My husband and I were discussing that too. But since there is no forms of communications who knows what's happening in the rest of the country, how many survivors they may actually be. For all we know there could be whole cities trying to get back to normal. As far as so many in the woods my guess is that as the zombies started appearing (in the cities and towns I'm sure) people sought refuge in the woods thinking that maybe they had a better shot of making it, just as we saw the other camps out there. But, as people died and started coming back the zombie population started growing in the woods. One big vicious cycle I guess.
