Uber from Tampa Airport to WDW?

Has anyone used Uber to get from the Tampa airport to WDW? If so, how much did it cost? I'm trying to weigh out the options. I'm not interested in anything that is going to add a lot of time to my travel, so I'm thinking buses and shuttles are out. My other option is renting a car for the day, though this adds the additional step of having to return it once I get to WDW.

What would you do or what have you done?
Thoughts?
Thanks!

Returning a rental at WDW is easy and quite a few options on where to return, if using Alamo/National. We have also found renting at Tampa airport pretty easy.

Thank you! I'm loving the idea of the $99 Uber! I'll actually be at an airport hotel, so I don't think it should be an issue for them to pick me up. Yay!

Uber.com estimates fare at $66-88 for UberX (basic 5-seater car.)

The problem is getting a Uber driver to take the fare. I think that's when they came up with Uber Highway that pays a little better. The drivers don't want to get stuck that far from home with no return fare.

Yeah, but I don't think that experiment lasted. It doesn't come up on the fare estimate page on uber.com, nor on the app, when setting pick-up to Tampa Intl. and destination to MK. The article you cited is from 2014, and a Google search finds nothing after 2014. A posting on an independent Uber driver's forum seems to indicate it was discontinued on 12/31/14.

RideShareRob says lots of drivers will take riders from WDW to Tampa, so maybe it's also true the other way. Probably a good idea to text the driver and ask as soon as it's accepted, as drivers have no visibility into the ride's destination until after they pick up. It's a shame that Uber does not help drivers find a return trip to make it more worthwhile.

Frankly, I think a one-way one-day rental is a safer bet.
