Does any one know if Verizon has any included coverage for St. Thomas / USVI?

Verizon does have coverage on STT but you need to check your own cell plan to see if it is included. Typically basic VZ plans do not include STT, whereas basic AT&T plans do.

This is talked about quite a bit on the cruise critic boards. Verizon provides this helpful trip planner

When I put in St. Thomas and my iphone 5, it gives the following:
•Voice Rate - Standard: $1.99 per minute
•Text Messages sent or received while in Canada, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands are billed as though you were in the U.S.
•Any data usage in Puerto Rico or the U.S. Virgin Islands is considered domestic and will deduct from domestic allowances when available or would be billed at domestic overage/pay per use rates. See your current data plan or feature for details.

They have a cruise ship plan too that is tempting but I'd rather put the phones away on the ship and just turn them on at St. Thomas to post to FB, check messages, etc.

When I was on the Fantasy last June doing the eastern Caribbean cruise, I purchased the 'global data package' from Verizon with my iPhone 5. When talking with the Verizon reps when adding it to my plan, they said that it would work on the ship when the 'cellular at sea' system was turned on and at St. Maarten and St. Thomas.

Well on the ship when not in port, I was able to send and receive text massages, get phone calls but no data would work. When in ports, the data worked as well as the others.

The nice thing with Verizon is every time you roam and get onto a new network, they will send you a free text message explaining the text, voice, and data rates. However, you need to turn you cellular services to do that (you can leave your data off) so if you have any text messages waiting to come in, they will and you get billed at that rate.

My parents have TMobile and in St. Thomas they were able to user their phones just like they've were at home in Ohio. No extra charges or anything. I am not sure about Verizon as I had the Global Data Plan.

Hope that helps.

I just called today for my cruise this Saturday!
The lady at Verizon told me that on St Thomas it is $1.99 a minute for talk and data/internet and texting is all included in my plan with no extra charges and I def do not have any global plans!
