sigh. you missed my point.
I'm not arguing for pool hopping. I'm wondering what the difference would be between those RENTING " points and those who did NOT compenstae the member for the points .
not necessarily for pool hopping, but.. anything. what's the difference? and, if none, what dif. does it make if the member is Supposed to inform member services that they were compensated for their points.?
All the documentation says that a member gets when they purchase (the Public Offering Statement) is the guests (non-compensated stay) may be entitled to some DVC perks. It doesn't say which perks (because perks are not itemized in this document - they change all the time). It does say, the guest may need the member blue card to obtain these perks.
So if you are a truly a guest of the member (no compensation paid to the member), you could try to get the perks, but they still may say no.

From what I know is you need to call both resorts and ask how crowded their pools are going to be, since they will want to save any space for guests staying at those resorts.Just making sure I understand this and do not break any rules. We are DVC members using our points to stay at BCV next week and had planned on using the pools at the Polynesian and Contemporary on nights that we have dinner reservations to fill the gap between dinner and watching the fireworks over at MK. I understand I cannot "pool hop" at BLT but is using the pools at the resorts allowed?

However a few months ago the Polynesian started giving wristbands to guests staying there so they can get rid of illegal pool hoppers and because their whole volcano pool area is not that big, so I am not sure how that effects DVC members who want to pool hopp over there.
To 1 Minnie & 3 Mickeys: Here is some pool hopping info from the DVC site:
Pool Hopping Information
When staying on your Membership at Disney's Vero Beach Resort or any DVC Resort at the Walt Disney World Resort, you and any Guests staying with you are permitted to use most of the other Disney Vacation Club and Walt Disney World Resort hotel pools (in addition to the pool at the resort hotel at which you are staying) if they are not at capacity. If the pool you are visiting reaches capacity, you may be asked to leave in order to accommodate Guests of that resort hotel. Please check with a host or hostess at the front desk of the resort you wish to visit before you go to find out about pool-access availability. You must present your current Key to the World card with your "DVC Member" designation on it to use the other resort hotel pools.
Pool hopping is not available at Bay Cove Pool at Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort, Uzima Pool and Samawati Springs Pool at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, Stormalong Bay at Disney's Yacht & Beach Club Resorts, and the leisure pool at Disney's Beach Club Villas. There are no exceptions to this policy. As a reminder, during times of high occupancy, please be mindful of the limited number of pool chairs available, and refrain from leaving towels or personal items on unoccupied pool chairs.
Resort hotel pools may become unavailable from time to time due to capacity limitations. Due to the high occupancy that is expected, Disney Vacation Club Members and any Guests staying with them may not pool hop during the following dates*:
February 20-26 (Sun Sat)
April 16 April 30 (Sat Sat)
May 27 30 (Fri Mon)
June 26 July 5 (Sun Tue)
September 2 5 (Fri Mon)
November 21 27 (Mon Sun)
Dec 11, 2011 Jan 1, 2012 (Sun Sun)
*Other restricted dates may be added based on projected pool capacity

This makes sense but how great it would be to try other resorts pools esp for the kids
For those with upcoming stays at the Boardwalk Inn or Villas thought you should know on Saturday and Sunday the Lifeguards at the Luna Park Pool are now asking to see everyone's valid Key To The World Cards because everyone is getting wristbands on those specifc days. We asked what was the reason and they said Orlando locals were illegally swimming there and they didn't have any pool chairs left for registered guests staying at the Inn and Villas.
