We purchased today a VWL!!!
The VWL are full in May already, but we have a week scheduled at OKW in May. Which building is the best building at OKW?

We would like to split our week between OKW and either of the other two--when is the best time to call and hope for a cancellation? We need a studio.

Thanks for all the help on the boards!!! It really made a difference in our decision.

We can't believe we own a piece of the magic!!

hi: welcome home! talk to your guide and see if they can work a little magic for you. as more of vwl is sold, maybe a studio will open up. have your guide check with ms; they seem to have a little more pull than us regular folk. you could also see if you can get on the waiting lists for a studio.

Welcome Home!

We liked the Pennisular area best for convenience of catching buses and the Hospitality House. Pennisular is the first stop for buses and if you miss that bus you can take a short walk to the Hospitality House to catch it before it leaves the resort. Turtle Pond area was wonderful, too for peace and quiet. Millers Road area had a beautiful view of the golf course from our porch and PI at night.(Oh, heck anywhere is great as long as I am at OKW and not in Arizona!!!!!)

Welcome Home.

We like South Point. It is in the back of the resort and very quiet. In addition, it is the 2nd bus stop and we can usually get a seat.

Welcome home!! we just bought VWL last weekend and our guide worked a little magic getting us a 2 bedroom at OKW when MS told me there wasn't any available. It's worth a try.

Welcome Home! We used to like any of the buildings at Millers Road, but our new favorite is Southpoint area for the same reasons Robin stated. Also, that is close to the walkway to DD. :)

Welcome home!!! :) Our guide worked some magic for us too, so I am also going to suggest giving him/her a call to see what they can do :)

You'll never regret it. One of the best things we have ever done. Our only regret is that we wish we had more points. We have 210 at Boardwalk.

I find it amazing that NEW purchasers CAN'T get a reservation at their home resort when they just bought, so they book OKW, or is it because the points are so much less, and now the OKW owners who don't book at the 11 month window are going to have to pay more points for a stay, I just find it very suspicious that the inventory didn't open up more as they bought.ö

The point costs at OKW will remain the same- no matter when owners make their reservation. Since May reservations are within 4 months, it would seem to me that OKW owners have had plenty of opportunity to make reservations at their home resort.
The DVC inventory is increased in advance of sales- so if there is no availability now, it is because the resort has exhausted the DVC inventory. May has been available for DVC reservations since Nov and non-home owners have had first chance at those reservations already.

I would suggest that new VWL owners ask their DVC guides to assist with those tough to find 1st reservations, but even then- some dates may be difficult to find. Enjoy!

The point I was trying to get acros is the fact as more DVC sites are built on site they are becoming more expensive in point costs per night, so the new owners are rushing to book @ OKW because the huge lower point cost per night or there is apparently no inventory yet released for these new members so they are booking OKW.

I don't have any desire to stay at the other DVC sites, and if they build anymore offsite DVC resorts, it's really gonna create a problem in my opinion.

Of course normr.

What I find hard to believe is people looking at DVC and saying that they wished more off site resorts would be built...I am glad the failures at VB and HH have soured them on any further off site resorts.

Creeping socialism was seen hundreds of years ago when James Madison said: "I believe there are more instances of the abridgement of the freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments of those in power than by violent and sudden usurpations."
