    Hi there,

I am cruising on the EBTA and was wondering do I have to pay tax on cruise purchases if I buy onboard whilst under way either leaving Galveston or ? I have been on other TA's however I wasn't paying attention.

Hello Steve, fancy seeing your post here :)

I am not 100% sure, but purchases made onboard are Duty Free and therefore I believe are subject to standard Duty Free limits, which are limits coming into the country rather than from where you purchased, with the exception of purchases made in the EU and I am sure this won't be the case with your DCL purchases onboard.

According to the HMRC site you have the usual fags and booze allowance and then "You can bring in other goods worth up to £390 without having to pay tax and/or duty"

It makes reference to being in transit through an EU country which I guess we will be arriving into Spain first?

Just my view - HMRC site is here:
