Hello! I just got back from a great trip to Oahu, where I got a really in-depth look at lots of activities and places there, and a wonderful stop at Aulani to just "soak in the Disney." I hope to be sharing some tips for those heading to the Islands, and I'll be sharing lots of pics!

I'm still a little jet-lagged, but I have started downloading pics, and I hope to get this party started! We stayed on THE Pearl Harbor, and got some great looks back at history - so with that said,

Saw the title and had to pop over. We're going to Oahu next month ourselves so... well, there you go. Did you stay at Aulani or just visit?

Since I won't get to Hawaii until my kids are grown and out the house I'd love to live through you for this vacation. :beach:

I'm looking forward to your trip report and photos! I just returned from visiting my daughter, who lives in Waikiki. During the 2 weeks, we did visit and eat at Aulani (A'MA A'MA) twice. The resort was beautiful and the service was outstanding. It's a real plus for the locals and the island's economy. The room rates were expensive for me, but the guests there sure looked very happy!

Yay! Glennbo our Savannah tour guide is here! Welcome!

Hi Cynthia! So happy you're here!:yay:

Ellen! I thought of you when we were at Aulani! You are SO going to love it!!!! :cloud9: Before I forget, we did the Paradise Cove luau right next door to Aulani - well worth it - loads of fun!

Welcome! Thanks for being here! I feel like we really saw the whole island and had alot of fun, even with all the crazy weather we had!

Welcome! :cheer2: I saw Turtle Bay when we went up to North Shore - looks really nice, and a great location!! Do you surf?

Yay! Come on along - so glad you're here! :cool1: I have been known to label my DH "Grumpy" too on a few TRs! :rotfl2: Hawaii was on my bucket list, and I didn't see this coming until a few months ago, so you never know! In the mean time, I hope you enjoy the journey witih me!

Welcome! Thanks so much for being here! I would love your input too! Are you doing a TR? I'm very excited to have Aulani there - trying to figure out when we can stay there on DVC points! :woohoo:

Marv! Now the fun can start!:yay: Oh, there are grass skirts, allright - quite a story! :rotfl2:

Welcome! :cheer2: Thanks for joining in!

Thanks everyone for being here! I am going to try to make some chapter links on the first page this time - bear with me - this tech stuff gets the better of me sometimes. It took me about 15 tries to get the link in my siggie right! :rotfl2:

Thanks for coming along on this journey! I enjoy writing a TR, because I get to re-live the memories, and it's fun to have DISfriends along for the ride! :grouphug:

Since there are a few new faces here, let me introduce our group.

    1. Jim, my DH - almost 50, wonderful husband and father and papa to our 4 grandchildren. He's in the Air National Guard, which is why this trip came to be at this time. His job is to coordinate all the maintenance and flying of the fighter jets here. He introduced me to Disney, and we love to visit DLR, WDW and cruise with DCL. We own DVC and feel it's the best thing we've ever done - well, except our two boys, 28 and almost 27.

    2. Tammie, (that's me) - I love to travel and I love anything Disney - I guess I was Disney deprived as a child, and I'll never grow up now! :goodvibes
    [IMG]

    3. Michelle, another wife who I really just got to know during the planning stages, but we were touring partners and became good friends - and we found we had alot in common!

    4. Wayne, Michelle's DH - serves in the Guard with Jim, and does the same job on the night shift usually. He was pretty busy because he was in charge of this project on day shift this time, and Jim was his back up - kind of a trainer.

    5. Jesse, their 16 yr old son. Very nice boy and very happy to be out of school for an extra week outside of Spring Break!

Now that you know our crew, let me explain how this trip came to be. The base here is a training base - their mission is to train fighter pilots. We get to see some pretty cool air shows at times, just because we happen to be in the neighborhood! :thumbsup2 So once in a while, the boys (you remember "Playing with the Boys"?) get together with other boys from another base somewhere and play training games - you know, Top Gun type stuff! So the powers that be decided they should play games in Hawaii at the end of Winter, and we were on like Donkey Kong! :yay:

The men with enough rank get their own room. That's a rule. So, us girls just had to get our own plane ticket and the room was already there - who could resist such an opportunity?

Well, I will leave you with this image - the first Mai Tai of the trip is always the best, right? [IMG]

Tammie, love the introductions, I didn't know (or remember) all of it! :rotfl2:

So fun when a trip just falls into place and this one sounds like an extra special one!

Yum Mai Tai, even though I just brewed my breakfast tea!

Thanks for taking me/us along! :cloud9: Tom and I always wanted to visit Hawaii, but so far we never have made it there, so your trip is perfect for me!

What a great way to get a trip!! I call situations that come together so perfectly like that, God kisses. :lovestruc

I feel like it's His way of reminding us we're His favorite. We're ALLLLL His favorite!!

I can't wait to hear more!! :yay: And yes, that drink looks amazing!! I thought those drinks had pineapple juice in it (it looks to clear to have pineapple juice in it)? :confused3

It looks really good :goodvibes, how was it?
