The Quest For 15K & 18 FP+ ~ A Marathon Weekend 2016 PTR - TR Link, Page 18

That sucks that her shoes didn't work out but at least she found some new ones. I'm not going to get any new ones before marathon weekend but I likely will after.

Yeah, I'm glad we figured out that the shoes wouldn't work early enough that she had time to get new ones and get used to them before the races.
And new shoes are always fun!!

The outfits look good. My 5K shirt came together but my half didn't so now I'm frantically trying to decide what to wear for that.

Thanks!
I'm sorry to hear that the half costume didn't work out. Coming up with these costumes is a lot harder than you'd think!

We bought a new suitcase for my grandma for Christmas because she had a small one and hasn't been on a big vacation in years so she really needed a new one.

I totally get that. My brother also mostly used small ones, which is why he had to buy a new one for his big trip.
I hope your grandma likes her new suitcase (and her big vacation!)

Woohoo 12 days! I can't wait!

YAY!!! I'm so excited ... 12 days from now I'll be on my way to Disney Springs!! (Hopefully ... assuming no plan delays)

Love your plans. I love the idea of going to a park on the last day because it never seems like you have enough park time...however...yeah...could also be stressful but if you allow enough time to get out and on a bus...should be ok. I guess worst case maybe cab it to the hotel if it gets super late? Just a thought...but who knows how you'll feel by the end of the trip, you may want to do something lower key like DS. That maybe has to be a more spontaneous decision?

Doing a park on the last day is definitely a hard decision. I like your idea of taking a cab back to the hotel if we're running late - takes a little bit of the stress away!
Departure day plans will definitely be a somewhat spontaneous plan. I think that if we do a park, we have to add the extra day to our tickets before we leave MK on Monday, but it will be a last-minute thing.

12 Days of Disney

So, Beth and I were just sitting and noting that there are twelve days left until our trip. So we decided to write our own 12 days of Christmas song called 12 days of Disney. Some of our numbers have multiple options because we couldn't narrow it down to just one. Also, some of them are a little (very) random. We know, we're a little weird. Enjoy!
(Obviously you repeat all of the previous numbers after each line like you do in the real song, but I didn't want to keep writing it all out).

The 12 Days of Disney:

On the first day of Disney, Mickey Mouse gave to me a shopping trip to World of Disney

On the second day of Disney, Mickey Mouse gave to me two racing medals

On the third day of Disney, Mickey Mouse gave to me three fast passes per day (caballeros) (railroad stops)

On the fourth day of Disney, Mickey Mouse gave to me four awesome theme parks

On the fifth day of Disney, Mickey Mouse gave to me five park days (fab five characters)

On the sixth day of Disney, Mickey Mouse gave to me six "magic" lands

On the seventh day of Disney Mickey Mouse gave to me seven dwarfs on a mine train

On the eighth day of Disney Mickey Mouse gave to me eight Mickey ice cream bars

On the ninth day of Disney Mickey Mouse gave to me nine trips to Disney (World and Land including the upcoming trip) or nine (point three) miles running

On the tenth day of Disney, Mickey Mouse gave to me ten hidden Pascals

On the eleventh day of Disney Mickey Mouse gave to me eleven princesses

On the twelfth day of Disney Mickey Mouse gave to me twelve character greetings

And that is our "Twelve Days of Disney" song. The end.

Your Dumbo outfit looks really cute.

I like rolling suitcases because you can put the duffle bag or other bags on top to carry it all.

Your trip is getting close. It might be warm weather for your races. It would be nice to have it warm at the start but not too hot by the end of the race.

The morning will start out faster than any other morning of the trip (probably … no character stops). That’s right, after 2 races and spending plenty of time walking around the parks, we’re running again! The plan is for a short run Tuesday morning, probably two laps around Hourglass Lake (aka the lake between Pop Century and Art of Animation ), for a total distance of about 2.5 miles.
You ladies are MACHINES! I so admire your dedication!

Last year we did departure day breakfast of coffee and pastries at DTD, and we loved the idea enough to make it a new tradition
I love this idea!

Also … am I too old for the bumpers?
Probably. I know I am. I ask for them on any rare occasion somebody talks me into going bowling. I'm always given a firm NO. :(

PROS: MORE PARK TIME!!!; Ending the trip on an awesome note
THIS THIS THIS.

Yes, that is the Dumbo skirt I’ve been talking about for months.
I love your Dumbo skirt!!!!!

12 DAYS!!
10 days now!!!!!!!!! Tomorrow... we dance!!!!

Bahahahaaaa!! I loooooooooooooove this!!

Totally agree. I usually take a big rolling suitcase (which I check) and a duffel bag and while I'm walking around with them, I just put the duffel bag on top of the suitcase. We'll see what I end up doing this trip.

Your trip is getting close. It might be warm weather for your races. It would be nice to have it warm at the start but not too hot by the end of the race.

When I checked last week it looked like it was going to be pretty good weather for the 5K and 10K, but then get a little hotter for the longer races. I haven't checked the weather in a few days, but I'm hoping for 50's-60's for most of the race!

