To Wish Aussies travelling Feb 2011 safe travels, bon voyage.

Hi Aussiegirls

i have been collecting coupons didn't know you could I will wait for you to post up the link as I will definatly be interested in saving a bit of money

I'm a big coupon collector when we go to the US.

There are websites where you can print up printable coupons. I just go through and find stores and restaurants that we like to shop and eat at and print them up. You can get them for all sorts of things from clothing stores to food, tours, restaurants etc.

A couple I have used in the past are...

http://www.coupondad.net/
http://printable-coupons.blogspot.com/
http://www.wow-coupons.com/printable-retail-coupons.php
www.couponcabin.com

I haven't started looking yet as many have an expiry date, I'll start printing in a few weeks.

If you sign up to some of the outlet shopping centers (prime and premium outlets) you can print up a coupon to get a coupon book when you arrive at the outlet center on the day. Also if there are certain shopping centers you will be going to, have a look on their website as they have different specials sometimes that you can print up a coupon for and get discount coupon books or a free bag etc.

I was wondering when you would be back. How exciting. Cannot wait to hear more and see pics, lots of pics please luv.

We're back!

Got home yesterday and the jetlag hit hard. I'm trying to unpack and do 6 weeks of washing today  but will hopefully get some time to update soon.

Highlights - Disneyland of course  (we were chosen as the family to open DCA one day and made Honorary Citizens of Disneyland!! ), NYC (absolutely amazing), WDW, Wizarding World of Harry Potter. I loved Washington DC and San Francisco, wish we had more time in both places. I am not a fan of Las Vegas, definitely won't rush back there in a hurry.

Will update more soon. Safe travels to everyone leaving soon, you will have an absolute ball!

Welcome back! Settle back in (quickly) and you know we're all hanging out here waiting to hear more .... and about being HC for Disneyland! Well done!

Hi all,

So these are some of the coupons that I have collected so far.

http://www.facebook.com/mimiscafe?v=app_139372682739751

That last one is from Mimi's cafe (awesome restaurant). Also if you go to their website and sign up to get their emails they will email you a voucher for a free breakfast. But only sign up a few days before you go because the vouchers are only valid for about 14 days.

I think if you sign up to get Millies emails they will also send you a voucher for a free meal. I know that if you have a kid that is having a birthday around when you are going and sign them up for the Millie's kids club they will send them a voucher for a free kids meal.

Denny's will also email you a coupon for a free breakfast on your birthday if you are having one whilst you are there.

I also have lots of coupons from Getaway Today. They used to have all their coupons available on their website but apparently too many people were using them (duh, that's what they are for ). So now they have them hidden away somewhere out there in cyberspace and I think they only give the link to people who buy an package from them. You can find them if you do an advanced Google search, but they are quite difficult to find. I can't post a link because it is a PDF, but I do have a copy stored on my computer :rolleyes1. So if anyone wants them just PM me with your email address and I will send them to you. Personally I think these ones are the best of all that I have - lots and lots of discounts

Finally there is Restaurant.com. You can buy gift certificates for very cheap. I bought a $25 gift certificate for House of Blues for $2. If you sign up to get their emails they will send you (almost on a daily basis) promo codes that you can use on their website to get discounts off the prices they have on there. If you wait about a week or so they should come up with an 80% promo code that would allow you to get a $25 gift card for $2. You can pay in USD if you have a travel card or something similar. Just one thing to be wary of, in the fine print, it says that you can't use more than one voucher in one restaurant per month. So no point getting multiples for the same restaurant.

Anyway, that's all that I can think of at the moment. Hope that helps some. If I find (or remember) any others I will definately post. Hope it saves you a few $$$$ guys.

xxx

Thanks Aussiegirls and Aussietravellers for the coupon links :cheer2:

Off to have a look :surfweb:

Do you think we should start a specific thread for coupon links? I know there is also the one on the main Disboards, but since this 'Other Land' section started, I always check in here first.

I appreciate the kind thoughts of the Disboarders!!!!!

