Transportation Question

My wife and I will be staying at the AS Movies during the convention. What would be the best way to get to the Y&BC resorts for the convention events? Will Disney Transportation get me there for breakfast? Or would a rental car be easier?

Anyone want to pitch in for a van? ;)

I was just thinking (a dangerous thing I know!) about this and wanted your opinions.

Ah, just 219 days to go, folks. :D

I'm here everyday, too! You never know what might pop up while I'm away! ;) I'm staying at the YC/BC, so I can't help with the transportation problem, either, sorry. Hey, but don't stop thinking, you might come up with some great ideas! :D∑

Sorry Scott to go 'off topic' here, but I just have to ask Barb.....why is there some sort of character at the end of almost all of your posts? Do you do this on purpose , or are the Gremlins messing with us again :D ?

Imagine if we all rode on emus into WDW parking. How much would parking be then? :)

Too funny, Tia! They're always there. I have no idea where they come from or why. Must be those gremlins! ;) But, I've come to accept them. I'm on a Mac, so I don't know if that has something to do with it or not. I never know what little "squiggly" will show up. It's always interesting! :D

Okay, assuming all the Emus go to the "turkey" leg vendors, I'm still stuck at AS Movies.

Most, of not all, of the buses in the AM will be going to parks. So, do we take a bus to Epcot and then board the B&YC bus back to the resort for morning events? Hope the breakfasts aren't too early in the morning!!

Those staying at Epcot resorts will either be able to walk or take a launch.

I believe from what I have heard, we can take a Disney bus to Downtown Disney and catch a launch to the resort from there. OR we could co to the TTC and catch a bus to the resort. Now that I think of it, we're going to be loosing a lot of time commuting aren't we? I haven't heard that the Character B was going to be at that resort. I don't know if that info has been re;leased yet. I'll be watching this thread too and see if you get any more answers and direction. Since there will be several of us staying at ASM, perhaps Linda or someone can give us some direction on how to transpoert from ASM to each of the venues. Gerri

Since we'll be attending a "convention", perhaps, Linda could arrange for a "chartered convention bus" to transport people to (and maybe from) the BIG convention venues. ??? Just an idea. :)

My suggestion to those of you staying on-property, especially with children: rent a car. The signage around the property is very informative and you should have little problems getting around. If you need to be somewhere at a certain time (PS for example), you wouldn't want to be waiting on a bus. They run every 20-30 minutes, not to mention the time it takes to get to the next point. Most of the time, it's not a direct route, either. We rode WDW transportation a few times (we're local, but we usually drive everywhere on property), and we decided to take the bus from TTC to Epcot. It ended up being almost an hour and a half ride, via the back roads to Downtown Disney, then to Epcot.
Just my suggestion. I've been going to WDW for nearly 30 years now :-)

Or, better yet, lime green streamers off the back?

The more I think about it, a car would be better. It would only take 10 or 15 minutes to drive from AS Movies to Y&BC. While a bus would take close to an hour. And, yes, I'm assuming the Y&BC being convention central will be hosting the breakfasts mentioned. For any park events, I would use Disney Transportation.

Well, with 217 days to go, I think (?) I have time to figure it out. :D

Although I think the bus idea would be nice...I must admit that I am leaning towards the EMUs or a rental car...not sure which yet. :D

EMU's with Lime Green streamers on their tails (do Emu's have tails??? ), and Lime Green lanyards hanging around their scrawny little necks. :D :D :D And of course, to keep your Emu's happy, you'd have to have plenty of corn!!! :D

The rental car sounds way too practical...not to mention boring!!! ;)

Scott, I'm renting a car and staying at OKW. I can swing by AS for you guys and we can head over to YC together.

I will be at the Y&B but will have a full-size rental car available to transport people to and from the parks, events, etc.

It's a shame that transportation from resort to resort is so hard. I wouldn't rely on using DTD (Marketplace) as a hub to get anywhere! It takes forever and then you have to stop at Pleasure Island, Disney's West Side and possibly Typoon Lagoon. If it's at all possible, I would use one of the parks to transfer from resort to resort. I know this still isn't much of a help, but I thought I would share my thoughts. :D

Hi!

You are on your own as far as getting to/from most events with the exception of the TOT, we will have buses to take you back to the hotels as the park will be long closed after that event. The cost of renting special buses for all the events would just be too costly - we're not that big of a convention yet... that we can absorb that kind of thing.

The park events are easy to get to, I would head to MGM and take the boat over to the other events, or head to Epcot and walk over (but that is a walk!) or go to Downtown Disney and take a resort bus over.
