It's Planning Session day! Part 3
We rested up in the room before my dad finally got antsy (he’s doesn’t like sitting and doing nothing for long) and decided we should head over to the Boardwalk for our tasting. Jeff decided to change his clothes just a bit before the tasting. I think he was actually pretty smart, he changed into gym shorts.
We arrived a little early, and Carol wasn’t even there yet My dad doesn’t like to arrive late anywhere, and typically for him late would be arriving right on time, so we are usually a bit early. We started to look around a bit and I took a few pictures.
About 5 minutes later Carol showed up, and was a little surprised to see us. She checked to see if they were ready for us and they were! So she lead the way to the room we would be doing our tasting in!
We walked in the room and they were finishing setting up the food for us. Our server, I wish I could remember his name, asked us what we would like to drink.
We sat and talked amongst ourselves for a few minutes. Carol also pointed out the different napkin folds that were available on the table. Although with the colored napkins that we chose, there was really only one option. The white napkins are the only ones that starch enough to fold like this one.
After a few minutes, Chef Redgie had all the food ready for us. He brought us up and told us about each of the offerings we would be trying.
carve to order black pepper crusted strip loin of beef with a mushroom marsala sauce on the side.
mini cuban sandwiches
baked mac n cheese
pork with a mango & caramelized onion chutney, green beans, and a yellow rice mix
oven-roasted baked chicken stuffed with prosciutto, spinach, and fontina cheese, honey glazed carrots, and cream cheese mashed potatoes from Le Cellier
Almond Crusted Cheesecake from Narcoosees
We all started filling our plates!
Everything was sooo good! We felt a little bad, Redgie kept asking us to be critical but we didn’t really have much bad to say about anything. At first, my dad and sister weren’t too excited about the chicken. I mean, chicken is chicken right? They were totally blown away by the flavors. The spinach, prosciutto, and cheese really added to the chicken, and the chicken itself was cooked perfectly.
One of our favorite things was the mac n cheese! It was soooo good, Jeff went back for even more! In fact, we still talk about it now and can’t wait to have it in a few months! The beef was cooked perfectly for us, we like medium-medium rare beef so we were perfectly happy. We decided to add a horseradish sauce, and an herb butter sauce on the side for people to add to their beef if they would like.
We also loved the green beans and carrots. I especially loved the carrots. I think I could have eaten a whole plate of those! The honey glaze on them just added a hint of sweetness to them that was fantastic. I also loved the mashed potatoes! I love mashed potatoes period and those were perfect with the chicken and the beef.
The pork was delicious with the chutney on top and worked well with the rice. We decided we didn’t want the rice with it though. And lastly, one of my favorite thing...the cheesecake! I put this on the tasting menu because I really wanted Jeff to try it. Besides peanut butter desserts, Jeff’s favorite dessert is cheesecake, so I wanted to see what he thought of this one. Well, he thought it was delicious!! It was soo good. We were so full from food that I wasn’t able to finish my piece, but Jeff went ahead and finished it for me. In fact, he was pretty sad Mary let the waiter take the rest of hers so he couldn’t finish is too!
So here is our final menu
Cocktail hour
Before we left, Chef Redgie was so sweet and gave us a couple little gifts
He gave us a whisk and some heart cookie cutters. They are super cute! He also gave each of us rice krispy treat mickeys. Unfortunately, we forgot to take a picture of them. Jeff ate his before we left to come home, while the rest of us packed them in our bags. Sadly they ended up melting in the hot car. They still tasted really good, they looked like a hot mess when we got home so I didn’t take a picture of them. After Redgie gave us his gifts, Carol gave me hers.
She told me these were very new pins. She said all the planners want one but they have been told they have to give them to the brides Then it was time to say our good byes until October. We were walking out but I decided to go to the bathroom first. Luckily Carol was going back to the room to talk to Redgie, and I was able to talk to her alone for a minute. I had a surprise I wanted to add for DF. I asked if she could have them add something to the cake. Here is kind of what I was thinking.
I saw this idea on pinterest and immediately wanted to do this for Jeff. Instead of Spiderman, I wanted a soccer ball. She really liked this idea and said she would talk to the cake artist. I emailed her the picture I showed her. A little while later I received an email from her with an image of the soccer ball the cake artist already had to see if the size was alright. It was perfect! I can’t wait until we go look at the cake and Jeff see’s it
And with that, our wedding was all planned! It was so weird to be all the sudden have everything planned! We have a couple things up our sleeves for the wedding that I don't want to post on here in case family is reading. So you'll just have to follow along and see what they are
After I was done, we walked outside and decided to head back to the resort. We had planned on going straight to Epcot after but the sky was very dark and we figured it would rain, so we thought we would wait out the rain in our room.
