I love the plaid-ness of your shirt. Perfect match for HDDR! Glad you guys had fun there and the food was alright! Not liking the sound of another disappointment, though!
(Random-- heading to your state this weekend! DBF and I are going to the Wrentham Outlets this weekend!)

I still don't know what possessed me to wait in that line. But once we started, it felt like a challenge we had to finish!

The water parade was really cute! I liked the music that went with it.

After the Kona breakfast, I got Tonga Toast at Captain Cooks and it doesn't come with the strawberry sauce. But since Ben is a good DH, he got me some of the strawberries they use on the waffles. Not quite the same, but really makes the toast better... I think the acidity of the berries helps. Or something.

Looking at that Poppins, you're right- she definitely is not sporting her day look!

That TSM line was not a highlight. But at least I wasn't carrying a baby...

Officially done with the pets! 12 cats sure do make for a lot of litter box scooping!

    It's not too bad...

Hope you're having the best trip ever! Love seeing your Facebook updates- brings thoughts of the trip right back!

Thank you very much! I love the teacup pictures, too!
I just got home and it feels great to be here!

We loved HDDR soooooo much! The song still gets stuck in my head, though.

Have fun at the outlets- there's some good shopping there!

Thanks! And thanks for 'watching' Glee with me the other night!

Hello! I'm so glad I came across your TR.

Early on you mentioned your near death experience on the first leg plane ride for your honeymoon. So, since I was one of those that would have skipped over the link to your PTR, I had to quickly scroll back and "click"!

I am so glad I did. It was a great PTR filled with wedding preparations, Disney PTR, honeymoon ptr, and the actual wedding and honeymoon posts. I really enjoyed every page of it.

I am also enjoying this TR - especially how forward you are with actual personal feelings during the trip (disappointments and excitement with equal billing). Great job.

Congratulations, and hope to be reading more soon. :surfweb:

So now you know not to get your brood up to 12 cats. Althought BF is lazy and got the Litter Robot so he wouldn't have to consistantly be cleaning litter. Maybe you suggest that to your friends? Made cleaning the litter box very easy for my mom.

How neat you got to walk into MK with all of those characters! I didn't know they did that either. I guess I can use that as some inspiration to finally make it to rope drop one day!

I'm so glad Hoop de Doo lived up to your expectations. :goodvibes

Uh oh, I'm nervous about what is awaiting you at the Poly!

I'm really enjoying your TR. I especially enjoyed hearing your thoughts on IOA and the WWOHP, as I'll be headed down in two weeks. And Portofino Bay looks really gorgeous!

I'm curious - did you see the pilot of Outsourced? If so, did it seem like they had made any improvements to the version you saw at US?

I look forward to hearing about the rest of your trip!

It sounds like it is something else if it is worth a 2hour wait.

Hi Folks! I had hoped to have an update by now, but this is a busy weekend. Busy in a fun way- a good friend's wedding yesterday and today we are going to the Davis Mega Maze! It is a ginormous corn maze in a small town in Mass. Ben and I have been every year since we started dating. This year we're meeting up with friends to tackle the thing as a group. It usually takes us 4 hours or so to find everything, so I'm hoping we can shave some of that time off :woohoo:

Ben is giving me the stinkeye cause we need to get moving, but I just had to check in on the DIS for a moment...

Awww, thank you very much! After that wonderful endorsement of the PTR, even I want to read it!

I think the motor would burn out on an electric litter box with the number of times those cats go!

It was really fun, especially to watch other people- lots of folks didn't even notice that they were right next to Mary and Bert!

We loved Portofino so much!! I think I'd go back and stay there without even visiting the parks!

I did watch the 'Outsouced' pilot and I still didn't like it. They hadn't changed any of the things that I commented on (which really would have meant changing the fundamental plot of the show...) though I did find out that one of my best friends actually likes the show.

Yay!! So glad to see you over here! I hope you enjoy reading. Should have another update soon-ish.

It's the Toy Story Mania ride at the Studios, it is not worth a 2 hour wait! A very fun ride, but I was very silly for deciding to wait that long. Get there early and use a FastPass!

Oh! I want to go to Davis Mega Maze!!!! We went to the Big E yesterday, BF and I met with my parents, then his sister and her BF met up with us, and to make a long story short, we watched this parade that had a car for Davis Mega Maze and now I have it in my head we're goign to do it!

You should go! It is a lot of fun. But it took us almost 6 hours to finish... there are a lot of things throughout the maze to find, you're not just looking for the end. We have to find everything, and we got stuck for a long time!
    My advice- pack some sandwiches!

