the bathroom mirror - they don't leave a mess at all. Welcome mat to put outside our door - depends on where we are staying - sometimes we keep it inside for us to enjoy rather than put it outside the door. Command strips and other command products are our best friend! When we cruise we bring lots of magnets to hold things to our walls, we have banners from Staples to use for pictures (embarkation, fun shots on the ship at night when photographers are set up) then we put them up in our cabin.

Somewhere on the boards is a thread about things people bring that are useful for traveling and I have found great ideas on there, over time I have added and subtracted from the items which I pack...........now I have just about perfected my "room needs" and they stay packed in packing cubes at all times , if there is something I need to add I can, if a trip or two goes by and there are things we never touched they get removed! The cubes are marked land or sea since our needs are a little different for those two types of trips.

We always take liquid soap because that is so much easier to use than the little bars (especially with a 5 yo).

That caddy is amazing. I have been searching for something like that to hold drinks forever. I've done the cardboard Chick Fil A caddies covered in duck tape on cruises before and that is OK, but not great. I will be ordering one of those caddies from my friendly Thirty One rep, ASAP.

LOVE the caddy idea! We have six in our group and four of them are under the age of 9. This will be perfect for our refillable drink mugs!

Don't forget to use those wipes on the remote & phone... there are some disturbing videos about what happens to that remote!

throw blanket/s for napping :)

travel candle and matches

Cottonelle wipes

assorted snacks, like cereal bars

electric kettle (it's small)
my own tea and coffee + paper mugs

ipod with Disney music to play through the little stereo/alarm clock/docking station (not sure the rooms still have these?)

I don't really bring anything. We typically stay at POR and are obsessed with the resort, and we couldn't think of any ways to make it better! The most we do is keep the room tidy so Mousekeeping doesn't have too much work to do in our room.

Agree with the fan. It helps us sleep. And my Tempur pedic pillow if I can fit it in.

Honestly? Nothing. I find the rooms comfortable as they are, whether it be our stays at mods or DVC. The less stuff I need to lug with me when I fly the better. The rooms have coffee machines, not certain why you need to bring your own coffee pot?

Value resort do not have coffee makers in them.
The only things I consistently bring is a small cutting board and a sharp knife and a travel wine glass. We order from Garden Grocer and always get a block of cheese and crackers and some beer and wine, among things like water, soda, breakfast foods, fruit etc.

The one thing I always make sure to take with me when I travel is a bottle of liquid hand soap, I just put it on the sink in the bathroom and everyone uses it to wash their hands, we never find those tiny hotel room soaps adequate for washing your hands multiple times a day. I usually bring a fun scent of the foaming hand soap that everyone likes from bath and body works, super easy to throw into my makeup bag and sit out when we get there.
