To the many people that have made their "first" post

Discussion in 'The DIS Unplugged Podcast' started by WebmasterAlex, Apr 29, 2008.

  1. I have seen many people say this was their "first" post, that they were basically lurkers or from people that hardly ever posted but did now.
    Bawb would have liked that

As do us regulars. What a great way to remember and share stories and make new friends. Welcome newbies and hello regulars. The silver lining lies within us and making this a place that would make Bawb proud.

    Alex -

How are you doing? I know alot of the emphasis has been on the voices of the podcast but please know we are thinking each of you and wish there was a easier way for us to take away your pain.

While this is not my very first post, it is close. I made my first post on this board about a week ago. And I came to these boards from the podcast (a long time listener and lurker and finally came out of the shadows). I am just so saddened by this loss. But how wonderful it is to be among friends here who get it.

Thank you so much Alex, for taking the time to make new posters and those of us that don't post as often feel welcome to join in and grieve with the rest of you. It really is a testament to how many lives Bob touched that so many are now posting.

Thank you, Alex, for welcoming those of us who have just recently started posting. I am realizing with Bob's passing that it's easier to grieve here with this group who understands than alone, because no one in my world has a clue why I'm so upset at losing someone I never met but feel like I "know."

It's amazing to see just how many people were touched by Bob's life.

This isn't my first post on DISboards, but I think it's my first for the DIS Unplugged Podcast forum. And I am a first time podcast listener. I just downloaded my first podcast ever last week, and it was the DIS Unplugged Podcast. I was so excited that I finally got my MP3 thingy sort of figured out (I've had it for over 2 years). It was a great show. I downloaded a few more from the archives this past weekend and fell in love with the whole crew. I laughed till my sides hurt listening to many of the shows. I couldn't get enough of this "Bawb" guy, his Bawb-isms are absolutely priceless.

To the whole family at DIS Unplugged, my prayers go to each and every one of you. I am saddened that you (and we the listeners, even the new ones) have lost someone who has meant so much to so many people. I look forward to hearing past podcasts, and learning more about Bob and his Kaht adventures.

He will be truly, truly missed.

    Alex,
Thank you for thinking of welcoming some of us "first-time posters" right now in your time of grief. I'm sorry that this loss is what brought me out of the shadows....But I keep coming back to the boards because only other "Dis"ers can know how I am feeling right now.
    :grouphug: to everyone right now.

This is exactly why I LOVE the Dis. You don't have to write 23.5 posts per day to be taken seriously. And in this sad situation, we can all grieve together.

Thanks so much for making us newbies feel welcome and not out of the loop. I listen to the podcasts regularly during my drive home from work and it always makes the drive seem so much shorter. I've had many LOL moments, many of them due to Bawb! He will be greatly missed for sure. I haven't been able to stop thinking about him since I first read Pete's post. And it was with a heavy heart that I listened to the last email show yesterday afternoon. I almost didn't, but I did and it was great to hear Bawb...so happy and so full of life, and SO funny!

After months of listening to the podcast and just reading the boards I hesitanlty signed up. I thought if I ddin't post than maybe I wasn't completely obsessed. When I finally posted I didn't even introduce myself. I jumped in feet first and no one batted an eye! I am still considered "new" I have appriciated this podcast more than you could know and nothing can out a smile on my face like Disney or Bob, or really the rest of the crew on the podcast.

You are are part of my family every week. I was in tears on the way home from bringing my daughter to school today.

I understand that this is a hard time for. I know you are going to mourn, but I hope you know how anxious we are to hear your voices. It's like a family. We just want to know you're ok...well it will be a while... Thank you for posting your thoughts. It was comforting to us, I hope it was a comfort to you to share!

Yes, this is my first post. That is not to say that my husband and I have not been faithful listeners to the Dis Unplugged podcast. I look forward to it every week. We will miss Bob. As we listen to the podcast in weeks to come, we will think of Bob and know that there will be a little bit of pain inside all the podcast crew as they continue in tribute to Bob and his personal magic. Thank you podcast crew for all you do for us.

I was a looooongtime lurker for many years and never even had my own account here. I signed up very recently and started posting entirely because I had been listening to the podcast for a few months now and finally felt like this was a place where I "knew" people and could begin to share my thoughts. To me, Bob was the podcast and it will be very difficult to continue to listen knowing he won't be a part of it. Bob, you'll be missed by me too, someone you never met.

I'd like to say thanks too, Alex. It's really odd, because I had been listening to the podcast for a long time, and would lurk around every now and then, but on Monday, I decided that I was going to finally make an effort to actually be a part of the community, and threw a few posts out. Then Tuesday morning when I got to work (after finishing listening to the email show from last week), I got on and read Pete's post. I knew Bob had been sick, and I was afraid he had been hospitalized or something, but never this. I'm glad I have a place to share in such an odd grieving process. Thanks to all of you.

Thanks Alex. My husband and I have been regular listeners of the popdcast since fall of 2006 but like alot of others I've been a lurker more than a poster. Then came Tuesday morning and I didn't even think about it when I read Pete's post I had to reach out. It's something I couldn't begin to explain to anyone outside of this forum but you guys understand and we all feel the loss. My prayers are with the podcast crew and may God be with you.

  21. You are all very welcome here :)
It's what Bob would have wanted
