After a typical interrupted hotel night sleep, I was up by 5:30 am. I wanted to go down and grab some yummy hot free breakfast before heading into the parks. I was not disappointed; even the coffee tasted good. I did bring my own creamer. Its in the fridge pic.
I am one of those.
The parks opened at 8 that day. We did;t have access to EMH/MM so we decided to do the park opposite the extra hour.
Disneyland was our destination!
The first shuttle left the ES at 7:15; 45 minutes before official park opening. We were all ready, walked outside at 7:10, saw the line for the shuttle, and decided to drive.
We are just too old to battle for shuttle seats and deal with strollers and people's children.
I know that sounds terrible and that we are out Disney but if you've been on a shuttle, you know what I mean.
Michael was game for driving and that made me happy.
We arrived to the parking structure at about 7:25; a little later than I wanted but no later than the shuttle would have dropped up.
We pulled up to pay our $17, Disney music blaring, and happy shiny faces smiling. The CM smiled and asked if we were celebrating anything. I told him that Michael's birthday was just a few days before, he said wonderful, chatted another minute about where we were from, and asked me to hold on....All the while Michael tapping his fingers because there I go chatting and being friendly again.
The CM returns and tells us we are the Mickey and Friend's Guest of the Day.
Now what the heck does it mean? Well it meant we got free front row parking all day- even when we came back after our break. We got an escort to the park a cute certificate.
Tim was our sweet escort who took us to our spot. Of course I had to get his photo.
It was such a magical way to begin the day! Soon glad we opted out of the shuttle.
Because we used the parking garage we had to take the tram to bag check. Its been years since I've been on the tram but it brought back loads of happy childhood memories.
Once off the tram and through security, we had about 10 minutes until park opening. It wasn't crowded and I wanted my crew not to get a false sense of security because it was Spring Break and it would get packed. I hate being right.
The allowed us in the park and then to the ropes. Ahhhh, back on Main St is where I love to be.
I didn't get any Main St pics that morning because my family is always too hyped to stop during the first morning.
I did stand back and get this. I caught up to them.
We decided we wanted to start in Adventureland. Its our collective favorite. I had a date with a handsome Dr. Jones!
The CM chatted a little, we counted down, and she dropped the rope. Everyone did that weird run/walk thing.
Indy was a walk on so we decided to grab FPs too.
We never have to walk through the queue but today we did so I took advantage and got a few photos. Every pic was taken with my iPhone. We brought the big camera but wanted to travel light.
After Indy, we headed to POTC. After POTC we went to BTMRR where we grabbed FPs
And rode without FPs. Thats my favorite early morning thing to do. Grab FPs, ride, and then use the FPs at the end of the window time.
BTMM selfie:
After BTMRR we got a churro
And then went on HM. Its been a while since we've done HM without the NBC overlay. I forgot how great it is!
I went a little overboard with the pics.
To be continued.....
