We are taking our first vacation to WDW first week of June with another family (9 total). I was wanting to do one character breakfast (Mickey/Minnie) with the kids but waited too long to make reservation as I'm new to all of this & dont really know what I'm doing! Anyways I called this week & our first choice Chef Mickey was booked. So I went with Tusker House. Anyone have any reviews/experiences with this restaurant? The only time I could get was 10:50 also. I'm going to try to keep checking & find an earlier time but I have that for now. Any suggestions or help would be appreciated!! Thanks again!!

From what I hear about Tusker House, never mind the characters, it is one of the best buffet breakfasts on property. If it didn't have characters I'd think about trying it.

Tusker House is so good. The food was great and the character interaction was great. My kids loved marching in the parade with the characters!

Chef Mickey was always a must do for our family. Last summer we all agreed we would never go back.

Our Ratings of Tusker House Buffet (Breakfast / Lunch): (rev 2/17/2013)
    . . . food price value: B / B
    . . . food quality: B / B
    . . . food quantity per serving: A / A
    . . . food prep speed: A / A
    . . . food selection: C / B
    . . . seating quantity: B / B
    . . . seating comfort: C / C
    . . . eatery atmosphere: C / C
    . . . eatery convenience: B / B
    . . . staff friendliness: B / B
    . . . staff attentiveness: C / B
    . . . character interaction: B / B

NOTE: The buffets are reasonably priced for a Disney park eatery.
Although the selection could be more varied, there are menu items
for most tastes. Although highly Americanized, the dishes do have
an African flair. Breakfast is usually very crowded (up to 1100 people
served), and ADR's are highly recommended. There are four-to-five
really good vegetarian options on the buffet. Character interaction is
probably the best of any character meal, as they spend an awful lot
of time with the guests. Lunch has tastes for both the pickiest and
adventurous eaters. Safari Donald is available for pictures (but, he
signs no autographs) before you enter; plus, this is the only place in
AK you can see Daisy. Be prepared for a loud environment,
PS - At breakfast, make sure you drink The Jungle Juice !

NOTE2: They no longer offer Nemo reserved seating if you eat there
for lunch. With the lunch characters, they are so crowded that they
do not need the Nemo inducement.

NOTE3: shhhhh. Top Secret. OK, maybe not so much. If you have an ADR
for up to 9:20am, you can get admitted through the Main Gate as early as
7:45am, and be seated at Tusker quickly. If you are Japanese, you can have
an ADR as late as 10:00am and get in as early as 7:45am.

I was looking at the times for breakfast & lunch on the Disney reservation website & noticed the times were really close together. So I was wondering how that worked. So we will be able to eat breakfast & lunch??

That is what many people have experienced. And I'm counting on it too, in October. :) When you are seated they have breakfast stuff out, and then they *also* start bringing the lunch stuff to the buffet areas.

I'll have done the TOT 10-miler the night before, and I'm planning on being hungry. :)

Tusker house was the best character breakfast i have ever had in the walt disney world resort. The food is great, characters are great and they interact very well with kids. Donald stays outside to take pictures that you can purchase and daisy, Minnie, mickey, goofy, and Pluto wander around in safari gear signing autographs and interacting with kids. They have a big breakfast buffet with a ton to choose from. Even our server was great and she was from our home state it was just great. You will have a very fun time.

Don't be disappointed with getting a TH reservation, you have lucked out! One of the best breakfast buffets that I have been to onsite, neat character outfits instead of the traditional ones, and its alot quieter than CM. An ADR that late would allow you to hit some attractions first I (Kil. Safari is very close) and then go enjoy a nice meal. And I think you will benefit from the time because they will be switching over to the lunch foods, so you get the best of both worlds.
And as I always post when talking about TH ....KRISPY KREME donuts :cool1:

We were just there last Tuesday. We have a breakfast there every time we go. Would not miss it for anything. The best buffet and the characters are great. My daughter celebrates her birthday there every year. They spend a few more extra minutes with her. :lovestruc
