Yikes! Hope you get lots of rest tonight.
After our foray into the wild African savanna was over we made our way into the Pangani Forest to see what adventures may await us.
We were very lucky to happen upon the hippo habitat while the resident hippo was feeling in a social mood. I had never seen a hippo up close like that before, usually they are off at the back off the tank sleeping and thus you can't get a very good look at them. Today though she swam right up to the glass and swam around in front of us for quite a while. We spent a good amount of time watching her and taking pictures.
Looking coy for the camera
Now a big toothy smile
I think somebody needs a trip to the dentist!
After about 20 minutes of socializing and showing off she got tired of us and swam away.
After social hour with Ms Hippo we went on to visit with the gorillas. Turns out it was nap time.
I guess nap-time was over and it was now time for some lunch.
I love the look on his face here
Another gorilla came out, this one wasn't feeling up to eating with everybody watching so he went as far back in the enclosure as he could.
We spent a lot of time with the gorillas as well, I just love the gorillas!
When we exited the area we noticed that a local tribesman was entertaining the visiting children with some local music.
It had stopped raining so I pulled my poncho off. Good thing to as I spotted some royalty off in the distance. It wouldn't do to attend a royal audience dressed in such a way.

Love the Gorilla pix Lessa !! I love those "little" guys too!!!
Aw, I love the hippo!
Great TR I am getting caught up.
That toothy smile might give me nightmares!
I think it would be amazing to travel to Africa and see them in the wild.
I took so many pictures of that hippo it is ridiculous. She just kept posing for me.
Welcome! Hope you enjoy even though most of the pictures are missing at the moment.
Great photos and how cool that the hippo was so obliging but wow those teeth
Was Rosie still wearing her tiara?
No Jo I was filling my MUG!!!
I can tell you that the royalty we met was not Rosie.
Morning Lessa!! These seems to be a theme with me I m either working or filling my MUG!!!! This time I was working again! It's a tough house as there are a lot of wheelchairs ,Voyager lifts, incontinence you name it !! Good thing is the staff all work really well together and time flies !!!I am curious which member of which Royal Family you met!!!
Busy busy busy. You definitely work hard for your Disney money.
You will just have to wait until Wednesday to find out which Royal I met.
You Cliff Hanger you!!! I think you are taking Lessons from Alan!!!I wont even mention Winkers she tortures us!! [/I]
I take lessons from no one. I've been doing "cliffhangers" ever since my first TR back in 07.
It's wednesday. I'm all tuned in for the next report!
Happy Canada Day!
I'm working 8am-4pm so it should be up by 9.
Happy Canada Day! Hurray for holiday pay!
Now I know I have had you all on tenterhooks wondering who this mysterious Royal was that we encountered in the Animal Kingdom. Sorry to disappoint but it was not Prince Harry or William but King Louie!
Now I know Mom will get mad at me for posting these but I just about died of laughter when I reviewed our pictures after leaving our royal audience. Apparently she just couldn't figure out how to pose with King Louie and her confusion shows in the pictures that the character handler took with our camera.
Okay, so I guess I'll crouch down behind him and look like I am doing something dirty to him.
What the heck, he's standing up now what am I supposed to do
I give up
I totally did not notice Mom's antics at the time as I was just making sure that I was smiling at the camera. Luckily for Mom the photopass photographer got more flattering pictures of her.
The rain was still holding off so I suggested that we take advantage of that and head over to the Tree of Life for some pictures before it started up again.
There were a couple families waiting for the photographer so we joined the line. Once again I got complimented on my Tink necklace! Many of the people we encountered who liked my necklace would just reach over and touch it or pick it up without even asking, I guess they have never heard of personal space....
I discovered on this trip that Mom does not know how to do fake scary/scared faces as she can't stop laughing. This happens in future pictures as well.
Then the photographer had us hold baby Simba.
Photos all done it was now time to head over to Expedition Everest, luckily for us the rain was still holding off.
The stand-by line said the wait was only 10 minutes so I grabbed some fastpasses and we got in line. Now I was not sure that Mom was actually going to ride, I thought she might chicken out at the last minute as she seemed to get nervous as we approached the loading area.
This was my first time in the stand-by queue and it was really neat! So detailed!
So did Mom ride Expedition Everest or did she chicken out? Did she survive an encounter with the Yeti? Check back on Friday to find out!
