So, we put in an offer today at about 3:00 and we haven't heard anything back yet.

This SHORT wait has me realizing that we will have a lot of waiting ahead of us if this offer is accepted! I better get used to it, huh?

Sorry to say, but this is just the beginning. You'll wait to hear back on your offer. Then you'll wait for contracts. Then you'll really wait for ROFR. Then you'll wait for estoppels. Then you'll wait for closing. Then you'll wait for Disney to load your membership and points. Then you'll wait for your online access. Train yourself to be patient now or this will be a very unpleasant experience for you.

Hmmmm...come to think of it, I'm starting to see why some people choose to buy direct. :ssst:

When you buy direct you wait for the paperwork.
Then you wait for your membership number.
Then you wait for the deed papers.
Then you wait for the 10 day rescission period.
Then you wait for online access.

Yep only difference is no ROFR!

You guys are getting depressing. But I can play the game:

After you wait for your membership, you wait for
    the eleven month window,
    the seven month window
    180 days for ADRs
    a week off of work
    affordable airfare
    check in time at 4pm
and finally you wait in lines to go on the rides you love.

But in the end, it's the happiest place on Earth and we are all so fortunate to be able to enjoy this membership. So many people can not and can't even afford to go to one of the parks for one day. So it will be well worth the wait.........

At this point I really think you should check the accuracy of your posts before you hit "submit". Some of the things you are saying on these boards are patently false.

:) Sorry, didn't mean to depress anyone. Just trying to help the OP prepare for the process that is resale. I've done it twice and am currently at ROFR, so I know what it's like. Just trying to elaborate on what to expect a bit. Does it help if I say that I'm really happy with my resale contracts?

    OP here...

I am assuming that we will hear about our offer today...I was prepared for the process to take about 8 weeks (is that right?) just didn't anticipate not hearing a counter-offer or if it was accepted for a day.

I am sure this is just an example of...I should always be prepared that things might take a little longer than anticipated.

Slightly off topic...the contract we made an offer on has points that we would need to bank by (I think) July 1. I am hoping that if all goes well with this deal, that would give us enough time. BUT, what happens if you need to bank points and the deal is not done yet? Can the current owner bank for you?
    thx

This was my experience too. I can't remember exactly but I think I made my first reservation with my new points later the same day of the purchase. Later I received all the paperwork to sign but by then I'd already made my reservation.

I've made a few offers lately. I just want to warn you that on a few, I didn't hear back at all. Was told the offer would be presented that day, then nothing.

On the offer we finally had accepted, we asked to have the points banked. The sellers did.

Thanks for the info. Just checking in with the resale company and was told they presented the offer and that they will think about it and let us know at some point tomorrow. Seems strangee since it was a full price offer. I am already not loving the communication from this place (not sure if I can say where) since I had to get back in touch with them.

Surprising to me that you did not hear back at all on some of them!

Now that I think about it, it was one offer I never heard back on, not a few. I found out I didn't get it when it went to sale pending. Another I was told the sellers had already turned down a higher offer so I was basically wasting my time unless I offered asking price. I'm pretty sure those were both the same resale company.

Another it took almost a week to hear back so at that point I assumed my offer wasn't accepted. I understand that could have been the sellers being slow to respond. Other communication I've had with that company has been faster.

You suggested that buying direct also has a lot of waiting, just not for ROFR. But if you read the boards here, many, many owners talk about signing their contracts and making reservations the very next day. In fact, the lack of waiting is one of the primary benefits of buying direct.

So there is actually no comparison between direct and resale when it comes to wait times. That's what you got wrong.

Well, just when I was acting so impatient, I just found out that our offer was accepted

    We are thrilled!!!!!:cool1::banana::cool1:

    YAHOO!!!

I think I will be able to handle the waiting ok from here on out. I really am a very patient person (typically!). But, we shall see;)

I said nothing about making reservations. I said there is still wait times for direct.

When you buy direct there is an offer, it is when you try and get the points you want in the use year you want. If its not what they are currently offering(dec) then the guide needs to have an override for the use year. If you want 57 points and they only have contracts for 50 and 60 then you have to decide which one you want.

You still have to send in your deposit (or use credit card)
You still have to sign the papers. Disney doesn't do fax on paperwork.
You still have 10 days to decide to back out. Disney will not process anything until then.
You still have to wait for your membership paperwork to come in.
And you will not have access to the website for a few days after you get your membership card in the mail.

Now again, Where am I wrong?

If you do not plan on using the current points in this UY then you should ask the seller to bank them now. That way it's done and you don't have to sweat it and the point balances will be correct when sent to ROFR.

Congrats! When you get the paperwork, ask if they can be fax or emailed back when it's not mentioned. I just got a voicemail from the company asking when I'd fax or email it back, a day after I mailed the paper copies! :sad2: Could have shaved off a few days of waiting.

On one of my resale contracts it took over 3 months from offer to getting the points in the system because it was an estate sale with the selling agent in Europe. Was that a long wait...:confused3

Nice! I put an offer the same day as you and still haven't heard from anyone. I take that as a good sign, though, since I offered very low. If they scoffed at it, I'd have heard so the same day. So either they're working numbers and considering it, or seeing if anything better comes in soon -- which still means it's in the running.
