I know that we can purchase bottled water through DCL but $39 for a 24 pack is rather pricey. Besides, I'm not a fan of evian.
We will be flying into MCO the day before and staying at POR. Since we won't have a car this trip to pick up any, I'm hoping to find another solution. I've looked at a couple of crocery delivery services but their minimum delivery charege would be more than the DCL price. So I was hoping that the soda machines dispence water?

Yes, just be sure to use a fresh paper cup each time.

Seltzer is also available at some of the machines and is free in the MDRs.

naivE is Evian backwards. Bottled water is just tap water from somewhere else!!

After getting back from a long hot day on our Med cruise, I'd take a refillable water bottle with a wide opening up onto the deck, fill it to the top with ice and then fill with water. Take back down to the stateroom and toss it back. Once you've got that, you can continue to refill from the bathroom tap as it's the same water source but never cold enough. Sometimes, I'd just put the incredibly cold water bottle on my neck for a few minutes. Heaven!

When we were in Switzerland last year, we took a ferry to Evian, France, where Evian water flows freely from the public fountains.

I don't know about the US, but in Canada, bottled water is not subject to the same drinking water regulations as tap water is with respect to contamination, sodium and other constituents, and filtering unless it has recently changed. In many places, tap water is of significantly higher quality than bottled water because of municipal, provincial and federal regulations for water quality. Bottled water is more convenient but don't assume that it is necessarily better for you - depends on the bottler. Taste is also a particularly individual metric; what tastes good for someone may taste awful to another depending on what they are used to.

Where I live we are used to a fairly high mineral content so there is actually some "flavour" to it. Where my parents used to live, I found their water tasted like it was filtered through algae (and that some made it into the water). Totally gross to me but they couldn't understand my problem because they were so used to it that they couldn't taste it.

I find most bottled water that is filtered to taste bland and dusty (can't really describe it any better). All depends on what you expect. The water on board is at least as clean and healthy as regular standard bottled water produced by large commercial water bottlers.

That is true in the US as well. Tap water is subject to strict regulations. Now some of the tap water in the US doesn't taste very good. I was in Las Vegas recently and it was lousy. I am lucky to live in Seattle where the water all comes from mountain streams and tastes great.

We drank the water on the ship and it tasted fine. It is much easier than carrying water bottles.

The water on the ships is just as pure as bottled drinking water is.

I think the water available on-board tastes great!

This cruise, DH, DD and I will each be bringing our own insulated cups onboard. Per the suggestions on another thread, we'll also be bringing along a cup holder from BK or McD. We'll send DD with our cups up to the refill station, fill the cups with ice, use the DCL disposable cup to fill our cups with water or pop, then use our handy-dandy drink carrier to carry them back down to our room. :cool1:

We think the water on board is great to drink! We always bring our own tumblers from home to take to the shows.

Not to mention that it's the same water on board that is mixed into the soda that you're drinking too

Thanks for your help. Most soda machines have water but if I hadn't asked then of course these wouldn't. We were thinking of bringing our own insulated mugs or water bottles with us. I very seldom drink anything but water.

I didn't pay that much attention, but usually there is a lever on the Sprite dispenser that allows for just carbonated water.