I left Day 5 just hanging, and it's time for some closure. I am really excited to get on to the rest of the trip... so here is
The end of Day 5: A surprise is mostly ruined
Earlier in the day, when we came back to our room, there was a note left under the door. It was to let us know that we needed to pick up a package at the front desk, it couldn't be delivered because it contained alcohol. So of course, Ben wants to know what this could possibly be. I played dumb because I knew it was the 'Ears to the Bride and Groom' package that I had ordered as a surprise. To be delivered to the room. To surprise Ben when we got back. When I talked to Disney Floral to order this a few weeks ago, no one mentioned that alcohol wouldn't be delivered if we weren't there. If I had known that, I would have got something else that could be left. The chances of us being in the room during the day were almost non existent, and I wasn't going for a surprise piece of paper, I wanted the effect of a surprise tangible object. To summarize, I was bummed when I saw the note.

When we got back to the Poly after the HDDR, we stopped at the front desk to pick up our 'surprise'. The girl at the front desk seemed confused, and took a while to find it. At this point, I was mad that I had bothered to get this package. It wasn't cheap, and the only reason I wanted to spend the money on it was so it could be a surprise. Grrr. I guess I was still thinking in terms of other resorts (like Sandals) where little touches were always left in our room.

Ben was still very appreciative of the surprise I had tried to arrange, and this is what it looked like:

The alcohol that ruined the surprise:

The ears were what I was most looking forward to.

This is the only time we wore them. And I guess that brings us to something else I should talk about here (it doesn't really fit into any one particular day, just an ongoing trip thing)... the 'Celebration' thing. We booked this vacation as a honeymoon. We got married in April and immediately took a trip to Jamaica after the wedding. But to us, this was still our honeymoon. When I booked, they had it on the reservation. And we did get pins at check-in:

At every ADR, they had a 'celebration' noted and our server would usually ask what we were celebrating. We got a variety of responses, but none of them were very celebratory. I don't know if CMs just get sick of congratulating and happy birthdaying people all day, but it definitely did not feel festive for us. The best example of this will come at our Le Cellier dinner... but that's a few days from now.
Anyway, we stopped wearing the pins and just decided to forget the honeymoon aspect and had a great 'regular' Disney trip.

Again, I think disappointment was partly due to our expectations and partly due to the service we got. Nothing major or huge, just an attitude adjustment we had to make to enjoy the rest of the trip in a different way.

But from here on out, things stay pretty peachy-keen (mostly) so I hope you stick around!

Happy day off to you! Would you and Ben be interested in trying the maze out again? I spent Saturday trying to decorate the front of the house. I started at 5pm and didn't finish until almost 8pm! I kept having an issue with trying to get electricity from one side of the yard over the trellis to the other side of the yard, since the lights were only two prongs and the extension cord was three prongs. And that's about as much time as I'm going to take on your TR about my life.....

I'm so sorry to hear your surprise didn't go as planned. I hate when things like that happen, especially because you asked to make sure it would get in the room!

:sad2: Sorry about the ruined surprise-- that's definitely something worth getting annoyed over! That seems like such a silly rule. I feel like they should have warned you before if you couldn't get alcohol delivered.
Kudos for deciding to have a great trip anyway and just forgetting about the negatives!
    Love the ears!

I am sorry your surprise was ruined. I can't imagine that they wouldn't realize they intent was to be a surprise. OH well, at least the basket looked nice, eh?

As for the celebration...yeah, I think it can be kinda hit or miss. in 2/09 we celebrated dd's 4th bday. Couldn't have imagined how much attention she got. Then in 2/10 we celebrated ds's 17th bday. He got maybe...MAYBE a couple "happy bday" wishes. He was very disappointed. Then this last trip we were celebrating my mom's 71st bday. She got almost as much attention as dd did for her bday. :confused3

Woah, that sounds like quite the decorating fiasco! Sounds like you did some serious Halloweening it up! I don't even have a pumpkin yet!

Definitely had buyers remorse on the ears package! Lesson learned,though- Disney Floral and I aren't friends, I guess.

Yay! And thanks for reading! :thumbsup2

Ohmygoodness, just one week- how exciting!!!

And we did manage to get the glasses home without breaking them, so that is a plus!

I think I would have been happier with no celebration recognition than with the lack-luster response we did get. And the one time where it seemed to border on rude!

Now that I got the not-so-great end of Day 5 out of the way, we can move on to more fun!

    Day 6: All New Epcot!

