Thoughts on a Disney run Uber?

I'm sure many people would take use of it. We've taken a taxi before when the bus lines are long, but only a few times when we were late for an ADR. I probably won't use it and the taxi drivers won't be excited, but I can see potential if it's cheaper than the taxi services

Disney is not used to competing on price for anything, so I would assume they'd have to ban taxi's and especially Uber from their hotels in order for this to work. There's definitely a market for it. The price/demand relationship will be key

I got the survey yesterday. I usually rent a car so it isn't really pertinent, but I have used both taxi and Uber on property and find it to be convenient. Pricing would be the key factor for me. #anythingtoavoidthebus. ;)

It wouldn't matter to me as long as there is some service to use but I never have understood why a survey question makes people jump to the conclusion that they are going to do X (whatever is in the survey question)
Or even seriously considering it.
Every survey we take asks how we paid for the trip and if that card wasn't available would we use something else, not go, etc. And that question changes every time, based on what card we used. I do not believe for a minute that Disney is considering dropping a particular form of credit card from being used at the parks. It's just a question.

I also got this survey yesterday and tried to be fair in my answers even though it kind of scares me. I do wish they had STARTED with the questions that involved them charging for transportation to ALL locations on property and to/from MCO and not just the resort to resort specific ones. I also wish there had been a place to type in an answer as I wanted to make it very clear that it would depend on what the cost is and whether or not the free transportation stayed in effect. To whit, if they started charging for everything I would just rent my own car vs. paying as we go for the one or two times we needed to go from resort to resort.

I've taken many Disney surveys and never been asked this question... we always use one card or other for the points.

People jump to these conclusions because Disney is asking them. They wouldn't be asking if Disney wasn't at least slightly interested in doing something. These are like the preliminaries of new things at the parks. If the surveys indicate that most people wouldn't use or be against something it probably won't get the green light.

I actually had a different thought on the matter: What if Dis is considering dropping Mears taxis entirely and replacing them with uber (or some sort of disney approved partnership)? Its not as big a stretch as it sounds. Guests have been telling Disney constantly they love uber and hate the cabs.

As for Disney starting their own service...I dont think itd be operationally the type of thing theyd want to take on. Im sure they could handle it, they have a lot of money, but looking at the ROI and how well it fits their brand...Those considerations will be factored in. From a profit perspective, short rides on property are not where the money is at current pricing for an uber ride. And you coukd easily ask the following "why not our own Disney airline? why not our own bus company? (DME is owned/operated by Mears)?"

I drive down so I wouldn't use it anyway. As long as they keep the free buses, I'm good with whatever they do.

I'm still wondering why they didn't do a survey before removing the handles from the refillable mugs. ;)

I've been asked, in several surveys, about my credit card use at WDW and what I would do if that card wasn't usable there.
As far as a Disney Uber...they can't do away with cabs. Guests use them to get to off-site areas. But, Disney CMs often off to drive a guest somewhere in a 'company' car. So, I can imagine that there could be a service that might get guests from resort to resort.
