Thank you very much for the kind comments. :goodvibes

It definitely gets easier as you do them more often. The one thing that I did different from usual was doing the Mickey head last.

And the Dharma dyes are AWESOME. It was so much easier to get good coverage with them. For a couple of colors, a 4oz bottle wasn't enough for all 4 shirts but I barely had to make more. There was far less white then in my previous attempts. and the dye really stayed. None bled and they still look really sharp after3 washes.

We received a fair amount of compliments from CM's and guests, so that made me feel good.

When we are with our extended family in November, it should be eye popping with 10 of us in tie dyed shirts.:cool1:

I bought dye and shirts... I'm going to attempt it today! eeeek!!

Do I have to soak the shirts in soda ash - can I use baking soda??

It needs to be soda ash. They sell it at the typical hobby stores and places like Lowes\HD (look in the pool section for them....they may go by the name PH Up...do not get the PH down!)

Soak them for 45 minutes. Some directions say 20, but you should really let them soak for 45 minutes.

I went and got soda ash at a craft and paint store.

I also bought new fabric dye. The stuff I bought yesterday didn't get good reviews. So I'm going to return it this week. It was by Tulip. Reviews were bad ;)

I soaked for 30 min today on a scrap tee I'm nervous! Lol

Tomorrow I will attempt to dye :):)

Hahah I hadn't actually looked. I was just curious since it's such a common question.

    Can you say disaster! LOLLLLL

Okay not a total disaster but a mess! hehe :lmao::rotfl:

I attempted to tie dye a A frame tee not to mess up, since i've never done tie dye before...

Unsure if it's the colors I chose... or the type of shirt I attempted to make..

Here is the end UGLY product...

I made 2 different size mickey heads and this is the smaller of the two.
I used dental floss, waxed and it still bled.

Here it is !! Hold back the laughter! lol

As you notice, I didn't get enough color in one spot.. Maybe I didn't saturate it enough.. I'm unsure.

The green isn't what I expected either... oh well ;)

Did you twist to make these?

I've seen some people ROLL into 6 sections or twist into 6.. I think that's what happened to me.. I'm re-doing them now on GOOD shirts

I just got the new dharma catalog today and I'm very excited to see needle nose bottles!! I'll definitely be getting some for the onesies I'll be doing. I was figuring on looking for eyedroppers or syringes but I think these will be easier.

Okay, this one is NOT a Mickey head, but it's Disney tie dye. I don't have a picture of the whole shirt, just the design I stenciled on.

Diluting the dyes did make them lighter, btw, thanks for the tip. :)

    Nice!!!

Well, i took the plunge... had my 10 tee's, bought colors, must have did some mixing wrong, cause some lumped, I think the water was too HOT, more than warm and it caked inside in lumps like.. Oh well, tie dye is just that a MESS! LOL :lmao:

I have the 10 of them in a bucket and they are brewing colors ...

I'm going to leave them an extra day just in case...

Unsure if my colors will match, there are 10 of us traveling, but they will all
have their own personalities! ;) the shirts that is!

I didn't swirl the shirt I just rubber banded them off in a row and dyed each section..

Wish me luck! Otherwise, they are going in the garbage! and I can say that I tried... I am usually very crafty but this... omg! I was lost and a mess!

Here is one of the 10... They all pretty much came out the same and not bad... Could be better I'm sure, but I'm happy with them.

    18 month tshirts

I found the least expensive way to get these (Gerber 5 pack onesies) were from Joann Fabrics with the 40 or 50% coupons but I found out they don't carry the 3-6 month size! I had to go to BabysRUs for the 3-6 and they only came in a 4 pack..but they were on sale with the tshirts so of course I had to get them.

Make sure you get the Reduran hand cleaner :( This stuff is persistant. Even Acetone won't get it off well.