We didn't set an alarm this morning, and woke up around 8AM or so. We moseyed on over to the Ceremonial House for breakfast at Captain Cook's. I had a Mickey waffle and Ben got the breakfast combo platter. It was quick and yummy and we got some coffees to take with us back to our room.

We stopped in the gift shop so I could look for flip flops. I had ended up bring my Crocs (super comfy except for matching ridiculous blisters on the tops of my feet. Thank goodness for mole skin!), some sandals (were not giving enough support and left my feet aching), and sneakers (too warm for socks and sneakers!) I had been wearing so much mole skin that the skin on my feet was irritated and I wanted to give them a break. I didn't really find anything that was better than my sandals, so we gave up. At least today should be a pretty easy-on-the feet kinda day.

On the way out, we passed by the DVC kiosk and the very nice CM saw our pins and asked us if we had received our phone call from Mickey and Minnie yet. He handed us the phone, and we listened to Minnie be really excited for us and Mickey be really excited about wedding cake. It was actually really cute and one of the few nice things we saw from the whole 'What will you celebrate' shenanigans.
Of course the DVC guy had to ask us if this was our first trip, and when he learned that we had been before and had a trip already planned for next year, he asked if we knew about DVC. Then he said we'd get a $100 gift card just for doing the tour. That's all Ben had to hear, we agreed that we'd do a tour later in the week just for that money (we were racking up the room charges for tips and OOP meals like no one's business. And today was gonna get worse...)

We continued back to our room to drop off our mugs and then headed on to the TTC. I know I said it before, but Tahiti was an awesome location!

It wasn't long at all until we made it to Epcot

It was a little after 10 by the time we made it to the park, and we wandered over to Test Track as it was the one ride we didn't get on the other day we were here. Unfortunately, the ride was down so it was off to our next destination- the Land to sign up for a Behind the Seeds tour.
As we walked up to the desk, the 11:15 tour was just getting ready to leave. We were behind another couple and chatted a little to a CM standing nearby and didn't immediately get to the register. So when we got up to the counter, they had magically changed the next tour time. It was a little frustrating to just miss a tour, but we signed up for the noon and headed out to find something else to do.

It was really hot, and we didn't walk too far before ducking into the AC bliss of Innoventions. I finally got to do what I had wanted to the other day:

We made what we thought would be a super fun coaster and we named it the most awesome thing ever: the Infinite Eagle :lmao:
When it finally was time to ride, Ben got into an awkward disagreement with the CM because he didn't want to put his stuff in the locker they provide. She was pretty passionate about the unreliability of buttons on pockets (though did say that zippers would be ok :rotfl: ), so Ben finally gave in. I have no idea why he didn't just go along with her right away, but it was actually kinda funny. The ride itself was not fun. It didn't feel like a roller coaster, just like we were in a harness that moved. We obviously are not good at designing virtual rides.

Once we got off, we had a very short window to get our butts back to the Land. We ran over there and were the last people to show up... I think the rest of our tour was giving us dirty looks, but that may have been my guilty conscience. :rolleyes1 We had a small group (I think just 3 other couples) and a very nice tour guide named Clayton.

Here is Clayton talking about stuff in the greenhouses.

Ben got to release some ladybugs.

I didn't know that they grew cucumbers into Mickeys, too!

We got a very good view of the lettuce HM.

Those fish were nuts... every tour feeds them and when they see people walk by they start flipping out! They may have been Tilapia... I obviously did a crappy job of retaining anything I learned on this tour.
Except for one thing: I had always wondered about the alligators in the Aquaculture section. Naively, I kinda assumed they must be released somewhere and I thought that was weird cause alligators are already a problem in Florida. Silly Joyce, those guys are shipped here from a farm to grow a little in these tanks before going back for slaughter. These ones would be heading back soon. No one else on out tour was surprised by this, and when I accidentally thought aloud, "awww, that's sad', I got a few weird looks from my tour mates (some of whom were locals and all of whom apparently have eaten alligator).

I was happy to move back on to the plants... I think I'll save animal related tours for the AK from now on!

Clayton took a picture for us in the tropical greenhouse.

This was our very first taste of a WDW tour and I think it is safe to say it won't be our last! It was a lot of fun, and really neat to see everything from another perspective. But it was hot in there, and I left in a big sweaty mess. The only thing to do was to sneak into Club Cool and get some soda samples.

The best part of this was that Ben picked Beverly as his very first to try. I wasn't prepared for that, so I don't have a picture. I don't really like any of the sodas, but I tried a teeny bit of them all.
We were finally a bit cooler, and could brave the heat enough to dash to the next closest AC... back to Innoventions for yet another Epcot first!
