I'd like to at least put my feet in the water at either Puerto Vallarta or Cabo - so I can say I've been in the Caribbean (Castaway Cay) and the Pacific within a two-week period!

We've got a tour planned for PV that takes up most of the day, but have no plans in Cabo. I was looking around the Cruise Critic board and several people have mentioned the water taxis - wanted to know if anyone here had experience with them and/or could provide specifics on where they are located and what beaches they go to.

    Thanks!

In Cabo when you get off the tender a very short walk will bring you to the water taxi . you can take a water taxi directly across from the ship to the beach. "the office" is one of them. As long as you are mobile the water taxi work great because you do have to step on and off of them into water. We walked a little further to the back of the area and took a real taxi to the same beach and got to see a little of the city. We went to Miilgans which is right next to "TheOffice" played in the sand and the water, had lunch and sang with the music. You can see the ship directly across from the beach. Loved Cabo.

Has anybody done research on the availability free wifi in the various ports? I'm afraid of going through complete withdrawal over 14 days. :badpc:

Thanks for the info Alan. What is causing the problem? I know for those entering the USA there are long long lines at Immigration these days and I have heard of it taking 3 hours to get out of Orlando airport for international visitors!! But it sounds like something is disrupting domestic flights too from what you say. With only doing domestic flights this time as we are sailing over I was hoping for smoother exits from the airports!! Mind you the USA immigration coming in on a cruise line can be maddening. We in the UK make it much easier for you to enter the UK than the other way round. I wish they wouldn't treat us all as criminals and worse just because we want to come over for a holiday.

Thanks for the info - so, we should plan to wear our water shoes on the taxi & carry our sneakers, right? :)

Maybe we'll do a regular taxi one way and the water taxi the other... or is it close enough (2 miles or less) to walk back to the dock?

Not sure I understand completely with language differences and differences in ways of doing things but is it a way for the government to save money by not paying people for some time off work?

Pretty much. Think of it as unpaid, forced vacation (holiday).

Yes you are correct. The Federal Agency that controls our sky's, the FAA, has mandated that every two weeks x amount of controllers take a mandatory day off without pay. So with less eyes watching the sky delays will happen. That's why I sent out my post. It's not the airlines fault most likely that a flight is delayed these days it's the governments fault. That's why I was asking people to stay calm and not take the frustration on the poor front line people. I saw enough of that yesterday. One was so bad they had to call Airport police.

Thanks, Alan. Hope ONT will be easier. Regardless, we're prepared to "hurry up and wait" all the way to FLL.

Because of budget problems and the parties not able to reach a compromise, each government department is required to reduce their budgets. Homeland Security has chosen to do this by either furloughing agents or eliminating overtime, and Air Traffic Controllers are having mandatory furlough days, so instead of 10 controllers on a shift they'll have 9 and the employee will not be paid for that day.

Some of these problems should have been corrected before the budget fell apart. TSA agents regularly work overtime. They like it, because they get paid more for those hours. Better scheduling would prevent this budget buster.

Anyway, we are all going to have to suffer an inconvenience to bring the budget into better balance (it's never going to balance) and if that means standing in a security line for 40 minutes rather than 10, that's what we have to do. The TSA could have picked a different way to reduce their costs, but they want it this way. I actually think TSA will find they can schedule better and work more efficiently. Limit carry-ons. Enforce the size limits. Have an 'express' lane for people who have no carry-ons. A few years ago when England prohibited all carry ons (only a book and a ticket, if I recall), there were no lines at all!

Hopefully. Looks like there is no way to predict this one. Including today I have 7 more days of work until I am off for 23 days. I am ready to stay 2+ hours every night past my shift like I did last night (supposed to be off at midnight, clocked out at 2A.M.) till I am done before vacation.

Pretty sure that's info for the Roaming Jessica signup and not an IGT.

I think they are assigning now. The last two days they've released more rooms and categories back on to the website, so I figured they must have started figuring out what they have available. The OV (cat 9) cabins were listed for the first time in a long time, and even some 4A and 4B's were back.

Good luck in the assignment pool.

You have to login periodically and check. The *GT tracking thread shows most assignments made 13 days out or later, so we should hopefully start seeing room numbers tomorrow.

Has anyone had any luck hearing from SAS transportation? I've filled out their form twice in the last week and heard NADA.