Yes we leave next Saturday night from Perth via Brisbane to LAX. A short flight to Vegas with 7 nights at the Luxor before a few days with the in laws who live a couple of hours outside of Vegas. A 3 week roadtrip through the National Parks of the West (Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Arches, Canyonlands, Grand Tetons, Yellowstone, Glacier, North Cascades,Olympia, Mt Rainier, Crater Lake, Lassen Volcanic, Yosemite, Zion and Bryce). Upon arrival back in Vegas we fly to Orlando for 10 days at Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Our family is Me, the bloke at 43, The Boss....she's 40, and the Big Boss...well she's going to celebrate her 3rd birthday with her Grandma. The temperatures are touching an average of 43C in Vegas. The in laws home base touched 47C last weekend, and Orlando is sitting on the low 30'sC with the usual intense humidity. By the time we get there to Orlando on the 28th August, hopefully the temps may be a touch cooler, but the humidity will still be way up there.

But I wouldn't have it any other way. As we all know, the Disney holidays are magic for creating memories for ourselves and our youngsters for the years to come. As DVC members, they are our major overseas destination. We therefore limit our travel outside our US trips to allow us stateside trips every couple of years.

We are indeed fortunate and blessed. Who knows if I get my you know what together I may well try and do a trip report for the 6 weeks.....if people are interested and if I can work out how!!

GrazingGoat1966 - Now I'm really envious!! The only NP in your list that I haven't visited is Grand Tetons. If you haven't done this trip before, you're in for a great time.

There's a zigzag (dirt) road from Mexican Hat near Monument Valley into the Southern Utah National Parks. Not sure if you're planning on taking this road. It's in the middle of nowhere; but a lot of fun!!

But if you're heading into Colorado towards Grand Tetons, and you have time for a detour, try heading towards Mesa Verde....It is worth the detour.

I'd love to see pictures - I only have the film variety and keep meaning to head back....someday!

Thanks PIO!! Have done all the way up to Yellowstone before but North of there is all new territory for me. Also taking an uncle of mine who has never been to the states before, who will be my travelling companion for the roadtrip while the two bosses spend time with Grandma.
Look forward to posting some photos!!

GrazingGoat - I forgot to mention it and assumed that you will travel this way...but the Going to the Sun road into Glacier NP (from Yellowstone direction) is just spectacular. If it isn't on your travel map, I highly recommend you try this road. I'd love to see your photos from the top....

PIO, are definately traversing the Going to the Sun road at Glacier. Am actually booked into the St Mary's campgrounds right at the entrance to the road, the night before we cut across it from East to West before we head towards Washington State.

We are about 14 days away from the start of September.

:dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

For all of those travellers in September 2010, I thought I'd kick this one off earlier than normal as there are a heap of you:

  • AussieTravellers - WDW
  • DizOz - WDW
  • Loveintheland - DLR
  • Ms. Shuttergirl - WDW
  • Ozkateer - WDW
  • Kyl - WDW
  • Zaccy - DLR (Sorry to have missed you in the first pass!)
  • Shan08 - WDW (Sorry to have missed you in the first pass!)

If I've missed anyone, I apologise. PM me and I'll update the list; or post in this thread so that we can all be envious  and happy :yay: for you at the same time.

And with so many of you going, at least ONE of you (if not more) should come back with food porn for F&W!

princess::upsidedow

PrincessInOz, you are so sweet. Thank you so much for being so thoughtful and organanizing farewells for all on everyone's behalf. Its nice to be "looked after".

Bon voyage to all you lucky ducks leaving in September! Safe travels and have a fabulous time.

Thanks PrincessinOz. We are at 36 sleeps and everyone is so excited. And since I have been pouring over the food trip reports for weeks now, you know I will so be taking food porn pics.

I had to remind myself today to stop and smell the roses on this trip. I was already starting to get all anxious about getting in and out of adr's quickly to get to parks, back to the resort, etc. I need to remember to just go with the flow, we will see much of what we want to and do much of what we want to and if not, hopefully there will be a next time.

Thanks for the thoughts! We are 37 sleeps out and the kids are excited. Youngest DS has already packed his in flight bag.

I ALWAYS take food porn. Only way I can recall what I ate. And I don't know about anyone else but a significant thing for me anywhere I go on holidays is the food. I just let fly and eat whatever comes in my direction. I can always walk it off. Well that's my excuse.

Thanks PrincessInOz

4 weeks (28 days) today :yay: This time in 4 weeks we will be on the plane about 3 hours out of LAX :woohoo:

I will certainly be returning with food porn. We are such big TS eaters, so with that and F&W festival, I should have plenty to share :thumbsup2