You ladies are MACHINES! I so admire your dedication!

Thanks.
Although I might be trying to talk Beth into converting it into a morning walk...

I love this idea!

Thanks! I'm always all for a nice breakfast, and DTD/Disney Springs is actually really relaxing in the mornings!

Probably. I know I am. I ask for them on any rare occasion somebody talks me into going bowling. I'm always given a firm NO. :(

Oh, man. I don't think I can bowl without the bumpers. At least ... I don't think I can keep the ball out of the gutters without the bumpers.

THIS THIS THIS.

I think lots of people seem to be in favor of extra park time. I don't quite understand why...

I love your Dumbo skirt!!!!!

Thank you!

10 days now!!!!!!!!! Tomorrow... we dance!!!!

Yup! Today is all the fingers on both hands (as Beth demonstrated to me in the middle of synagogue services this morning) ... tomorrow is single digits!

Bahahahaaaa!! I loooooooooooooove this!!

Thanks!
This is what happens when you let me and Beth on the computer at night...

I'm always a supporter of runs around Disney resorts. I'm planning on two or three during our stay (actually thinking I will run after the 5k since we will be mostly walking it). The resorts are such a wonderful backdrop for a run!

A breakfast at Ghirardelli (and EM Bakery) seems like the perfect vacation breakfast.

So all of your last day options seem great! My favorite is Resort touring as its always a favorite of mine and a nice relaxing way to end a trip. Getting in some last minute parks time is always a good thing but like you mentioned I think we often feel stressed, etc on that last day and sometimes I think that park time ends up not being enjoyable. I typically prefer to say my goodbyes to the parks that night before.

Your race costumes are super cute!! I am almost done with mine....and since we leave Thursday I better get it done. Haha!

Planning clothes for a longer trip (that includes layering) is super hard! Again I need to get started on this! Ugh.

Cute 12 days of Disney song. I like it better than the original. ;)

I know it was yesterday, but today totally still counts...

SINGLE DIGITS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Totally agree! Running around the resorts is way nicer than running around my park at home!

::yes:: :)

Thanks. I totally get what you're saying about saying goodbye to the parks the night before - you don't want your last view of the parks to be a stressful one where you're rushing out trying to get back to your hotel!

Your race costumes are super cute!! I am almost done with mine....and since we leave Thursday I better get it done. Haha!

Thanks!! I hope you can finish yours soon ... the races are only a little more than a week away!!

Planning clothes for a longer trip (that includes layering) is super hard! Again I need to get started on this! Ugh.

Confession: I haven't even thought about layers. I have my bottom layer mostly taken care of, and I'll probably just bring my Disneyland sweatshirt to throw on for days when it's cold.
Unless I somehow have extra room in my suitcase, in which case ... I start bringing everything I could ever possibly use for layering.

Cute 12 days of Disney song. I like it better than the original. ;)

It's okay, I was kinda MIA yesterday. Thanks for coming and dancing with me!
Also, I love that you threw in Gru, because I was literally just watching Despicable Me.

SO CLOSE!

8 Days!!!

12 Days of Disney... very nice!!!

Thanks :)

The trip is coming up fast!!!!

Just over a week ... yours is less than 2 weeks! (Well, less than 2 weeks until the beginning ... a little more until the actual Disney Parks part)

Hi Sarah! Just catching up on your plans. Your trip is just around the corner!! :dogdance: I'm so excited for you and Beth and can't wait to hear all about it. :goodvibes

Hi!!!!! Welcome back to the DIS!

Our trip is now less than a week away ... we're so excited!!
I'm really excited to go down to Florida, have tons of fun, and then come back and get to share all of the fun stories!

You're so close!!!

I love the inspired by costumes! Also I'm really impressed that you made the skirt!!!

What??? Only 1 day??? Holy crap!

My ETA at Pop looks like it should be sometime in the noon to 2 range Friday. I'll be certain to make some noise Friday night while you're trying to relax.

What??? Only 1 day??? Holy crap!

Yup. In 24 hours I will be in Florida (JetBlue permitting).

My ETA at Pop looks like it should be sometime in the noon to 2 range Friday. I'll be certain to make some noise Friday night while you're trying to relax.

We'll probably still be at Animal Kingdom when you get there, but depending on when you're heading out for the drinking (or ADR), maybe we'll cross paths when we get back to the hotel.
And if you're gonna make noise, I hope you're on the completely opposite side of the resort. Although ... Beth used to live in a neighborhood where playing Spanish music loudly at 3am was considered normal (and I slept over there often enough), so noise doesn't bother us too much.

YOU'RE GOING TO DISNEY WORLD TOMORROW, SARAH!!!

:hyper: :woohoo: :hyper: :woohoo: :hyper: :woohoo: :hyper: :woohoo: :hyper:

!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!! I'm excited!! I just have to get through the next 18 hours and then it's time to head to Disney!

Good luck on your races. I hope the weather is good for running. :)

We'll be arriving on Saturday and I've been thinking about Ghirardelli sundaes and wondering how we can slip over to Disney Springs for one of those treats. ;)
