Last month on our trip we twice received a 10% DVC discount when I was not expecting it. Technically these are listed in the "fine print", but it was still nice to receive these discounts without even asking just because our room cards said "DVC member".
(1) When our son took the Albatross Pirate Cruise from the Yacht Club Marina, we were given a 10% discount. DVC members get a 10% discount on "all activities" listed under water recreation, which effectively means anything you do at a marina. In the past we have received discounts for surrey bikes at the Polynesian and bike rental at Wilderness Lodge as those are rented at the respective marinas.
(2) We got a 10% DVC discount when we ordered a pizza from FoodQuest in DisneyQuest. Since we didn't use the DVC discount on the admission (one can do much better on DQ admission), I never read the part that said we get a discount on food as well.
