The stores in Twin Cities metro MN now carry hundreds of cards per store. They are at the check outs now. I like save money so much, I paid for the whole cost of my 3 day Walt Disney suite and pre paid tips vis CG's.

A check for the credit card? I didn't have to do that.

I did...I just signed up Friday. They scanned it into the register to get the checking account info. If you're talking about the CREDIT card, probably not. You do for the debit card.

A check is only required if you're signing up for the debit card. Credit card...not required. :thumbsup2

There are two different red cards... A credit card on and a debit card one... The debit card one requires a check

The pharmacy program isn't valid in NJ & couple other states.
I work in Philly. I wonder if I can get them filled there?
Probably not. I'm guessing it's based on the home address.

Hi everyone I work for Target. The target debit does require a "history" of purchases. As you "build" up your history, the amount of your purchases will increase.
For example, when you first sign up, the amount you can purchase is low usually around 100.00 or so.
Remember, the debit card is linked to your checking account. Target wants to establish a history with you before you can debit large amounts.

Any target team members out there????
Remember, if there are any target team members out there... You get your 10% target team member discount plus another 5% off if you use your target debit card or target visa.
I'm buying disney gift cards and getting them for 15% off..

On the bright side. 5% is a good saving, too.

One of my close friends works at Target and has a Red Card, so for our last Disneyland trip we got about 24 ($50) gift cards, and everything worked out great! Our party of four was able to save about $180 this way!

FWIW: I have the Target Red Card as well, but I use coupons for the weekly ads that offer Target gift cards for the purchases, then save them and buy Disney cards with them...saving the coupon amount and the 5%! I got $400 worth free this way. Works for me.;)

You do not get the 5% off if you pay with a Target gift card, since you're not charging that amount. You also don't get the 5% off of the item that comes with a gift card for the amount of the gift card. For example, I bought 4 x $50 gift cards with the $10 gift card offer from Target. My cost with the 5% discount would have been $190, but it was actually $192 because of the 4 x $10 cards I received as a bonus, so no 5% off the $40, or $2.

I love Target, I really do, but I hate the Target credit policies. I applied for my Target card just after I'd moved and gotten a new job (new address, new job, high balances on other cards are all negatives for credit). Target set my credit limit at $1000, which was fair and was all I needed at the time. Also, there wasn't a Target close to my new home so I rarely went. Now I've moved again, and when I asked Target to up my credit limit they said no. Not because I don't have excellent credit, but because they don't take requests from the cardholder to increase the limit! Ever. The guy told me that if they think I need a higher limit, they will increase it but I can't ask. And, by the way he said, you don't come close to the limit very often so you don't need a higher limit. Wrong, I said. I don't come close to the limit because that's a negative on your credit score so I like to stay below 30% of the limit. I also pay it off every month so they aren't making any money on me. When I wanted 2 iPads this Christmas, I had to buy one, go home, wait 2 days for the charge to post, pay it online, wait one day for the payment to process and go buy the second one. I'm only going to do that for really good deals.

I would think that the debit card limits are set in the same way, and it will take a long time for the Target credit people to decide you need a bigger credit limit.

I've worked in consumer credit for years, and Target's policy is the worst I've ever seen. But I'll take the stinking 5%.

Do you get the 5% off by using either for the GC purchase? Seems like the credit card would be the way to go without needing to "build" a credit history. We're leaving for Disney on Friday and was wondering if I could get the CC and save a few $'s on some gift cards before we left.

I had intended to buy Gift Cards at Target and use them to pay for our Annual Passes. However, when I called WDW to check to see if I could do this, they said that they could only accept 2 forms of payment and since the Gift Cards are $50, it means one Gift Card and then a credit card for the balance.

However, the woman on the phone suggested that I take the Gift Cards to a Disney Store and purchase a larger Gift Card and then use that card.

Anybody else have any experience with this?
