Transportation when booking your own excursions? (in Nassau)

My DS (age 9) wants to swim with the dolphins so badly. I don't mind booking this on my own, but I'm a little nervous about how we'll get there. The website says that we catch a ferry at the Paradise Island Ferry terminal. In my Passporter, the Paradise Island Ferry terminal is definitely not a quick walk from where the Wonder docks in Nassau. How do we get over there? Are taxis reliable? How much should we expect to pay?

Also, the website says that the company's ferry leaves at 10:30. Will we be able to make that ferry, or should we plan for a later one? I think the next one is at 1:30. I don't want to have to rush around not knowing where we're going, but if it's easy to get around and we'll be off the ship easily be then, I'd love to go early.

Thanks for your advice.

Julie
