I don't even know why I am posting this thread. I have read a couple other threads about Tony's. It seems that the verdict is either you hate it or it's acceptable.

We were looking for a table service lunch on our last day. I thought about Crystal Palace but we are doing Chef Mickey's earlier in the week and I don't really feel like another big character meal. I also thought about LTT but we are doing a few other "meat and potatoes" type meals and the idea of an Italian meal just appeals to me. But I don't want to ruin our last day at WDW with a bad meal!

    Thoughts?

Even if you had said, "Chef Boy-ar-dee is my favorite meal ever," I could not recommend Tony's to anyone. Are you determined to stay in the parks? If not, you might consider having lunch at the Wave (or its wonderful lounge) at the Contemporary. They have lighter options and I think their lunch menu has improved vastly since they first opened. If you would prefer a table service meal that is inside the Magic Kingdom, the only one I would recommend is the Plaza.

I like the atmosphere and the location of Tony's, but honestly, the food there isn't great. It's not awful though, just ok. I prefer the food at the Plaza but that's more sandwiches and stuff and not really what you're looking for. Go ahead and keep your ressie for Tony's and make your own opinion.

It is tradition for our family to eat at Tony's for the first dinner on our trip. That being said, the food and service is hit and miss. We have had some of our best meals at Tony's and some of our worst. We tend to get the steak so I don't know how the Italian dishes are. We love the atmosphere with the Lady and the Tramp motif. We are going back to Disney in a few weeks and we will once again be eating at Tony's. For us, it is a must to eat dinner in the Magic Kingdom on our first night. It signals the beginning of our vacation. We will also be eating at CRT and Crystal Palace later in our trip but Tony's is our traditional first dinner. We are willing to "take a chance" on the food because the restaurant itself is meaningful to us. I wish that I could tell you definitively yes or no on dining atTony's on your last night but it is one of those places that you just never know.:confused3

Thanks for the replies. We want to stay at MK as we will be checking out that day and won't arrive until around 11 and have to leave by 5 to catch our flight.

While the Plaza looks good, just not feeling the sandwich meal for that day. I will say that for the most part none of us are huge complainers when it comes to restaurants. It would have to be really bad for us to complain. So, I guess Chef Boyardee it is! We come back enough that we will just know not to go there again if it is that bad!

    Our family really liked Tony's.

We had a flatbread, the shrimp scampi and DS had the spaghetti and meatball in honor of Lady and the Tramp.

It was a 1000 times better than our meal at Liberty Tree Tavern that night.

We went in with low expectations but we enjoyed it. The space is charming, the staff was engaged and it was great midday break.

I think the dinner menu looks more appealing than the lunch menu but we haven't managed to get there at dinner yet.

Our family really likes Tony's! We love making it a tradition to go there for dinner for while we are at Disney. My husband and I always gets the Steak and my daughter normally gets a pizza or spaghetti. We have always had good food there but I think it's like every other restaurant there it's a hit or miss on how good the food is.

We at at Tony's and I'd say it was perfectly fine, but not particularly memorable. Like, it doesn't stand out as a particularly good or bad meal. I feel no need to rush back, but would absolutely eat there again if it worked well with our plans. I say try it and see what you think.

Agree 100% We have eaten there once and had a yummy meal and good service. We will eat there again this next trip. I agree also that we can only do so many meat and potatoes things, LTT is basically Boston Market to us.

I definately did NOT enjoy lunch at Tony's. It is on my top 3 worst TS/QS meal out of 7 trips.

But I do LOVE lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern!!!

    My thoughts . . .

Our Ratings of Liberty Town Tavern (Lunch): (8/12/2012)
    . . . food price value: C
    . . . food quality: B
    . . . food quantity per serving: C
    . . . food prep speed: B
    . . . food selection: C
    . . . seating quantity: B
    . . . seating comfort: C
    . . . eatery atmosphere: C
    . . . eatery convenience: C
    . . . staff friendliness: B
    . . . staff attentiveness: B
    . . . character interaction: n/a

NOTE: The lunch at LTT is pleasant and a nice way to spend some time
in air conditioning. The food is above average and, for WDW, priced
reasonably. Try Crab and Spinach Dip for two, the New England Pot
Roast, then the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake. There are no stellar eats
within MK for price vs food quality, but this is probably the best of the
    in-park restaurants for lunch.

Our Ratings of Tony's Town Square: (rev 9/20/2012)
    . . . food price value: C
    . . . food quality: D
    . . . food quantity per serving: C
    . . . food prep speed: B
    . . . food selection: C
    . . . seating quantity: C
    . . . seating comfort: C
    . . . eatery atmosphere: C
    . . . eatery convenience: A
    . . . staff friendliness: B
    . . . staff attentiveness: B
    . . . character interaction: n/a

NOTE: Not something to write home about. Meat dishes are
average and Italian entrées are akin to CHEF-BOY-AR-DEE; well,
using CHEF-BOY-AR-DEE could be considered an insult to that
famous Cleveland, Ohio chef. The sauce may be tomato sauce,
but it is definitely not a marinara. The appetizers are average.
In a pinch, Tony's will do, but there are far better choices. On
the plus side, the desserts are simple, but pretty good. Hard
to justify going the first time, let alone going back.

Liberty Tree Tavern......great food at lunch and quite tasty!

Tony's hit the three strikes on our trip a few years ago after basically horrible food.

Italian is not that hard to make!

We ate at Tony's this past August and we really enjoyed it. Kids had Seafood Daivolo, I had shrimp scampi, DH had steak, one other had spaghetti and meatballs, little kids had ravioli and one had grilled cheese sandwich sticks.

We all enjoyed our meals. Not a bad thing to say about it.

We also ate at LLT, which we always enjoy.

This is the crux of the issue. Any chef with a full kitchen and access to good ingredients should be able to make Italian food at least as well as I can do at home.

Tony's is one of the restaurants at MK (even all of WDW) that we avoid at all costs and would rather go to counter service. We went to Tony's once. Never again.

We like LTT much better. Plaza, too. I wish Tony's was better, and it really should be, but it's not. :confused3

We only tried Tony's once, but it was bad enough that we would never go back.
Maybe consider taking the monorail to the GF Cafe or Kona Cafe for a relaxing lunch?. Otherwise I would choose LTT, CHH or The Plaza. I think I would eat at PVH for a meatball sub before I would go back to Tony's..

I agree! Tonys is horrendous! Comparable to chef boyardee. I wouldnt recommend it to anyone. Worst pasta ever. Atmosphere is also cold and uninviting. I love the plaza thou. DELICIOUS food! They really do have the best fries! menu is simple but yummy.
